Hi Phil, my wife was going to purchase virtually the same car with black alloys in the summer from a main dealer. It was taken in part exchange, she test drove the car & was about to sign all the paperwork to buy but the dealer couldn’t then find the service history in the document pack. They tried to find any history but were unable to. He informed us that he could not sell the car to us, as all cars from the main dealer had to be sold with some form of history? We asked what would happen to the car, he said that it would go to auction. Hope your feel better sown & looking forward to more on the blue Audi & ST.
@@SeriousAboutSalvage looks sizeable and may point to a new rim, it’s not just a scuff sadly. Club 500 Italia who are on eBay are a good source of fiat bits and I think they are in Bury too 👍🏼
Lovely car Phil - I saw the chunk out of the nsf rim and tyre too - defo run over something - I‘d get all wheels checked for buckles too, and get that rear sus beam sanded, primed and painted ! Keep ’em comin‘ JCHK
Sumps on these all rust like mad. They're a cracking little car IMO - had one here, it went out a couple of weeks ago after getting a smack in the side, needed some pulling to the sills, quarter, a door, new wing, mirror, airbags, blah blah - but sorted just fine & gone as they're very popular. I like 'em.
A couple of ideas on why it's in the salvage auction. Firstly I wouldn't have thought a dealer would use a salvage auction due to a prior cat N, ordinary auction would be the more obvious choice but can you not tell the category of the seller, from the auction listing? eg ins company, I seem to remember one of the repairer you-tubers saying you could. However, if it is an insurance company, could it be a low level salt water flood? Hence the sump and a fairly rusty exhaust rusted due to salt and subsequent heat? Perhaps check underneath the carpets. Also perhaps a normal ins repaired bump and the repair rejected for some reason? Just a couple of thoughts. Cheers.
Hi Mick, the auction i bought it from only sell direct from insurers, and if it was water damage they have to disclose it in the auction listing. Quite common for these to have rusty sumps. Repair rejected could be a possibility, in my opinion though it looks a good job!
Cracking little motor in the right trim and colour Phil. Car Veryical is £12 well spent on ant motor for peace mind. Should be a quick sell this one 👍😎

Gurgling rushing water sound….….water in the heater matrix I think and or head gasket issues. @Love 500 (who’s commented below) had ongoing issues with one of his….Loopy Harold which ultimately turned out to be head gasket…..amongst may o6er things. The sump is a mess, l reckon it’s been changed before and a cheapo crap one been used…perhaps you could have sprayed over it with some protective paint on the new one to help keep that sound As the sump was such a mess, I’d question why the rest of the underside looks so neat….Cv boots etc looked clean? New You don’t show the engine bay from above, properly….had the thermostat housing been changed? Nice video and hope your feeling better, keep up the good work… Last thing ….if this was bought from Copart - which I don’t think it is from how you explained it, then the lot number would have a letter after the name, was it a C?
That sump was in a shocking state but common on 500's I gather - no undertray won't help! Nice car but a bit of a puzzle about its background - pity you didn't show the Car Vertical check?

Seen a car with very very light damage totally destroyed by copart with was a 40k audi and was lifted by a forklift truck which damaged the underside and the owner refused to have it back because of the damage by copart

My cold/flu/covid lasted 4 weeks phil with green phelgm, breathing problems and you still get phlegm coming up 2 weeks after that. Only just fully recovered. Worse i have had in 52 years.

The water sound, isn't it just the plugs at the back of the engine engine on the chassis that needs pulling out and cleaning? They collect moss, mud etc and then rain water gets there. Remove them and then it frees up the sound of water aswell.
Car Vertical good call but where is it, thought you said would be in video?. While you were looking at underside the Front O/S (drivers) Wheel AND Tyre appears to have damage on the inner side?
Common nowadays on many cars , including vw , vauxhall fiat , citroen , Peugeot, manufacturers have the engines so low the sump is hit by all the rain water and salt when being driven , and copy aftermarket dumps are so thin they dont last much more than 2/3 years untreated
Main dealer part ex, am sure they reflected the Cat N in price they gave to the person trading in,,expect its got little history service wise with jobs you did by time dealer did those jobs then have to give a warranty they be better losing a grand as would get back off the new car. maybe why went straight to auction, not sure about flood but every ford KA or 500 ever had always have rusty sumps, rusty rear beams and the exhaust must be made of bean tins as they always falling apart, but maybe its flooded cat N and repaired, what happened to the car Vert you was going to do, please do it and show any historic damage also run the numbers please be interested to see what gave for it at auction. all best mate,, get some vitamin C in you always ill,,,

Big chunk out of the tyre and alloy on the inner edge of the drivers side wheel. Noticed when you were under the car.

Is the clutch ok as there seems to be staining on the nearside bottom chassis leg extension directly under the clutch cylinder pipe joint.
Check off side front wheel and strut Phil, it’s had a clout

That’s the sloshing noise when you drive, the rushing water noise is as Phil says air in the heater matrix.
Fiat = "Fix It Again Tony" (or) "Fix It Again Tomorrow".

With a sump + exhaust that rusty I'd say flood damage. Sure you've not got Covid Phil, there's a lot of it about, kids giving it to their parents.
Common fault Paul on the fiat 500 is sumps rusting and back axles they need under-sealing once bought.
Common issue with these, made worse by Northern England weather.
Get a car vertical done on it Phil.
