Bob, like it or not, you are an influencer. I bought a Squier 40th Anniversary Jazz bass because of your excellent review. I bought a Squier 40th Anniversary Precision bass due to your favorable review. I bought an Acoustic B20 practice amp because your tone through it sounds good. I want to buy a MM Stingray like you have, but can't afford it. But I want one because of you. Like I said, influencer 😉 Exceptional playing and another informative video. Appreciated Bob ✌️
@@bruceandsharonherendeen6609I have zero regrets about buying them both. They really are probably the best bass guitars Squier has ever produced. I changed out the strings right away. Flatwound on the P. D'Addario Chrome on the J. I always use Big Bends Nut Sauce on the string contact points. Also, after a week of playing, your squeaky strings could mellow. Try this old timer's trick; rub your fingers on your nose to pick up a little oil. It actually will help. Also, GHS Fast Fret could help, and it's cheap, around $8 and will pay for itself quickly by greatly increasing string life. I'm hoping Bob can chime in with his thoughts. Cheers!
Hey Bob, just came across this vid. I bought the same Player Plus in faded candy apple red. I absolutely love it. I have gigged it a few of times and get compliments on how good it sounds. I'm 69 years young, started playing when I was 14 in 1968. Thanks for the look see and good playing. Cheers from Utah
Just got one in , and I agree with you , this is really heavy and it’s heading back , I’ve been playing since 1959 and it’s just way to heavy I’m used to P basses in 8 to 8.5 lbs 10 lbs is a shoulder killer , you wouldn’t think that 2 pounds would make that much difference but even with my very custom strap this would be tuff on the body for 4 hrs .
I'm glad you always include how much a bass weights in your reviews I don't understand why others don't since being comfortable is a very important attribute when considering a bass
@@BobBlackBass Benedetto Guitars has a TH-cam channel. The more recent videos featuring Maggie Evans show her playing a Marleaux Consat bass through a Genzler Magellan and an Aguilar cabinet. Sounds good even through TH-cam.
Hey 67 New England, I loved the jazz bass but it was over 9 pounds and I had problems with the pickups. I'm looking to get another jazz bass. Possibly a Sandberg super light. The Stingray is also great and I can dial in a sound that fits most any situation.
What would you say about that bass vs. hotroddding a regular player with a set of those noiseless pickups? Like as a budget move. If you aren’t after an active bass
I would definitely put a couple of noiseless pups in the player but I couldn't compare the two because they are two completely different animals. One is not better than the other. Just different.

Hey Ken, thanks so much! It's comments like yours that keep me going!
Ken how do you like your jazz bass? I just bought one and the strings sqeak more than you other basses

Rock on!

Hey Johnny, I agree 100%! Manufacturers need to get these weights down. They did it with amps and speakers.

Thanks Marc, I totally agree!
Love the sound of this particular model. Think I'm going to have to pull the trigger soon and get one. Very impressive great sound!
The sound was good. Not so sure about the feel and like I said I thought that it felt cheap. Just my opinion. Many people love it.
Nice to see you again.
Nice bass, for a J...nice review as always.
Diggin the shirt
Thanks for watching
Great sounding bass
Yeah but too heavy for me!
Another fantastic review and killer tone!
Thanks!
Thanks!
Coincidentally, I found the Squier active jazz bass to be very heavy as well. They must have gotten a deal on some 2 lb pre-amps! 😊
Could be!
Always enjoy your comment on weight....one of my complaints; sold a Gibson EB1 (violin shape), way too heavy
Thanks, Gary! I hate when you see a bass on TH-cam or in a magazine and you're dying to get it only to find out that it's a boat anchor in disguise!
Sounds great Bob! The only thing I dont like is the dot neck (Im one of those weirdos that likes dots on a P and blocks on a J lol)
Haha. I like dots on everything!
Hey bob do you think this bass would fit in the mix of my high school jazz band?
Absolutely!
Hi. Have you played through an Aguilar Tonehammer or a Genzler Magellan? Thoughts.
Hey newgunguy, I haven't had the opportunity as of yet. Both are great names and I would be confident with either.

- Bob , I’m just curious why you decided to move away from your jazz deluxe and on to the Stingray? Thanks for the review.

@@BobBlackBass Ah i see. thanks for your input appreciate it:)
Try a sire jazz way lighter and just as good just doesn’t have the name fender on it half the price and you can get roasted maple
I like Sire if you can get one that's not too heavy. I bought a V7 and it was 10 pounds
