If the river erodes the entire drainage channel, sending the material into the Gulf of California and the Pacific Ocean, the relatively tiny bit of sedimentation from the ridge will go sown stream too. No mystery here at all.
So, if I understand, the 'missing' material was washed away during a period when it was sediment and not rock? Do I understand you clearly? And...it's a mystery to me because I was just a guy with his dog looking up saying..."huh, what the heck caused that".
