  • Cliffe Knechtle has a great conversation with college students at a campus in the southwest US.
The "Give Me An Answer" ministry began as an outgrowth of the dialogues Cliffe Knechtle has had with students on various university campuses throughout the United States. These universities include the University of Maine, Harvard, MIT, University of Florida, University of Texas, University of Wisconsin, University of Minnesota, University of California Los Angeles, University of California San Diego, Berkeley, Stanford, University of Hawaii and the University of Washington. Cliffe spoke on these campuses in front of the Student Union or Library at noon for five to ten minutes. At the close of his initial remarks, he'd open up the time for questions and answers, which usually turned into a two to four hour dialogue with students. His crowd size ranged from 25 - 500 students at a time, and between classes, new students would join the discussion. This is an extremely effective way to reach a large number of university students with the Gospel of Christ.

Lol _"seen by over 500 people"_ you say .
NAME THEM ?? where are their testimonies ?? You see you don't have 500 witnesses at all, what you have is "Paul" claiming he was told that 500 people saw him. That's what's known as "hearsay" which is so unreasonable it is not even admittable into court.
You could not be convicted of shoplifting based upon hearsay, yet you expect me to believe supernatural claims of virgin births, talking snakes, tribes of giants, magic, Angel's, mud figurines becoming living breathing man and a rib becoming a woman based on *THIS* 😂🤣😅😂🤣😅😂🤣😅

@@PokeMaster03 wow what NONSENCE upon so many different levels firstly there is a vast amount of evidence for George Washington, including laws and treaties he wrote, portraits he sat for all corroborated by people from around the world. 🤣😅🤣 Secondly evidence of some wandering delude Jewish rabbi called jesus existing would be completely mundane and unimportant. It is the supernatural attributes that he is claimed to have possessed that require evidence.
If someone were to tell me they had a dog in their garden I would require very little evidence to find this plausible and possibly true.
If they were to claim they had the rarest most expensive dog in the world my level of evidence required to be sufficient to warrant belief would increase dramatically.
But if theh were to say that had a DRAGON in their garden this is an extraordinary claim and thus would require extraordinary evidence.
No amount of hearsay evidence would be sufficient ( nevermind if it were placed in a 2000 year old unsigned book )
Christian's often use this same false analogy but citing Alexander the great instead of George Washington that also fails for precisely the same reason.
Now if you have EXTRAORDINARY evidence to match to extraordinary claims of a talking snake & donkey, tribes of giants, magic, witches, Angel's, virgin birth, zombies, mud figurines becoming men and rib becoming woman, all governed by an invisible man in the sky who says that the gathering of sticks on the sabbath is a crime worthy of death and that you should *"Buy your slaves from the heathen nations that surround you"*

I like this one because the event wasnt like most of the events that Im used to viewing on this channel. Usually you have someone opposing or engaging in a debate. this seemed like a young man who doesn't know where hes going, try to find some answers. The beginning of a James 5:20 moment "remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins." I hope this young man comes back to Christ and bears fruit and seeks after God and the Truth of the Gospel.
I also think its cool how it turns into a questionaire and constructive criticism talk IN FRONT OF a bunch of other college students who feel the same way, have the same questions, but may be to shy to step up and ask.

Sin is real and a lot of people are deceived by Satan. So it will be harder to find a saved person who practices the love of God through Jesus Christ. Notice I said harder, not impossible. Don’t give up on God. This is what you don’t do: compromise your faith in Christ just to have someone. Christians often make that mistake: getting involved with unbelievers just to have a spouse.

I liked the debate partner a lot. He asks good questions and i can see his point entirely. One thing I like to advise people with his or a similar world view is - try it. Put the gospel into practice. You don't have anything to lose (except for maybe 5 minutes a day). No "thinking atheist" (I mean not the militant, hateful ones, but the moderates, thoughtful) says "I'm 100% sure god doesn't exist and nobody can ever convince me otherwise." So you can just kneel down, say out loud, whisper, or just in your head "Hey there, Jesus, God, whatever, I don't know if you exist, but if you do, please give me a sign." Or something similar. Listen to some people maybe, who are convinced christians (I came to faith via Prof. John Lennox' speeches and debates and some more stuff).
People come to faith and believe in different ways. I'm the more scientific, pragmatic kind of person, I like a coherent theory, that is applicable to life and all scenarios. Some people (especially girls, as far as my experience goes) are more influenced by their heart, they have to "feel" that something is true. I had friends of mine saying things like: "Yeah that all sounds pretty logical, but as of now I cannot believe it, it doesn't fully convince me."
And I believe, that god will come to you exactly the way you need it, if you just ask and try.
    Good video.

