I don't watch these videos for any reason other than the pure satisfaction in watching a master at work. Another job well done!
Thanks 👍
I watch these to remind myself: "This stunt is performed by a trained professional. Please do not try this at home."
if he was a kid on a playground what would that make u
For me it brings back memories of watching my dad soldier and repair his own equipment. I recall back in the day my dad designing his own circuits with a blank pcb, straightedge ,black permanent marker, and some sulphuric acid I believe it was that exposed the boards. He built his first ham radio repeater back in the early 70’s.
But he doesn't like Radeon cards,
Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeee 🤡
This channel has everything. Impossible fixes. Nerdy jokes. Dancing ducks. DANCING DUCKS!!!
And epic guitar solos from kittens :V
The fact that you shrug off a reball on an absolutely massive BGA as a quick preventative action cracks me up. I'm amazed how far you're able to push no-name chinese tools and pull off seemingly impossible repairs on a regular basis. You definitely deserve the title of master.
Half of it is skill, half of it is having the proper tools for the job. Can't succeed without both parts.
@@YouCanHasAccount Proper flux and solder goes a long way too. I can't remember how many different types of flux he's talked about.
the chiptune music was a very nice touch
Watching your videos, makes me realize that everything on this life can be repaired. Every single problem has a solution. Dont ever drop the towel guys!!
Didn't expect to see dancing Subaru duck here😂
When searching for "dancing duck" Subaru is like half the results. I've seen so many people use that gif not knowing what it is.
This is brilliant we get spoiled with all these repairs :)
$2,000 piece of equipment, more than some cars i owned, and people treat it like a play thing to be tossed around and disrespected
if they had the money to waste they would have bought a new one instead. the fact they sent it to northwestrepair to fix means that they aren't that rich. they're just clumsy and careless
I bought a used 3090 Ti off eBay awhile back. The seller shipped the damn thing in a large generic box with no bubble wrap or padding. A corner of the PCB was broken, and the heatsink was bent all to hell. The seller was clueless as to why there was so much damage.
@@LiquidSnakeSSJ4There's a spectrum of stupidity, my guy. Debt. If they literally can't afford to buy a new one because they’ve pushed the budget on the last one then repair is literally the only option. 99% of the people buying these things don't need them and can't justify the cost for professional work. Why would you assume they’re all (or mostly) rich???
this is better than Netflix. Love the music choice too.
This is cinema!
Where is color is real!
The kitty Van Halen needs to be a mascot for the reball procedure!
I love that duck!
I'm impressed by that cooler. 400+ watt and keeping it at 60c.
Yeah me too 😀
Its a in house built on ? @@northwestrepair
And the short is gone. Great work Tony. You're the man with balls who reball without any need of it 😁
GPU used as a hockey puck: Tony says; "Yeah I can fix that!" LOL!!!!!
Sleep can only be peaceful after a day of honest and professional work. Or for me after watching minutes of your work. Thank you
Hey man just a heads up the trace repair at 24m goes to the capacitor which has a crack through it further up.. If you rewatch it you can clearly see what I'm talking about could cause future issues but anyways keep up the good work have a good one and God Bless..
I loved the dancing duck
This wizardry was the best thing i watched today!! Thanks man !!!
Hello🤝Tony, I admire your patience, not everyone would be able to complete this repair, it's obvious that you have passion for what you do and fight until the end, best regards👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👋👋👋👋👋👋
you really went the extra mile on this one, the trustworthiness is strong with this one
I have to say that your background music is a real diamond, like the repairs. :D
I liked the new soundtrack!
Is anyone else capable of doing what this guy does? It's pure magic. Awesome!
This is just damn fine nerd TV.. and satisfying to watch for sure. I’m in line for a repair, I’d love to watch
Really appreciate your videos and you showing how you repair those cards, it's nice to see when hardware isn't going to waste and the skills needed to perform the repairs in action, it's really an art, also like the humor. Thank you!
The poor little *cough* *cough* broken card that could 😁👏👌
Also that song and no guitar Kitty 😮
Been watching your videos the last 2 days and you're damn good at what you do. Hell yeah brother
Hell of a repair! To tell you the truth i personally am trying out repairs of this kind for years and it looks so much simpler in your videos than in rl.. it's a skill, that is dying breed because of skill needed to get just an entry. Cudos to you my brother !
