What an episode 😮 The 26th - 30th April 2024 outbreak was intense. Just 4 and 3 days before the Westmoreland tornado we'd had the EF4 in Elkhorn, Nebraska and the EF4 in Marietta, Oklahoma too. The footage that you got right under the twisting funnel of the Westmoreland tornado was incredible. NSC
That was intense! After being a storm spotter since I was 16 (more than 30 years ago), the Westmoreland tornado was the first one I've ever seen. I didn't have the pleasure of seeing it up close and personal like that. For me, it was off in the distance, but I did get a very good view of it. This footage is golden! Thank you for sharing your adventures, Reed. Stay safe out there!
I will also NEVER forget watching this tornado chase live. That horizontal monster writhing above the chase team was unbelievable. The myriad shapes that tornado took on was insane. Remembering those impacted was gut wrenching.
When you are stuck in a ditch like in the video, the best way to be recovered (in this scenario) you should turn your wheels INTO the ditch - put the truck in reverse - moderate throttle - and have some pull you back wards. Your tires will climb you out of the ditch better than trying to go forwards. Watch any of MattsOffroadEecovery you’ll see the same thing!! Awesome video guys

As we walked to the main building the hail stopped kinda about half way to the main building and I looked up and saw what looked like an individual cloud I can only explain as a shaky rope going up and down in and out of the clouds above us. That is when the winds picked back up and knocked a couple of classmates over, including myself. Then the wind kinda stopped and shifted direction in a split second, but we we were still getting hit by hail stones. Just as we got to the main building . It finally touched down, maybe 15 miles away from where I was and wasn't even an EF1, but it did cause some minor damage. After that day, I have wanted to see a tornado in person from a close enough to hear it but a safe distance.