God isn’t a theory. Evolution is a theory. The Big Bang is a theory, but God isn’t a theory. With God faith covers for those who don’t have an intellectual background in logic. Abraham had faith because he experienced God. “ But without faith, it is impossible to please Him. He who comes to God must believe He is and that He rewards those who diligently seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6.

You can choose how you understand any given moral action or whether or not to hold onto any given moral action but you learned what morality was because you learned or did not learn about any given moral action.
You can create as well "it is moral acceptable to chew gum" or "it's not morally acceptable to drink water in a plastic cup" but my friend, do not kill, steal or lie was written thousands of years ago.

Great video. I would say don't follow false Christianity. A Christian is a follower of Jesus Christ and also means to be "Christ-like." Followers during Biblical times and in the 1st-3rd century were called either Christians or disciples (Acts 11:25-26). A disciple is follower of Christ and devots his or her life to Christ and living the lifestyle of Christ. Yes don't follow false Christianity but follow Christ and we can't let what hypocrites and people who claimed to be a Christian but their actions not measuring up hinder us from following Jesus and who Jesus was when we walked this earth and is every single day. Jesus is the way the truth and the life and he is about love and loves us all and tells us to love others no matter what ethnic background, gender, sex or how the person looks or what they believe in. Love conquers all.

FREEDOM is one of the MOST precious gifts from the Creator, Human beings are created as a free, spiritual being.
At the same time, however; they have received responsibility from God, for freedom requires self-discipline and self-restraint.
Freedom cannot exist apart from the law.
In the universe, physical law and spiritual law are at work, and they ultimately restrict freedom. For instance, it is your freedom to jump from the top of a hotel. But this free action results in self-destruction because it goes against the natural law.

the concept of "GOD knows everything before a person does it" , it's not so , let me explain why i say this ....
in Elohim great wisdom , "HE decided" to give men "free will" , no one is a robot or slaved against his/hers own will .
now , GOD "knows" exactly the consequences of the choices of men , but even when He loves all people , He will not force anyone to go against his/her will .
this is why us "followers of Y'shua" , "Christians" , we strugle in our daily life as to be consistent and obedient to Jesus/God because of the consequences of our decisions , BUT , in contrast to anyone who does not care about their spiritual life with the "Creator" , we have "ONE" who we can go to in any problem or circumstance , the decision is yours my friends .

Wow so much garbage in one comment,
lol freewill so just how did that work out for pharaoh when he wanted to let the jews go but GOD HARDENED HIS HEART , because he wanted to have a bit more fun first. You know a few more plagues , babies to kill ect.
Or how about Peter and the whole " you will deny me 3 times before the cock crows" stuff . Did he not have a say in the matter, could he not change his mind ?
You see this is the problem you cant have free will if the future is predetermined or if god interferes with people's decisions as he does many times In the bible.
Think of all these hundreds of so called prophesies in the bible , you have surely heard of the BUTTERFLY EFFECT were one tiny tiny change in an action has huge earth shattering implications for the future. Well if we truly had freewill then those aforementioned prophecies are out the window

'I'm an athiest because there's not enough evidence"
Oh I see, so you analyzed the Gospels' historicity, psychology, scholarly analysis, the origins of each book, how ACTS was compiled, how early these documents were compiled compared to other narratives such as Alexander the Great, what the enemies of Christ said of him, what convinced Saul of Tarsus to stop persecuting Jesus' followers and follow him himself, etc?
    "No."

