I have some memories of this ship, as my parents, 5-year-old brother, and I sailed on her from NYC to South Hampton when I was six years old, on our way back to South Africa. It was the third time I had crossed the Atlantic by sea. My first crossing was at six months old on a Portuguese ship. I got to make my sixth crossing by sea with my husband on a South African freighter (for the fun of it). They are all gone now, so the song grabbed my heart. I didn’t know the information about the song. Thanks for sharing it. I feel so blessed to have had those leisurely experiences (and one scary part!) as well as numerous crossings by air.
A beautiful ship deserves a beautiful song. And this song fits it like a glove. This song is just as haunting yet beautiful as her majesty, RMS Queen Mary.
