Thanks for the comment. I will try and do a relatively in depth couple of lessons on this song. I will play the rest in drop D tuning rather than open D.
Great lesson, what pedals are you using to get the tone on this ? I’m currently using a boss me 70 but still getting used to it , I know John squire is fond of ts, fuzz and chorus, Cheers Dan
Not sure about his tuning in the original as I saw two different theories, I did it as I did because it felt right with my transcription but you could convince me otherwise! I would have thought the intro with the slide was an overdub and then the main bulk was a different guitar track. But you never know!
Theres a video on youtube of the isolated guitar that i learned it from, if you havent come across it yet, super sweet resource. Handier to have the whole thing learned in one tuning aswell so you can play along to the whole thing! :)
Theres this one double stop in the middle of the song actually, on the g and b strings that i reckon proves its in dadgad actually hahaha Sidenote: its so lovely to share the super trivial stuff ive noticed about the song from playing along to it hundereds of times
Love the choice of a “Squier” to play this 😉
You know it!
Wish his name was John
Oh, man, finally! I've been waiting for so many years for someone to make a lesson on this song!

No worries. More vids on this song to come soon!
Thanks for this. An in depth version would be great as there are no other lessons on this song anywhere. Is it possible to play in standard tuning?

I embarrassingly cannot remember! I do have a Fuzzface Face and I love my Neo Clone Chorus! My favourite distortion pedal is a MXR custom '78 Badass!
Please make an in-depth lesson of the whole song, Paul!
Will do it might end up being in a few parts though!
Nice one sounds great
Many thanks!
My High E just snapped while I was tuning it down. It never does this when I tune up, but always down.
Yep I have definitely had that a few times. It makes no sense!

Thank you Paul! That sounded amazing my friend, excellent tutorial I'll definitely be giving that a go
Thanks!
Is that a squire stratocaster? I have one!
Yes I have had it since 1997! I love it!
great, thanks -
You're welcome!
Can play the whole thing in dadgad, pretty sure thats how its played originally, also he doesnt take the slide off till the outro
Yeah that's definitely how he does it live. I might at some point look at a live version as it does sound so cool with the slide throughout!

Yes true one tuning is a bit easier! I'll check out the isolated video. Thanks for the information I appreciate it.