    • @trumpbellend6717
      @trumpbellend6717 2 ปีที่แล้ว

historical accuracy of the bible has *ZERO* relevance to its authenticity. Even if the bible were written by mere ordinary superstitious primative tribesmen. They would still know about towns , places, people , leaders kings ect . That's the very LEAST we would expect.
Herodotus wrote about life in 500bc he spoke of real people and places does that mean his works are inspired of god ??? Of course not .
If some future archeological dig discovered the ruins of New York and the empire state building would they be justified in thinking *KING KONG* was therfore real ???? Nonsense.
There is no archeological evidence for anything supernatural only the normal mundane stuff we find with everything else.
Almost every fictional book ever written will contain references to real places and people even Harry Potter it means nothing.
However if there were historical INACCURACIES (and there are lots ) that's a different story.
When was jesus born for example ? Because the historical evidence disagrees alarmingly with the bible on that for starters .
Quirinius's census for example we know conclusively did not occur until 6 ad not 3 years before the death of herod but several years after. And yes I know there was more than one herod, I can go into detail if you like about how we know exactly which one it was and can cross reference with Mathew ect.
You DO NOT even know who wrote the scriptures. The names mathew mark luke and john are merely names assigned many years later as a matter of church tradition.
They talk in the third person and Non are contemporary The first manuscripts we have ARE NOT within 60 years of the time J.C. The P52 fragment of the gospel of John is the size of credit card is dated 125-175 ( although recent research puts the dat closer to 200 AD )
Take a look at the very first passage in luke he makes it very clear he was not an eye witness he says ( I'm paraphrasing from memory )
"There have been many different accounts over the years , I have looked into it and this is what I have concluded happened "
      How about non biblical witnesses?
Let's take a look at them shall we.
      *Thalus*
Lol no one even knows when he was writing about he was first quoted by theophilus of Antioch in 185 AD
And is often linked with jesus merely because he mentions judea going dark.
Apologists think this is a description of an eclipse at at jesus's crucifixion.
however THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE as this event is supposed to have occurred at passover. But an eclipse cannot occur at Passover when the moon is full and therefore diametrically opposite the Sun 😂😂
All you have is someone saying that at some time judea went dark lol
      *pliny the younger*
He wrote in AD 112 some 80 years after any supposed jesus lived.
And he most certainly does not attest to any miraculous events whatsoever.
But rather about how he should deal with the early Christian's whom the Roman's called *ATHEISTS* he said of them that his investigations have revealed nothing on the Christians' part but harmless practices and *"depraved, excessive superstition."*
      *suetonius*
In his biography he refers to agitations in the Roman Jewish community and the expulsion of Jews from Rome by Claudius during his reign. which christians CLAIM may be the expulsion mentioned in the Acts of the Apostles.
Well I hate to tell you this but you do realise that there were LOTS of agitation in the roman jewish community at that time.Have you heard of the JEWISH WARS?
Again no mention of any miracles or anything supernatural whatsoever.
Merely conformation that the were CHRISTIANS in those days , which no one denied.
Exactly the same applies to the others none were contemporary some living 150 years later. And they have nothing but hearsay with things such as " the jews believe this happened "
*SO WHAT* you can speak to THOUSANDS of living witnesses living NOW. Who will attest that they have been kidnapped by aliens.
They all tell very similar stories and can be questioned and yet these claims are regarded as false.
Because we know that the VERY LEAST RELIABLE form of evidence is witness testimony , ask any lawyer.
But you dont even have that you have hearsay at best that is not even admitted in court. And you want me to believe in talking snakes and donkeys giants witches and zombies based on THIS ??? 😂😂😂😂

How many times does God say we are born again? Once. If you are truly born again you can't be "'unborn". If you are truly saved you will live a life pleasing to God. You will always fall short of the glory of God but you're forgiven through the work of Jesus Christ on the cross. I think you are talking about people that told you they were saved but continue living like they did before they were saved. People take the once saved always saved deal out of context. If a person claims to be saved but refuses to turn away from their old sinful ways, they weren't really saved. A person that is really saved will turn away and make the best effort possible to follow Christ. You can't lose your salvation because you are forgiven. In order to receive the salvation to begin with you must believe that Jesus died on that cross for all of our sins and rose again on the third day. People can say they believe that but if they really don't they aren't saved. They won't turn (repent) away from their old life. I struggled with true repentance myself thinking I was saved as a teenager. I thought it was just me repenting of my sins that I already committed. I didn't understand repentance. I do now, tho. Once a person is truly saved by repentance and complete faith in God they won't lose their salvation. If they go back to the "old man" talked about in the bible, they weren't saved to begin with. I hope this makes sense, I'm no theologian or writer so forgive my grammar and run on sentences. God bless.

