They’re selfish af and rip you off just to sell it for ten times as what you sold for. Those experts were probably even told to value it at such a low price prior to recording.

      Lizard Yup. Sports memorabilia is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it, there is no KBB for it. And trying to price something for what 1% of fans will pay for it is hilarious, all the while forgetting auction fees, and other associated costs. The funny part is the 7k offer was probably thousands more than his greedy self purchased it for. The only thing that guy will be doing with that base is storing it.

      The thing with pawn shops and GameStop is that they are trying to earn more money than what they buy the item for. People will sell at pawn shops because you get money on the spot. If he tries to sell that independently, then it would take months for somebody to buy an item with such a large price tag.

      5 bases from the 2016 World Series have fetched well over 100k, so this statement couldn’t be more false. The ones that “Average” the 5k range you’re referencing are most from warmups, infield practices, & pre-Game media conferences. 3 Bases from 7 have fetched over 250k at auction, they were game used & Signed by the Cubs. One was signed by the entire team & coaching staff. Another was signed the same way, but also included signatures from Theo Epstein, Jed Hoyer, & Tom Ricketts. The most iconic one was 1st base from game 7 that was used during the extra innings (post rain delay) that was used in recording the final out of the game, securing the series win for the Cubs. The base was signed by Anthony Rizzo, the Cubs first basemen (until 2 days ago) that caught the final out of the 2016 World Series. You couldn’t have purchased the dirt off that base for 5k. That will be sold for multi-Millions years from now, that’s a fact. Most game used bases from innings 7-9 are brining in upwards of 50k. Those with signatures are going for even more. Trust me, I had to bid on 6 bases before I won an auction. It cost well over 5k.

    Looked this up. As of the posting of this comment 3-24-19 it us up for sale on e-bay for $25,499.15 it was posted there originally for $29,999.00, so he came down 15% so far. Ships from Las Vegas, so I'm assuming it's this same guy still trying to sell it. This game was their first victory in a World Series game since 1965, so if you're a Cubs fan that does seem pretty cool, I guess. I imagine home base or the pitchers mound would be more desirable than 1st base, but if I had to guess this is a more iconic game from the series than others based on it being the first victory since the 60s. Who knows, I think he might be able to get what he wants eventually. Imagine in 10-20 years or more if the Cubs don't win another series, that would probably make it much more collectable but that ofc would take time.

  • @davidvaldez9670
    @davidvaldez9670 7 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    "Grand Daddy of baseball memorabilia"? Hardly, i can a list of several thousand pieces of baseball memorabilia that are more desired and valuable. There are literally over a thousand baseballs out there that are worth more and are more desired. I am not saying it's not cool, but it's a long way from "one of a kind" baseball memorabilia other then to a Cubs fan. They change the bases several times per game meaning there are like 100 of these of more floating around, not to mention HOMEBASE would be the most desired and even then there is probably 10 or more of those out there just for this one series. This hardly makes it's ultra rare, just unusual to see.