Well Done..actually..Bloody Well Done Mate..your a bonefide legend. A supertalent of sorts.. thanks for the learnings, great content..again.. and the zippy tunes.appreciated..
wow. I was sure this board would not boot without a reball at the least! Nice work!
I come here to listen your voice and see core reball with some nice music
Watching every one of your videos for a while now. Thanks for the enjoyment and showing the masterful work you do.
Loving the first chiptune that is playing, mind sharing it ?
Adding that fuse was a real good idea here.
It blows my mind how you pull this off
i am amazed at your work your very talented 10/10
Music and dancing duck 🦆 need more of that 😂
Great job as always man
Tony... Where's the Kitty Van Halen with the guitar!!??!! He didn't show up on the reballing part of the Zotac! (There you have my comment because I have nothing better to do ha!)
-Deuces!
Yeah the kitty van halen was cute af and made me laugh so hard
@@aliensounddigital8729 After 3 Zotac's I think we can give Tony a break with editing!
-Decues
Like the new tester, any chance for a video. Great Gpu videos .
you are truly a master technician
Love the old school gaming music
I have the exact same model and i wanted to replace thermal paste and pads because temps are higher now than they used to be. I couldn't find information about the thermal pad size anywhere though so i don't know which to buy.
Perhaps you might have measured them?
That was an incredible repair btw. Keep up the amazing work 😁
Amazing every time!
Nice dancing duck!
13:00 there is a lot of copper shreds from drilling. Tony, you can sell that to copper recycling v
It's only a few micrograms. Copper scrap (clean #1) is only like USD $4 a lb at scrap yard.
Bro was joking my guy
Great job
Good work 💯👏🎉
Unbelievable... Its magic...
always amazes me that gpus these days weigh so much without decent supports , but this give you work so its a win win =)
I am glad you also noticed the hairline crack i think a new board but love watching you find problems and fixing them. '20.45 I am still watching"
22:16 the damage is big, if the lower plane do not short you are good to go, but the user will need to have extra attention and some way keep the board from moving to much once in the slot or it will short
Great viideo i have a question which liquid fo you use is that isopropanol?
Great repair as always!
33:30 But where is the kitty guitarist?!
this one scored better than yesterdays LOL
good work
Man Tony, I don't see how you can see where traces need to be connected. It's so confusing seeing you grind away and connect things. At least when the trace repair is on a single top layer, I can tell where your sending the electricity. With this on multiple different layers, it's so confusing because you'd think that the electricity would just connect still above the crack. Your on another level man. I know it may take you longer but some day could you go into a little more detail about multiple layer repairs like this?
I too also initially found this confusing but if you think that each layer needs to be reconnected together across the crack, it should make it easier to understand. Tony got lucky on this repair but there are many others he's completed which required him to repair many layers from the bottom up.
@@ThePopolou I just still dont understand how he can see it. This man's the goat of gpu repairs.
@@danielhulan3058Sometimes it's just magic how he knows where each trace goes.
It helps that some layers are a continuous plane of copper, don't need to worry about those, working traces will show up as copper dots either side of the carved valley, since the traces on any one layer can't cross over each other it's literally a game of connect the dots + operation where you cant let anything touch (using the UV resist)
If Tony leaves a message and signs on the back plate, he would simply turn a dead card to a working collectible one.
I wonder how could anyone spend above a thousand dollars on a GPU and not be really careful with it?!
I am thinking of buying a new GPU, in your opinion, which brand and type would you recommend as you see everything, I would take your advice. Greatest channel for repairs on YT.
I don't get how a card gets this damaged.
Just horrible handling during installation?
I will NEVER have one of those crappy 4090 cards :)
When I saw the crack I thought this board is finished for good. I still don't understand how you brought it back.... My pc still not vertical after so many years for this reason so my GPUs can stand in the slot as they were designed originally and not hang in it. 😀
If I would have seen that crack, it would be a no fix straight away 😂
Can you share how how do for measuring the volts amp amps, and parts to build or links to buy ... And the schematic to build like yours ... Thanks... Greattings from Portugal 🇵🇹 🌟
All information you need is in his discord channel
@@tungnguyenthanh7757In what section? I don't find that...
What kind of glue and brand do you use for those cracks ?
