I recently failed an exam at my medical school (last friday). Thank you for your honesty. I am African American and sometimes I feel that the embarrassment is that must more because of the questioning I know others have on my merit to be in med school. I did not get a ROI on the sweat equity I put in, which hurts and angers me. I am considering leaving. I don't want my emotions and life dictated so much by this external source. I don't like the egos, micro-aggressions, and pain of isolation. It is a lot. I am currently on Spring Break and will take a brief retreat (to a local hotel/stay-cation) to consider a leave of absence.

OSCE's are the literal worst because they don't test your skill set. They put you in an unnecessarily stressful environment in the name of testing your skill set

How the hell can they not show you these examinations before they ask you to do it in an exam! That's disgusting. That's terrible teaching. You clearly knew every step. You just said it all effortlessly. I'm sorry this happened to you.

Sounds to me like there were too many unknowns and unclear things especially before an 18 min exam. If you were more familiar with the test then you would've been better prepared and had a better result. No reason to feel dumb or embarassed imo.

It is their job, and not yours; to teach students the proper procedures. I'm sorry but I'm also happy for you. It seems as though you are on to great things regardless now. You have also probably impacted many people's decisions/life. Thank you.
