FACTS. Listing your bike on Marketplace for a ridiculous high price is often an attempt to pacify a controlling and threatening wife when she says “It’s me or the motorcycle”. He doesn’t really want to sell it. He wants an extension.

Having lived here in San Diego for 3 years now, the motorcycle market is insane. Used prices are near or over brand new because dealerships want to add crazy markup and every possible dealer fee. It’s honestly crazy

I’ve seen a couple of them that are crazy priced. There are literally three other Japanese 600’s that are just as good. The zx6r may even be better, now that it has been updated. As soon as they bring the cbr600rr over here, it will be better. Anybody that pays more than $12,000 for one right now is going to regret it in a year or two, when they try to resell for $20k. 😂
2:18 Just bought a bike from a guy in Nov. He had a loan through a local credit union. Wrote one check to the credit union and one to him for the balance. I had a bill of sale notarized and took the bike home. A week or two later the guy mailed me the title. Super easy process. Harley also offers a Rider to Rider program that takes care of all the loan stuff for you for a fee. So buying a bike that is financed is super easy to do just a couple extra steps.
I bought one from a guy who had a loan. I gave him the cash to pay off the loan, but he gave me the title and 2 keys. He showed me the payoff amount from his lender. It’s was only $1500. He paid it the next day and got the lien release and I gave him the rest for the bike. It was a little sketchy, but it worked out.
Always fun to see these 😆I think Yam definitely DMed the seller to get the FZ1 himself. 💯And I wouldn't even blame him. He seemed so enthusiastic about it.

Listings like that $5k used 2020 Grom are why I bought a new one.
Most dealers in Northern California are selling R3’s and asking for $1800 in mark ups and $200 freight charges even though the bikes are already on the lots, and the Commie-fornia taxes the hell out of gas, title, registration, smog abatement, etc

6:15 Ducati Hypomotard -possibly a stolen bike in a sketchy place - just going to see this bike, could get you killed. this guy may be a gang member, just trolling for fools. You go here in your nice truck, with three grand in your pocket. A week later, the police find your truck has been driving all over somewhere else, and you have been buying things in different places, at the same time, all on the same day. Thing is, no one ever sees you again. Be very careful where you buy anything for sale from a private citizen.
8:37 CfMoto crazy price- that bike has major electrical issues and he wants to dump it on a fool. The price is a distraction. A new battery on this bike was a band aid that did not work. Stay away.

the dealership I bought my bike from adds tenders to every single one of their bikes they bring through the shop... truly something so simple yet so good to have done for you. I think they add like $30 to every bike as a surcharge but don't care, worth it.
Ugh marketplace smh best and worse place to buy anything let alone a bike, my area is flooded with bikes that have NO TITLE🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️

SoCal pricing is just insane. Many of the people posting are getting hosed from the dealer. The other half of it is that they are paying the markups only to pass them along to the next owner. Fun fact, a honda grom will be listed by dealers as msrp but will triple all the extras no other states dare to do.

I have a VSETT 10+R scooter. I don't know how people don't wear gear for faster scooters. Not a motorcycle replacement, but it is fun to throw around in my trunk and go explore places.
I live on a dirt road and it's a task to keep my Super Cub clean and shiny, there is no way that guy is taking that Grom off-roading and it still looks that new.
I've been checking for listings in SD for a year, everything is so expensive but ended up getting a pretty good deal on a vstar a couple weeks ago.

There's nothing wrong with buying a vehicle with a loan on it. It just requires a little extra work to make sure the loan info is correct, and to fill out a bill of sale, or equivalent for your state, instead of signing over a title. I've done it in both directions before.
Lol funny story. I went to a dealership to get a grom and at the end of my visit I asked them why they are selling groms for 6k out the door. 😂
Look, you put a seat and some foot pegs on that scooter it becomes a foldable stealth bomber bike, its closer to a bicycle than a motorcycle at sub 2k its the cheapest fun on this list; you don't have to register or have a license to operate one, something to consider.
A 1999 motorcycle in San Diego without rust on it, is HIGHLY suspect.
Do one on dirt bikes! The way people describe not having a title is prime content.
Side note about the first listing… please don’t finance a motorcycle unless it’s truly transportation for you. You should never finance a toy. Even if you have decent credit, the interest rates are brutal. If it’s unavoidable, but as much cash down as possible, but be careful and don’t put yourself upside on a loan on a brand new bike.
The Grom has a SHREDDER decal....that justifies the $5K price tag instantly!

Getting a bit of oil out of the exhaust on start. I'm thinking maybe gaskets or maybe a bad valve.
Any suggestions ?
Outside of some rough warming up, idles too low before it's warm and will die if you give it a little gas then back to idle (thinking fuel lines or injectors need replaced or cleaned). Thing runs pretty good once it's all warmed but definitely needs some love.
Can you look at bikes other than all sports bikes?

I bought my '99 Suzuki Bandit 600 w/ 26,000mi off Facebook for £1000 last year as my first bike after having had my 125cc for a year and then passing my test. I've probably spent about £500 on it since (new tyres and few other parts). Love it!

I have a feeling the seller will insist on "cash only -- bike must be picked up in person in Mexico" and the buyer won't be seen again until his picture appears on the side of a milk carton. Everything about that ad is a giant flashing red flag.

In the spirit of the Honda Grom one that you were talking about, I saw a listing on Facebook too recently, and the guy was going on and on in his description about how much it cost him to get it out the door with the dealer fees and all that stuff and he was trying to sell it For just as much or a little bit more than it would cost if I was to get a brand new one at the dealer I’m like dude I don’t give a crap about your dealer fees. I don’t give a crap about the money you spent on that or the money you spent on the aftermarket stuff you put on it you don’t get compensated for that when you sell the bike it is worth what it is worth Stop trying to get all of your money back. It’s not gonna happen at least not for me. The heck with that hat I’m gonna get out. I’m gonna get one that’s like three or four years old that has some miles on it. Screw that I mean there might be some dumbass. That’s willing to pay that but yeah, not me and why the heck would you ever pay more than it would cost you to get out the door no.

I traded a 2005 Z750S for a 2002 FZ1 that had been wrecked and put back on the road and $200 cash. Why? Simply because it has the exact same engine as my 2001 Champions Edition R1 with different carbs. I will fix it, ride it, and cannibalize it if my R1 needs hard to find parts. Wheelies better than my R1, any MT series, and is comfortable to ride.
56K is a lot for a motorcycle? You're buying the wrong bikes. The last two I sold had around 95K (each) and, to the the best of my knowledge, are still running.
Depends on the owner. As he said, if the owner takes care of the bike, 56K is not much. If they don't, it could be almost worthless at 56K.
