    Welcome back to anther Books Vlog! 📖 I wanted to add honourable mentions for Carrie Soto Is Back by TJR (perfect if you loved Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo) and It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover - LOVED both of those this year too but have lent them to other people so totally forgot to include them! I’ve also started The Spanish Love Deception on the new Kindle and so far, I’ve noticed I’m reading much quicker! Anyone else find that? I’m excited to see how I go with it. Let me know your recommendations below! Love chatting books with you all. B xx

    Don’t forget libraries! One of my fave things to do is mooch around my local library and picking out a few books - it’s like book shopping but free! You can also reserve books you particularly want for a small fee and it’s so exciting when it comes in 😊

      This is a great tip. I also recently found out that the author gets a small royalty when their book is borrowed from a library 😀 (I didn’t realise this before and will definitely try and go more now!)

    I LOVE the idea of a book date! Reading in the garden is my favourite but I never thought about reading outside of the house intentionally rather than taking a book to keep my occupied when I know I will be waiting around!
    It's been great to follow your reading journey and has inspired me to be more pro-active with my own 😊

    I love my kindle and love using kindle unlimited. Download more than you think you’ll want…sometimes it gets “moody” trying to connect to other wifi systems. It’s great for the plane because you don’t need that pesky reading light turned on. And for late night reading in bed.

    I love my kindle!I’ve had mine for over a year now and I’ve read 100+ books on it, the £9.99 a month fee is so worth it when you look into how many books you can actually get on there for ‘free’ compared to how much money you’d spend on buying all of the books from a store. If you enjoy Lauren Asher’s writing I highly recommend her other series the dirty air series-it’s about a group of F1 drivers and there all available on kindle unlimited!

    Hey Brogan! Just finished a book series and since I am convinced if we lived closer we would be BFF’s I think you would love it. It’s called The Simple Wild. It’s fun, a little romance, moving. Just a great read. If your looking for a distraction. So sorry for what your going through.

    Loved this video, I’m a big fan of my kindle and really love kindle unlimited as you can read so many books for such a small cost. I recommend the Dirty Air series by Lauren Asher (same author as the Dreamland Billionaires), and the authors Juliana Smith and Meghan Quinn who have lots of books of kindle unlimited. Also it’s worth keeping an eye on the 99p book deals as I’ve bought loads of really popular books in these sales!

    I really like the idea of telling myself to just read one chapter. I really struggle with reading books, even though I love buying them, I always find myself wanting to be on my phone more. I'm a slow reader and I get frustrated with myself because I feel a bit silly with how slow I read, but I always feel good after reading so I'm going to give the one-chapter thing a go! x

    • @brogantatexo
      @brogantatexo  ปีที่แล้ว

      YES! It's not a race, one chapter a night is still 7 chapters but the end of the week, and you'll be surprised with the kind of progress that can add up quickly and move you along the story easier. It's SO hard to pull ourselves away from our phones, but it really is wonderful to be lost in a story, so I hope you find your groove and happy reading! xx

    I used to love getting lost in a library and finding a new good book to read. Great tips for reading, like using a book mark so you don't lose your place. Plus the headphones are a great idea too. It's hard to find a quiet place to read sometimes.

    I used to love reading, then damaged my back and couldn't concentrate. So stopped for a few years. I decided this year to start trying to get back doing the things I love. So I found an accessible pool and started swimming again. Then I began reading again . I make sure I'm early for everything. Even if it's only 15, 20 mins, and I sit and read in the car and when I finish a book I put £5 in a pot . I'm on book no 32 this year. I'm loving it! Amanda x

    I used to read a lot and I have a dinosaur kindle too…
    When I was reading I loved getting bookmarks…
    I still collect bookmarks and have literally 100’s from everywhere. Not so easy this day n age to find but my go to souvenirs are fridge magnets and bookmarks..
    I love the book date thing….such a simple brilliant idea. I live on an island on the south coast…I have a special place I like to go ..it’ll be great for a book date whilst hubby walks…
    I might even dig a book out today …..

    I love your book videos 😊
    I’ve just finished Elsie Silver’s Chestnut Springs books, I can totally recommend. The first book took a bit of getting into but then I was hooked, like the Dreamland series it follows a brother for each book.
    The first is called Flawless but book 2 Heartless is brilliant (you could start on that one).
    You get invested in the family story too which makes you want to read the next.
    Abby Jimenez too ❤ Part of Your World is a beautiful book. I’m currently reading book 2 Yours Truly and 2 chapters in and I’m hooked already, her writing style would be right up your street.
    I love my kindle, I have RSI so much easier for me to hold than a physical book. I have a Pop Socket on mine which makes it much easier to hold too xx

    Love your vids! I highly recommend Lessons in Chemistry . My fav read of this year so far. Shows the struggles of women in the 1950s and 60s and how they were expected to stay at home and raise children rather than pursue careers. A story of feminism, determination, independence and equality! A bit of a tear jerker ( but one of the best characters is a dog 🐶) x

Or the book cover comes on in sleep mode I set my reading challenge at 60 because I turned 60 last week 🎉 so I thought I would do that … I am up to 37 books read . But I haven’t put any pressure on myself to get there but I was in a bit of a slump but I find my kindle gets me out of my reading slump …. 📚💞📚

