I was walking past my friend listening to a college presentation about environmental science, and they were playing 1:40 in the background of the presentation. I was shocked. I started playing this while they were listening and we had a good laugh about it. Love these games 😂
I played this all the time as a kid, and I have fond memories of watching my dad play with his high level characters and amazing equipment. Meanwhile, when I was first starting out, I would make about fifty characters and hardly use any of them.
I just found a Royalty free song from another video that used it from Bensound which is slower and beatier, is it stolen or did Turlough use it? Cant find a date or anything. www.bensound.com/royalty-free-music/track/sci-fi
@@DEFCON1GAMRS I think there's been some confusion here. Turlough O'Carolan lived a few hundred years ago. He was a blind Irish harpist and he composed the music that the Fate dev used for the title theme. Since the tune is so old, he could use it for free. All of the music is probably music that the dev got for cheap or for free because this project was definitely an indie game, it's just before indie was common enough to be its own category. That said, credit to the Mr. Baldree's tastes. ( The dev of fate is Travis Baldree. ) Here's some helpful wiki links: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turlough_O%27Carolan en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Runic_Games
i remember playing this game when i was like 6 or 7 at 2am on schoolnights with my shitty laptop 1:25 always made me look over my shoulder in the middle of a dungeon run.
Yeah. When I was young I used to on my great grandmother's Windows XP computer. Some of the most fun I've had in my life. And everytime this song plays, all the memories come back.
This scared me as a kid NO DOUBT 😂 but this ambiance is amazing and shows how strong this games immersion could be! I've had some very very close calls in these dungeons and this song made it feel even more real! Awesome game! Love the music! 3:03 gives me huge hunter x hunter 1999 vibes lol! Love it!
Old comment, but for those who never did catch on to this: Mimics are easily identifiable from a distance if you hold your mouse over them and see a sheen of white covering the whole chest. Regular Large Chests don't do that. You won't always be able to catch them unawares, but this is a valid tactic to identify them. Also, you get close, they start doing basic attacks, which is all they do.
@@stetsonherrick8090 I remember noticing that detail moments after getting jump scared by one simple because I was so close to it and thought it was a normal chest
Those little sounds throughout always sound like mice or birds. Then there's that wail, and I always thought it sounded as if my cat was suffering somehow XD It's actually pretty obnoxious after a while. That part at 1:41 always merges with your steps if you happen to be running. 3:48 was the part I always hated, because as pretty as it sounds, my computer's speakers always made it too shrill, and I would stop and cover my ears until it stopped because it was just too painful. Drove my mom nuts too XD
My brother and I loved to go into the file settings and mess with the damage of certain weapons and made our armor OP. We managed to make a darkwood staff one hit everything without spells and we messed with the selling prices of items to get unlimited gold so we could level up our notoriety and get a ton of skill points lol.
Also I want to mention how the dungeons are unlimited, you could type in a code ::descend 10000000000000 and it would take you to that level, its crazy!
I always thought that the flute part ( 3:47 ) was a lone prisoner who was trying to hum a tune before getting caught by a guard ( 4:23 ), and getting punished or killed for it…
There are four games in the Fate series, yet I only know of Fate 1 and Fate - the cursed king. If you know the names of Fate 2 and 3, I would appreciate it.
Just found that in another youtube video, couldnt figure out if Turlough borrowed it from Bensound or Bensound stole it from Turlough, couldnt find a date for it
The creeping intro same a lot of whales from deepths. Maybe from this clip was inspired the moviemaker from "The suite life" when make "crying for feeling empaty" scana
I recognize the bird but I can't remember the name, I think maybe *not sure* it could be a pelican. The pelican sounds pretty close it or at least the bird call I heard did anyway.
This track *always* scared me as a child, particularly that sound. So much so I couldn't go farther down than the first level! XD I always thought it was a dead cat meowing from death, and since I mostly chose the cat pet...
*Dies* "Choose your fate." I always chose to give up exp and fame to resurrect at the same spot that I died. Then I'd run around and end up getting every monster on the level chasing me at once... I wasn't good at this game... I loved it then and still love it today since I bought it on steam like 2 years ago.

_i remember the Good Ol' Days playing this..._
I still play this.
its on steam.
Still play it too😌
3:49 This part started playing right after I defeated the end boss and it was the most satisfying thing ever.
Nice job on defeating the end boss
@HyperFragon 25 a sign of what you fool 🤣
Actually though. The creepiest dungeon theme is definitely this one. It's really eerie.
It's the most iconic too.
I love how creepy/eerie it is. Easily the best song in the soundtrack imo
"Choose your Fate."
"The choice is made..."
Choosing Quit "GAME OVER"
A few month ago I stayed up for three days and heard this theme for an hour in my head starting at around 1:41
The screams of tortured and trapped souls echoing in the background
"you cannot carry anymore"
So true.
No more of a "FUUUUUUUUU" moment in Wild Tangent
CPL cranluM "insufficient funds"
Scyther Gamer "Your health is low".
"your mana is low"
0:00 makes me jump every time I enter the dungeon...
Nathan Henke Same. I was always worried every time I entered that it would play haha
I would always go back up/down the staircase then come back to the level just to change the music. This song would scare me so much
The sound that happens when you wake up from a nightmare lol
Feels like you are running from the Aztecs.
*My dog and I turn a corner, and are confronted by a statue of fate at level 1*
Oh, what's this? Cool! Gems! *Attempts to pry*
*The ground rumbles and belches out 10 level 6 zombies*
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
*Behold, my first day on fate.*
hahahhaha i had similar run ins except it was a lvl 45 boss liche
Oh Jeez! Makes mine seem Weak. Derp.
+Ratchet Surefire dont worry youll hate yourself once you hit the boss lvl
Zombies are easy to kite tho... unless you got surrounded, then yeah you'd be fucked.

3:48 when the flute comes on it gets so spine-chilling
Do you know the name of that flute track?

Sometimes you just have to wait for fate to make its move.

Im revisiting this game from when i was younger and its so addicting.
Sure is.
If I'm not mistaken, this song is the background music in the most up to date trailer for the movie Unfriended.
yup it is ::) (hopefully)
+Marshall Adams
This song is like cry of Zack and Cody from "The suite life movie"
I found the original song that this song sampled
It's called King by Darkskull in an album called the third rail.
Kanye East Nice try, but the album Third Rail came out in 2014, while FATE was around 2005.
is this song original from the game or copy?
This music is awesome! Turlough O'Carolan knows how to make dungeon ambiance!

I know, right?
Just playing Fate in the middle of the night with the lights off...
And then 0:00 makes you damn near leap out of your chair.
Walking around the dungeon looking for rare items that my character can't hold then activating a portal to sell them, good times
1:40 sounds like it could be a credits theme for a 2000s serialized show
I've been trying to find this FOREVER! My favorite track!!!

O'Carolan composed the town themes, not the dungeon themes. Also he was a 17th century Irish harp composer.
So he time travelled?
Y'all ever hate finding a chest to find out it was those evil monster chests 😥
