I disagree concerning the comparison of a picture and the photograph. The photograph is what Perry looked like a point in time...a general in his uniform, unaltered. But the hand-painted/drawn picture was a representation of what the person saw, almost a caricature of the general, or an exaggerated view. The latter would be an example of the perspective of the artist. But the photograph...not. It just 'is'.

Thanks so much for the thoughtful reply, @Ceadda. The understanding of perspective/opinion/representation is an ongoing one and it is something that many people can hold different views on. You might enjoy this blog article on it as well: www.historyskills.com/2021/07/01/the-difference-between-opinion-and-perspective/

Thanks for the question. There isn't a specific transcript at the moment. However, the video has an online article with the same information. I hope it helps: www.historyskills.com/source-criticism/analysis/perspective/

    2. What impact can perspective have on the way a story is told?

Late to this comment but here’s an example. Americans view the war of independence as an origin story for their entire country. The brits tend to view it as a bit “meh” because it was a small colony in comparison to the rest of the empire. We had bigger things happening such as the French getting bolshy across the channel. The war of independence isn’t even covered in history lessons because it just wasn’t that big of a deal for us.
