My kit plus some other supplies and pen kits should be here this week, really nice that Jon does a video with his products...

Hi Mick. just took delivery of your kit. I priced out the cost of a similarly designed sander at my local woodworking store here in Norway. It was 3 times the price of your kit even with the delivery cost. So I'm very happy with my purchase as I have been wanting a sander like this for years but was never willing to pay such an outrageous price.

Thanks Adam, I hope it will be useful but more importantly they are great fun to make and don't forget the guide is only a guide - you can make it exactly as you want it to be. Jon.

Just bought one of these kits and now after watching video can't wait for it to turn up and make it. Especially as I've just made my own carbide tools with handles.

I'll be buying one of these kits shortly but in the meantime I'm going to make just the sanding head to go in a my Ryobi drill for power sanding. I'll be using JCB mesh sanding sheets. These are open mesh sheets that come in a pack of 4 (80,120, 180 & 240 grit) and are hook & mesh backed. JCB claim they last 4x longer than sandpaper. I've used a sheet of 80 grit on my home made bench sander and it certainly doesn't clog like normal sanding discs do. Well worth a try and normally available from larger B&Q branches. Not expensive (price may vary but I paid £6.00 for a slightly damaged pack of 4). The sheets are 280mm x 230mm and you should be able to get 20 50mm discs per sheet with a couple of strips left over.

Great idea, trying new things is what makes these things fun, that is how we came to put the kit together - we never intended to sell them until we discovered how long it takes to source all the bits. Good Luck. Jon.

Made one of these - use it on every bowl! Very easy to put together, although the handle I made isn't quite as nice as Jon's! :-)
