Autozone doesn’t confirm the name on the receipt, no company I have ever dealt with does. If she paid cash that’s what will be refunded to anyone who shows up with the merchandise and the receipt. Autozone has zero liability, they have no control over what she does with the receipt. Auto zone also will never back her up in court with out a subpoena.
If that's an AFM equipped 5.3, as long as the engine is running and isn't knocking in the bottom end. Pull it out and prepare to do an AFM delete on it, you can buy a complete kit or piece one together. Lifters, trays, headgaskets, head bolts, might as well get an Elgin cam for like $150 the smallest one, 216/220, get some yellow or blue GM valve springs, a 3 bolt cam sprocket and bolts, timing chain, look for metal.in the oil pan, if there was a wiped cam or failed AFM lifter an new oil pump might not be a bad idea, you'll need a normal valley pan, if you don't want to have it tuned for no AFM you might be able to use an ECU for a 4.8 with 58x reluctor or use on of those goofy deals that plugs into the OBDII port and disables AFM. Depending on where you are if you have to pass emissions you might not be able to have a tune. If you don't it might not be a bad idea to put some headers on there too for $200 off eBay. Probably has 799/243 heads they're pretty good, if you did have valve seat wear or worn pitted valves or any reason the heads might not be good, a set of remanufactured 706/862 heads is only like $400 off eBay they perform better than 243/799 on a 5.3 even though they have smaller valves, the NBS intake it has is the best performing stock piece for cathedral port heads it's just like a TBSS intake.
AutoZone owes you $4,500. They violated their own refund policy. They can't refund anyone but the original purchaser, not "whoever" is holding the receipt. Engine purchase requires a restock fee after ordering and confirmation of cancelled delivery. Improper refund & possible "inside job" by staff. What store manager gives a $4k refund without calling to confirm with the contact number on the receipt? Not here in Cleveland, not gonna happen HERE... LoL 😅
Not true have you ever workied in parts if the guy had a commercial account and buys parts there all the time as a mechanic its not the minimum wage employees job to play host to the jerry springer shows that take place daily
@@BigCountry1 My Dad & Grandfather were attorneys bro... They violated their own refund policy(s). Case, in court, is winnable in this instance. It was HER engine & SHE paid for it. HE "illegally" got a refund. Try again. They dropped the ball on a large purchase. All about liability. In this particular case? They are liable to HER as the purchase origin, not the guy.
@@jasonpocaro2730 I’m reading AutoZone’s in-store policy right now. Returns only require a receipt showing the purchase had been made within the last 90 days. The rest is left to the discretion of the store. Do you know how many pissed off customers you would have if only the original purchaser could return an item? Furthermore, it is a “policy” not a contract. A policy is not binding. The only way a lawyer would take this civil manner is to go after the creep boyfriend.
@@dirgeofdementia Lets see you return an item at AZ, with my wholesale account # on a receipt? 🕵 Your not only going to fail, your probably gonna get arrested after they call me. That's the "policy" here in Cleveland. You can't get a return UNLESS you were the purchaser, receipt or not. Now, cash/retail sales? That's anything goes. Anywhere in the garbage, dig out a cash receipt, even at Walmart, and you can return just about anything, at any time. NOW... If your dumb enough to leave any copy of an engine purchase ($4k) Let alone the store manager is dumb enough to have ACCESS to that 4 thousand IN CASH, well, that's just all around stupid. That's what a debit card is for... Use it and they have no choice but to "reverse" that charge BACK to that original card. Cash was a mistake BY ALL... BUT, the fact that they gave a full refund on an engine already on order, is shady as hell. It was already processed and was "on the way" as soon as they hit enter and they paid for it. This screams of an "inside" job. Oh, by the way. I got pictures of AZ staff, in the parking lot, doing brake jobs with their own parts. Double dipped job perks or illegal side hustle? Hmmm... 😳 Most parts counter salespeople are morons. They don't know CRAP about cars at all, let alone "proper" business practices. They can BARELY get the parts correct, because they don't ask the right questions, like engine size or model of vehicle, but they tend to ignore the noted Parts section that CLEARLY states 4x4 or AWD, which is very important to doing the job correctly THE FIRST TRIP with parts and not having their parts delivery guy return (2 or 3 times) to get a simple brake job done. Moral of this story: use debit card, keep receipt and use O'Reilly's auto parts. 😎👍 So you Don't get a 🥒 in your bum. 😱

Wow this is why you don't let "friends" help you "handle things" when all you know about them is what they've told you. Especially when they are all to eager to "help" and you barely know them. So the son is capable but wasn't aware of any of this until after? Sometimes victim blaming is appropriate. I swear there are people that set them selves up to get screwed in order to get attention. 🙄

Of course AUTOZONE wants to back her in court. Their scared that she’s going to suit them. & she should AUTOZONE really messed up by refunding him the money when the receipt had her name on it. Go get a Attorney let AUTOZONE pay for their mistakes
You don’t need a lawyer for small claims court
you cant trust anyone anymore /small business owners really need to be very careful .protect yourself and get a contract signed
Sounds like the flex plate. I would check that first
Tell my boyfriend bring my jeep back ole son lol y'all rock brother
You never choose me to be the winner wish I was lucky 😢
no it's not the same thing really, it's a cutlass, if it was a regal then it's basically the same thing.
