Rebuilding D8 engines with simple hand tools has become a genre. These things are still in production, and basically power most of Asia and parts of Africa, doing a lot of the same work as hit and miss gasoline engines did in the USA in the late nineteenth and early twenties centuries, only better because they're a diesel cycle and can be used to power vehicles too. Pity they're illegal here.
@Max Mustermann These engines are not illegal, they just have restrictions on how they can be used. You can't use them in some on-road vehicle, but they're fine for stationary applications. Though with how anal the EPA has been getting, this may no longer be the case in a few years, the EPA and several libtard tree hugger government agencies have been increasingly going after off-road and agricultural engines to make them more efficient and less polluting. This means expensive redesigns and expensive pollution control devices like DPF reactors for diesel engines and catalytic converters for gasoline engines. So far they've not retroactively applied such rules, except in California, which is a lost cause.
Anyone else cringe when he threw the bearing into the tub of parts without worrying about damaging it? He then used the thinnest and dirtiest possible oil when he refitted it. No sign of any lubrication for the conrod side though.
Impressive Job

Промывка и покраска это не реставрация , а пыль в глаза . Зачем снимать одно и то же ?
