Quality in depth video Jake gloves are always a big talking point and you’re right every individual is different 🙏 I have been using those new mystic marshal gloves now for the last few months and now like them better than my favourite mystic merino 1.5mm gloves which I have 3 pairs 👏
Most of the gloves I have had broke very easily, having holes from the lines, and the palms get worn down so water enter through the palm, have you have any of these problems with these gloves? does the palm get worn down so its thin and lets water in?
Yeah the abrasion from the centre line will eventually mess any glove out there, the Supremes got extra reinforcements so that helps with wear and tear but after some abuse even that will let go eventually. I just use neoprene glue from time to time and that solves it for another 10 sessions or so. The only alternative would be to wear medieval plated gloves but that might make swimming a bit tricky 😂
Hi, have you tried Ion neo claw? I have rip curl gloves, but IMO they're made for surfing. Forearms and fingers cramped after 30mins I had to make breaks today and at last session go without gloves :)
Rip Curl gear is aimed at surfers - and does what it says on the tin for sure. ION Claws are good but they don't last long. As for the Supreme pre-curved ones - never had an issue with cramps or arm pumps - neither with the Lobsters. Plus they last forever. Check out Skymonster.com for free shipping (both Ion and Mystic stuff dude!).
When I would wear them over a dry suite, it seams like water can come in more easily than when waering under a wetsuite, right? And they dont have extra straps right?
Mate, so sorry just seen this. Yeah over the drysuit as otherwise the cuff seams wouldn’t work. With how the wetsuits progressed though, a decent 6/5 like the Mystic Voltt or ION Seek Amp hooded do the trick for me better than drysuits
Thanks for the video! I noticed the 3 fingers one aren't pre curved. Is that a problem when you're riding? I live in Canada and it's that time of the year again where I'll spend most of my time in sub zero temperature and am looking for new gloves that would keep me warm AND are comfortable. Thanks.
Hey bud! They are actually a bit precurved - never had an arm pump in these and my circulation in general is pretty messed up (not to mention a broken wrist that also impacts my forearms). I still use mittens for surfing when it gets really cold but for kiting these Supreme Lobsters are the best thing I’ve found... so far.
@@kinouillek No probs dude :) I'd offer to send you a pair from our store but with shipping to Canada you'll be better off getting them locally :) All the best bud!
@@JakeOski I know that would have been perfect as it's out of stock almost everywhere in Canada (still looking). I'll find it at some point, gotta keep on looking haha. Thanks again for your inputs.
Thanks for the review! The lobsters not being precurved is not an issue regarding arm pumps? I would have thought holding the bar is more stressfull for the hands/forearms with them than it is with the precurved 5-finger-ones. Is that actually not the case?
They are quite loose inside so haven't had an arm pump, despite them being 5mm too and with that close-fitting cuff-seal. The mittens were quite decent too but having your index finger free to do do stuff (and to feed the centre lines between the index finger and three others) is a massive plus. The build quality is very decent too - I'm pretty bad at taking care of my kit and they're holding up very well - so far I'm pretty impressed. I guess the arm pump also depends on how are you gripping the bar - if you're doing this correctly that helps too :)
Yes they do(cause intense forearm pain) I can only use them for short periods as Jake said super warm but for me i was really only able to hold the bar for any length of time with the claw gloves, but again they don't keep the digits from freezing so both kinda fail in the low temps for different reasons, ...gonna try the open palm ones next,...i like the warmth of the mitt but the idea of being able to pop your fingers out when required.
Great review, thanks, and I feel you! My regular Mystic gloves aren't warm enough to keep me on the water longer than 45 mins. Almost decided to cut my hands off after being on the water for 50 mins last time. So I'm thinking of switching gloves (I have even been thinking about wearing open palm mittens over the gloves). Have you tried the NP ARMOR SKIN 3-FINGER MITT 5MM? Looking at these and the Mystics Lobster... Looking forward to your reaction
Hey, yeah I've had them too in the past and they were fairly toasty but I've found that the extra lining inside of the Mystic Lobsters makes a bit of a difference, they are a bit warmer than the NP ones bud.
Nice review, thanks for sharing! Any difference between the lobster and 5-finger versions in terms of cramping forearms? We've hit 0°C here at lake geneva, so I need a good solution for my hands to keep windsurfing!
I couldn't really feel a difference in that regard bud - haven't had any cramps in neither and I've used them for kiting / winging / SUP'ing and surfing (I just pick the dry pair so I circulate between the two). Lobsters (www.skymonster.com/products/mystic-supreme-lobster-5mm-gloves) are my choice for when it gets really cold though.
Mate, I'm the same as your wife 😂 There's a limit for me how long I'm enjoying colder days and then it's proper gloves time. Hate being cold and as much as I rarely ever feel freezing in a wetsuit it's always my hands that were getting the kicking. Out of everything I've tried so far the Mystic Lobsters were definitely the warmest I've had on in a while. There are some other brands out there for sure but it's awesome to find a pair that keeps you going on the days when you really don't want to leave your van :)

Use a rubberglove under your wet suit gloves. And get some comfy 2mm wetgloves