    Growing up I never took a true interest in reading. As I got to about 18 years of age I would read a book here and there but still no big interest as such. About 7 months ago I borrowed a book from my local library called The curious incident of the dog in the night time. I loved it and finished it in a day. Ever since then I have been reading more and loving it. I have the good reads app and have read 32 books. I have lots of books on my TBR list. I like a lot of Colleen Hoover’s books. My current read is a book called The Winners by Fredrick Backman. It is the last book in the series. I read the other two books a while back and loved them. It’s quite a big book at 670 pages long but I love it so far. I haven’t been to the library in a while as I have so many books to read that I have bought or people have given me. I don’t even know where the sudden spark for reading came from but I’m not complaining😂😂 I even want a built in bookcase in my own house in the future😅

    I bought just the basic (newest) kindle last month and have already read 5 books (the first Bridgerton books which are very good). Before that I think I read one book this year.
    HIGHLY love having this as I can lay down and read it fully in my face and not worry it’s gonna suddenly drop just cause it’s SO light.
    Also, I recommend getting a little elastic hand grip of some kind - meant I can keep my hand fully flat on the back and not get cramp in my fingers.
    Ooo also the kindle IOS app has a ruler feature included so HOPEFULLY they will bring that feature to their physical kindles soon

    As you say, how you read is such a personal thing. It’s something I struggled with when my (now) husband and I moved in together. When I lived alone I’d read in silence but my husband doesn’t do silence! He’s either always talking or has the tv on for background noise so I had to relearn how to read in a noisier environment. Now I can, but it took a while. Now I can block out everything to the point I have no idea if he’s talking to me!

    I got a kindle paperwhite a few years ago and it took me almost a whole book to get used to reading on it. I now love reading on my kindle. I live in an apartment so space for physical books are limited. Also books on kindle are alot cheaper compared to physical books. Most libraries also offer ebook check out. I did have to pay the extra money to get rid of the ads after a few months because I found that they were draining my battery and causing my kindle to slow down. Have fun with your new kindle

    I love my kindle for travel and trying out books I'm not sure on ( I tend to only buy them when they're 99p, I check my list everyday in case one has gone down). I tend to buy physical books if I think I'm going to re read them and kindle if I think I'll only read them once. That saves me from hoarding hundreds of extra books 😂 I can’t work right now because of my disability so I spend my mornings reading to avoid being on TH-cam or netflix all day. It means I get through A LOT of books, they're mostly 9-12 or ya because they're much more fun and interesting to me so I normally finish one each morning and I can't store that many paperbacks (or afford them 😂)

    • @brogantatexo
      @brogantatexo  ปีที่แล้ว

    If you have Prime there's a rotation of included titles for free. I'm definitely a fan of physical books. But I got a tablet to access my local library service, so as I found that OK, also got a Kindle to get my hands on their free or cheap books. It is handy, tbh.
    If you get in a slump, try non fiction, there's so much out there that's fantastic - biography, history, travel, whatever floats your boat.

    I got my first kindle when they first came out and really struggled to switch to it after physical books. I've had a couple over the years and started reading more last year, and getting the Amazon First Reads. Ended up buying the Signature a few months ago after my Kindle Fire lost the ability to hold charge, and now I struggle to read physical books! I also like getting the audio version as well - when I have a stash of credits and being able to read the same book when driving and then at home.

      Yay! I listened to the Audiobook! My review was: This is the first audiobook I’ve ever finished, so it’s fair to say I enjoyed listening to Prince Harry’s voice during car journeys and dog walks! There were moments I felt it dragged (it’s quite heavy on his time in the Army but I understand the importance), but I mostly felt sympathy for the turbulence in his family, the uncontrollable narrative constantly painted about him in the Press, and the grief for his Mother. There are insights, stories and relationships that give you a better understanding of who he is, and listening to his story in his words fascinated me. Overall, I didn’t love or hate it and wouldn’t recommend rushing to read.

    • @d.t.g4344
      @d.t.g4344 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thx for your feedback. I would agree it is quite heavy on the military part. For me, it’s giving me a better insight on his life from his point of view. I do find myself feeling sad for him and ALL of the trauma he’s endured and currently enduring from time-to-time.
      We do share a commonplace with loving the feel and smell of physical books vs. kindle/iPads.
      Onward and upward on both of our book journeys!!❤

    I need a new e-reader also. Currently I’m using my daughters old Amazon tablet so it’s just about holding it together but bless it needs to retire lol. I would love a kindle for the lightness of it however I use my local library’s app so I think I’ll get another fire tablet. I was always a physical book only girl but I do love a digital book now and I also seem to read faster with a digital book. My recommendations are the What Happens In…… series by Kristina Adams, 90’s Flashback series and Coco Bay series both by Kirsty McManus and I’ve just read book 1 of a series by Karen McManus called One of Us is Lying which is a YA thriller. I’m waiting for book 2 to arrive, book 3 has just been published in hardback. I don’t usually like book series and prefer a stand alone book but all of these books I rated 5 star which I haven’t given to any stand alone I’ve read recently