They can BARELY get the parts correct, because they don't ask the right questions, like engine size or model of vehicle, but they tend to ignore the noted
Parts section that CLEARLY states 4x4 or AWD, which is very important to doing the job correctly THE FIRST TRIP with parts and not having their parts delivery guy return (2 or 3 times) to get a simple brake job done. Moral of this story: use debit card, keep receipt and use O'Reilly's auto parts. 😎👍 So you Don't get a 🥒 in your bum. 😱
@@jasonpocaro2730 Umm… yeah. I’m sure there is something resembling an idea in that garbled mess of what you believe is a response, but I have better things to do than sort through a nonsensical, meandering ramble.
This video gives me trailer park vibes 🤣
100%
Haha, those are some authentic vibes because that’s where we’re from. Some people you can take out of the trailer park but your not taking the trailer park out of them.
Your family is like mine lol but we in the trailer park in Washington state
Really good video JD I could tell you did a ton of editing on that one
Dont suppose ya are outta central Florida are ya????
Dayum! So Sad!
Sounds like it was possible just a collapsed lifter or broken valve spring.
I saw 540 and realized you were from VA, im in Charlottesville
There's your c10 motor right there JD.. buy from Bob!
What I want to know is:
WHO CONFIRMED THAT THE ENGINE WAS BAD?
I put 5 motors in one truck in a week from Auto zone that all blew up so watch them Thay are no good
Winchester is 45 mins from Me. I'm in Hancock Maryland
My friend paid for a man to build him an engine. The man moved and took the engine with him.
Hope things get better for your mom
Trouble seems to find her
@@JD_JoyrideTV wonder why man? Seems like a very lovely person
I bought my very first 400 small block through advanced Auto parts 3500 that was 10 years ago
All it needed was new lifters, should of bought a dod delete kit from Texas speed.
Autozone has been selling junk engines since they opened I worked there in high school back in the mid 90's and I'd be half were returned
But the issue you were having sounds like the typical bad pickup seal issue which sounds just like an exhaust leak so all and all sounds like Bob messed that one up for you
I agree bob got a great engine for free you can bet he swapped it out for the other engine. Lol
Tbh on those 5.3s the cam lobs can be worn done causing what you hear! Also the lifters can be worn
I would not trust a reman engine from any auto parts store. They use the cheapest parts and you have to take the vehicle to one of their places for the warranty work
that cutlass is something
Change out the coil pack for the down cylinder bet that's all it is
I'm glad it was not AutoZone selling a bum motor! DIY people put trust in brand names. We have scammers in my small town and everybody knows them but they still try their best to get us.
That so called boyfriend can be arrested. Call the atty.general consumer affairs division in Richmond va and ask them about who to talk to and have him arrested.
I work at autozone and I'm sorry this happened to you not all autozone are bad
Yes!!!! They are!!
Sounds like the active fuel management it will never run right unless you delete it. My 07 kinda sounds like that but until the cam grenades itself f it. Those 5.3 LH6 are bullet proof but the computers and fuse boxes corrode bad and fast and if it's in the "rust belt" good luck. My 07 has 320k miles on it and they were not easy miles.
sounds like a stuck lifter use code reader it will say missfire on iether 6 or 7..take valcover off the drivers side start it and look for a rocker not moving
So autozone didn't scam you..mom's boyfriend did ......your blaming autozone for your own mistake...
I get it...I know it's not your fault Right..🤦,,,,, 🙄,,,,,come on change the heading..to my mom was a sucker.....
Never shop at auto zone
Should have just checked for exhaust manifold leaks .. maybe lifters if that didn't solve it .. dod delete kit .. fixed .. 🤷
So, the takeaway:
Don't date Primo or Pronto or whatever-his-name-is.
And AutoZone sells engines! 🤣🤣🤣
*EDIT*: Also, this woman doesn't respect lawnmower mechanics!
Rocker arm, pushrod, lifter, etc
Auto zone shouldn't have even returned the money my opinion they are liable 4,500 dollars should have been a red flag and Pronto shouldn't have had possession of the receipts
Mrs Hot 🔥 mess lol
Says it’s an 87 with a 84 front plate lol. I have a 84 I’m building one now.
Bottom ends about to eject from the oil Pan
Sounds Like you never added oil
moms truck mom has....i hope you can get the truck fixed.
or, get reference to the best shop in town, and have pros diagnose the problem. most likely it would have cost you a lot less. also, look at the outside of the building, for the big ASE signage, and ask the management there to have only an ASE cerfied Masterer Mechanic, diagnose and fix the problem. never pay big money to someone you know.
Family we got to love them
That's right Pete's garage ya change that topic
If u pay with cash a person can get it back a bank card ECT u gotta have the same card of reseat
Where he buy his engine
Did not expect a Jerry Springer episode... Jesus Christ
Dang bro I hope things turn out right she deserves it. Sorry to hear this jd
