I wish they had better color choices. For the P90 standard models I have no idea what to pick. Leaning toward sunburst. Wish it came in white and it'd be even better if it came with black pickups. Of course I could always get the white standard with humbuckers then buy seymour duncan P90s in humbucker size but that tacks on another couple hundred bucks and an afternoon of work
They are amazing guitars, I got one of the Bowden Green 502T's (w/ P90's) about 3 years ago, of course I had no idea at the time they were going to revamp the range a few months later! It's a brilliant guitar and I adore it.
You better only buy it in person! I just received my brand new Revstar RSS02T packaged from Yamaha and it had a very high bridge, tool marks on the fretboard, cracks in the binding, high frets and a poorly fitted and cut nut causing buzzing. It is at the Luthier now to even make it playable...
I have that one in ash grey, denim, wall fade and shop black. I have all the old revstars in every finish. I didn’t mean to catch them all but it sort of just happened.
Hey Leigh - nice video! I have this exact model, the RSS20 with P90s in Hot Merlot. After many many years of playing many guitars I feel that Yamaha is on to something special. I lent it to a friend who is a bit of a vintage guitar lover and even he was blown away. It is a really classy guitar that is made exceptionally well and importantly it feels amazing. Looking forward to see your videos with it.

I did a video about 2 years ago trying out the entire range, and I loved everything but the RSS02T with P90s was the one I felt like it was "MY GUITAR". The humbucker one is great too, but the P90 one just has a little bit of extra mojo that I really like. When Yamaha make them, they have this process that sorta ages the wood to give it a more played in feel, I don't know how they do it exactly but there is some info on their website about it. It makes the guitar feel less stiff and less new so perhaps that's part of what your friend liked about it, it has that older guitar feeling!

These are the best made guitars out there for the money IMO. I don't care for the Gen 2 switching, I prefer the 3 way switch on my Gen 1 502T. Sounds as good as my 3K Custom made Oswald, and I play it more these days. I advise everyone to try a Revstar.
I've been thinking about buying one of these for a while now, the only thing that is putting me off a little bit is the potentially noisy p90 pickups, how noticeable is the hum? is it the same as like a strat single position hum or something?
P90s are always going to be a little noisy if you use a lot of gain, but these P90s aren't insanely noisy. I've actually been gigging with this guitar a lot over the last month and I've not had any major noise issues anywhere.
I've got a Revstar in hot merlot p90 and it currently sat in my wardrobe and an Xmas present to myself. I've been debating one for a while after seeing all the amazing reviews and must say the little I've used it I've been utterly blown away. The thing is immaculate for the price, everything from the setup to the finish is just amazing.
@@LeighFugeGuitar It kinda embarrasses way more expensive guitars imho. I also have a Gibson Les Paul Standard 50's P90 Gold Top, and I'm not sayin the Yamaha is better (or even the same type of guitar).. But I rank them as equals and that says something I guess (quality/playingwise. The goldtop is 3 times the price (where I live)). They both were set up really well from the shop. Soo I'm just reeally impressed by this, and *well done* Yamaha. 👍 :)

In between sounds are almost like strat, impressive. So it can cover Strat to Les Paul.

I've been eying these for a while. Regardless of if it's a Revstar or another Gordon Smith, I'm pretty set that my next guitar will have P90s 🤘

I find many guys who bought it were candidates for a Gibson SG but felt they got better value with the RSS02T

Haha! I used to love the look of that old Revstar 720. There was one that has this grey flame kinda finish with a Bigsby, that looked awesome !

I have both (standards) It has taken awhile to decide but I find I prefer the P90. Incredible sound and very versatile on gigs.

I own the humbucker green with the black racing stripes and LOVE the two position with the Focus switch engaged.
I got the blue p90 standard. Yamaha did what they normaly do. an f-in great job