Carl Sagan gave a good example of why standards of evidence shift based on the type of claim being made. I'll loosely base my example on it.
Scenario 1) A friend of yours whom you have a long history with, whom you trust based on their past actions (they've built a reputation) - they claim to you that they were just on the freeway and the traffic is terrible. Most people choose to accept this claim is true without further investigation or verification. Why? Because that person is trustworthy, if the claim is wrong you don't stand to lose much, you can't see any motivation for them to lie, and the claim doesn't violate your model of the world (it doesn't require you to accept that laws of physics have been broken or something bizarre - it's easy to accept because you know traffic can exist).
Scenario 2) The SAME EXACT trustworthy friend claims there is a fire-breathing and flying dragon in their garage. This violates your understanding of reality. Therefore his testimony doesn't carry the same weight as it did before. Most people need more evidence for this type of claim.
Religion is the same way. They ask for you to believe things that violate your model of reality and are not based on anything other than "some people get a feeling" or "an ancient book says so." The standard of evidence goes up for claims about virgin births, talking snakes, resurrections, and immortality because there is no evidence that any of that is possible.
Take for example the story of Sampson and Delilah. The characters in the story do not at all behave in a way we'd expect normal people to behave. After the 2nd or 3rd time Sampson lies about where his strength comes from, and the 2nd or 3rd time his enemies come attempt that thing he said to Delilah in private, you'd think Sampson would be a moron to keep telling Delilah stuff and Delilah would be a moron to keep believing Sampson... And yet that is what the story tells us is what happened. In addition to that bizarre behavior, we are to believe that a man gets magical super human strength because of his long hair. Sounds like a myth to me.
Many Christians and atheists argue over whether or not the gospels were eye-witness and contemporary accounts, but it's totally irrelevant. We have contemporary eye-witness accounts for alien abductions! Does that mean they are true?!? Well, we certainly shouldn't believe it until there is better evidence than just "Gary said he saw aliens..." or "Mark said Jesus was born of a virgin... even though I'm not sure how he could be sure of that..."

    1) He asks what evidence would make someone believe the stories in the bible are true. There IS NO SUPPORTING evidence, just a little bit would be nice.
    2) What do I believe instead and why? That is superimposing the necessity to believe in something a god maybe? I am happy to reject god myths without having to state a belief (faith) in something else. Strawman argumentation!!!!
    3) You might think that slapping someone is OK if you don't believe in god but that is not the case, there are plenty of countries that are essentially atheistic that are good places to live. We humans have empathy and know right from wrong. The bible is not a good place to look to get a right/wrong decision.
    4) You do not need dogma in order to make ethical decisions. The Christian community is split over whether sexual equality is ethical or how to treat homosexuals, the Christian community does not use the bible for ethics.
    5) Do unto others as they would have done to you was stolen from Confucius, it pre-dates Jesus and has total relevance. That is why using that I can say that I completely disagree with slavery, a christian relying on their dogma CANNOT stand against another Christian quoting scripture who want to keep slaves.
    6) So Cliffe, why are all people born in to varying religions convinced theirs is the true religion? If any religions answers your question on purpose is it true?
    7) Answer the question Cliffe, how do you know which variation of Christianity is correct? Who are you to say that those people in Texas making money are not doing so with God's blessing?
    8) You deplore The crusades, The inquisition, The Salem witch trials, Gay Bashing,The WestBoro church.... THEY ALL HAVE SCRIPTURE ON THEIR SIDE.
    9) I challenge you to read the sermon on the mount for yourself people. Jesus says he is not here to change the law but fulfil it but then changes lots of laws including a very divisive law on divorce, which most countries agree is wrong.
cliffe does not give answers, he debates, not the same thing but he is good at it!!

      1) There is historical and archeological evidence if you want it. 2) You do believe things everyone does, but do you have a reason to logically believe what you do. 3) God gives us a conscience. 4) Yes and no Christians get things wrong, but the correct understanding of God leads us to truth. 5) Yes he can. WE are called to rightly divide scripture. Taking things in context one can provide clear biblical support against slavery (if the slavery you are talking about is the one practiced by the early American colonies). 6) I don't understand 7) He reads the bible. 8)No they don't. I don't think you are Stalin and would kill millions like him because you are both athiests. 9) Read the whole new testament and you would understand. The bible is a whole book treat it like any other book. I can't say I understand Moby Dick if I only read a chapter. Same with the bible.

Don't be so stupid. God killed nearly every human on earth on a whim, is attempted genocide good then?
He ordered Joshua to kill an entire nation, is actual genocide good then?
He set up the rules for slavery, is slavery good then?
He instigated gender discrimination, is that good then?
Don't be ridiculous, you no more get your knowledge of right and wrong from the god than you get water from a stone.
      "its basicly opinion."
to an extent it is, but us evolved homo sapiens have a society where we have known about concepts like the golden rule going back before Jesus was even a figment in an imagination. THAT is the source of our morality.
Slavery, rape, murder, genocide, homophobia, ALL 100% on the menu for someone claiming to get their morality from the collection of stories put together to make up the bible.

God gave us a mind to know Him so using it to correctly understand Him is very important. We need to rightly divide the word.