Is there a difference between the two colors of mask you used here?
rockin' ending :)
I hope your customer got these cards for next to nothing because like you said resale could be a nightmare if they don't hold up
What solder mask do you use? I have mechanic solder mask and it doesnt seem strong enough to do the kind of repair you do unless I were to use some sort of fiberglass to strengthen it but even then I think it'd break too easily
"I don't see any crack."
This reminds me of a joke... 😁
In what conditions does a PCB start to look like a dried raisin? Do 4090's require some special case that simulates environment of a rain forest
Great repair! I wonder how you can dmg your equipment like that though O . o
I built a computer for my friend 10 years ago and one day he had the side cover off and his dog slammed into it and bent the video card.
They should make a tougher pcb outline in these expensive cards
ur chair needs some attention too😂
Why no epoxy all the long of crack and more(3-4cm) for make more better resistance and chance for not return to death crack? Sorry, I m not speak English, hello from Switzerland 👍🏻
Dancing Duck. 💃😁
It just confounds me people can be so rough with their cards this type of PCIE damage can only happen for people not installing or removing properly. Having seen literally hundreds of cards in PCIE slots some even from dropped PCs that have hit the floor it is a bit like the laptop repair industry fixing cracked screens and liquid damage. Owners often don't deserve the equipment and more properly deserve the repair bills they get for not being respectful of complicated/sensitive equipment.
What ppl even do to crack and dmg there cards
Would it make sense to inject around 0.5V in the 12V rail to see where in the crack the short is coming from before digging deeper? Or would that potentially harm the card?
yeah but why
@@northwestrepair So that you know where to dig deeper, or where to separate copper on the side of the hole a bit better. Or do you just dig deeper because if there's still an issue, there might be other invisible issues remaining as well?
I can see at least two colors!
Alex from northridgerepair stepped up his game ill tell you what
we got the song, but not the kitten to go with it
nothing better to do indeed
Good Day
You know for a fact north ridge would not have recalled that core after they saw it performing after the repair.
i know you probably won't see this but can you please tell me the 3 resisters or capacitors on the evga 1070s that are common to burn out completely ve seen you repair them i have a evga 1070 with the same issue i fixed all the Short to grounds and i have no idea what the 3 resistors or i think their capacitors but its right near the 4 pin pwm for the fan thank you hopefully you read this
how do the layers short because of a crack or is it a open circuit?
It''s not just a crack, it's shifted internally so the layers no longer line up with each other and are shorting to the layers above/below.
I don't know how these expensive cards end up looking like they've been through a rage room. Some of the cooler damage is way beyond careless insertion/removal or insufficient support.
Rocking kitty was taking some time off :(
Does anyone know what grinding bit is he using?
This gave me PTSD
better than crackedery
0:16 captain Hoo
Where is the cat playing guitar ?
By 6 minutes I predict the card is too bent out of shape, it looks pretty bad. Will update after watching it all.
But how does a card end up needing a reball? I had cards from all ranges from all manufacturers and never had a problem, except 2080ti from evga 2 fan edition that was overheating and I changed the fans and cooling system…
The constant heating cycles typically but on this occasion Tony was perhaps more concerned that the aggressive handling flexed the board at the bottom which makes the lower RAM chip and the core vulnerable.
@@ThePopolou that’s why I was asking, I always overclocked my gpu’s and never had one failing, I’m only playing games…
@@johnodei618 If you keep your cards cool enough it will last more. But one day every card will fail due to lead free solder joints. Lead free can't handle much compared to leaded solder and that's the main problem for failure over time.
@@TriodeTetrode I understand, that 2080ti with custom cooler and fans from noctua got it under 70C under full load. But my current zotac 3080ti is going to 80-85C is this worrying?
@@johnodei618 Well the cooler the better. Under 70 degrees sounds very good for GPU. But I don't own any 3080 GPU so I don't know what is their "normal" temperature. 80-85 isn't that great in my opinion, but probably you can't get it lower with stock cooling either.
You didn't put in metal kitty for the last song 😿
This repair deservs a "Magical" 😂
do they play basketball with these cards or what?
im gana become one of you
I think he dropped it.
Yeah, the dancing duck is nice but we all know the real star in this show is the guitar cat. How dare you play his music without him??? I don't care about your really good repairs, i don't care about your clever diagnose proccess, i don't even care about how much i learn watching your videos. I WANT THE GUITAR CAT
