Hi Ian, that's the joys of boating. If you have a needle and thread on board , you could sew the ripped stitches by hand using the same holes. That's how fixed mine during a storm. Enjoy your travels 😊
Good video, showing its not all sunshine and blue skies like some videos lead you to believe. Remaining calm during trying times is always the answer. Thankyou.
Those storms are not a joke, but you handled it very well. I have learned that having the plastics up creates a sail effect that will push you around in heavy winds. Waiting for the next video, thank you for sharing.
I’m torn with the plastic. It’s does create a safe place to man the helm in a storm and secures the Bimini better but I hate it up 99% of the time. One reason I want a second helm or pilot house boat.
Thanks Tom and Bridgett for another Sunday afternoon video for me. looked a little dangerous for awhile glad it calmed down for you as usual stay safe alk in michigan

Its a part of SW experience for sure, comes at you fast. May I recommend at least 60 feet of chain and real Fortress anchor main and/or at least a backup. Nothing sets and holds better in sandy florida. ... even though its not chrome. Glad all good though!
I'll agree with marshallallaben1757 on straighten out that anchor part it's about to break next time if it does it again, So yup purchase another one or find thicker style that fit on it may have to add 2 new holes on the bracket, you had lot tension on it already
Great episode, thank you!....I'm not sure if this would interfere with the clearance of the end of the anchor when raising and lowering, but where the two ends of the bail attach to the anchor pulpit, could you run a stainless bolt across it in the existing holes to prevent the chain from jumping up that high and toss the bail?
I feel like you guys missed the real beauty of the keys. The reef with the beautiful clear water is on the Atlantic side. Hawk channel runs the length of the keys on that side. Good anchorage not far from where you are in this video in boot key harbor.
Hey Tom. You mentioned that the turnaround and head back was at Marathon. You may have mentioned it before but any reason why you didn’t want to go to the end to Key West? Was there weather concerns?
Thank God you were on the boat and not at that restaurant. I can only imagine the horror of being on shore and seeing your boat break loose.
Great point!

That’s what we did.

I have all chain on my delta. Problem by the keys is the sand bottom is very shallow and under is coral, so hard to get a bite in spots.

That would work but it also has to accept the anchor shank which is much larger than the chain alone.
been there, done that...your look on your face i know well..!...glad it all worked out...
If it were there last 3 beers on board you wouldn't have got one

We dove the reef in the last video or so. Heading to boot key in the next video.
Great thumb nail! Lmao!

We planned the trip only to Marathon this go around. Saving Key West for another trip. We were already 3 weeks in and ready to go home.
@ Understandable, 3 weeks is plenty. Nice trip and well done.
The more you straighten out that anchor chain bracket, the weaker it may become. I'd just buy a couple new ones.
It is not all fun on a boat. Disaster can happen quick. If that had happened in the middle of the night, it could have been a different outcome
