    I drove past that scene (7:03) at the charging station and thought "who the heck parks like that?", then I saw the bike and the beanie and decided all was good.

    Also, I'd love to know what's wrong with that generator. Pity the Tesla doesn't have vehicle-to-load! The alternate approach I've seen is to get a 2KW inverter and hook it up to a couple of 12V batteries. Caravan shops have this kind of equipment all the time.

    Exciting. Generators are pretty much only good for the tire warmers. Looks like it'd be a fun course mostly straight as I notice the bike wasn't even leaning much. That is the biggest challenge I've found with electrics is they cheap out on the suspension so much and it's so hard to overcome the immense weight still.

    • @mt-10ofnz
      @mt-10ofnz 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    • @spike_spencer
      @spike_spencer 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

       @mt-10ofnz60 I see that, but even though you'd normally be turning through those corners there are a couple of areas where a bike on a closed road turns them into a high speed straight (e.g. 10:02-10:25) is what I'm talking about. Looked like about 18 major corners (I know officially there's more) in the video you posted of your run. We've got some pretty awesome climbs up the mountains around here that look similar (more like 60km long), but we usually put our bikes down to about 45º more like you do. I really wouldn't want to be on my Energica at much more than 30º though, so I think that's definitely what's holding it back the most.

    Charging on Gen: The EV charger checks for an Earth (PE) - Neutral (N) link. This is usually done in your switch board. That mean the Gen does not have that link. Solution is to make up a special cable where Neutral and Earth are connected (only to be used for this application) and Bob is your uncle.
    Solution 2: Get a Juice Booster Type 2 charger. Those come with a Norway mode, where no PE-N link is required.

    Not related to this video at all, but I have nowhere else to turn. My 2017 Zero SR is in need of new tires. The stock tires are Pirelli Diablo Rosso IIs.... 3" front (110/70-17), and 3.5" rear (140/70-17). As I use the bike 100% for commuting, and my local roads are crap... I'm wondering if going with larger tires front and rear would make sense? I'm looking at the Michelin "Road 6" tires, as they seem to be the "it" tires for sport touring (which I equate to good 'around town tires' vs. the stock 'track-ish' tires.). As for "nowhere else to turn", I reached out to Zeor directly and all the could say was "we can't comment on any other tire but the stock tire". Dissapointing. My local Zero dealer is zero help. So I thought I'd ask here, to see if NewZeroland had any thougts on wider tires for an SR, or if anyone could recommend a great 'city tire' for my new rubber. Thanks...!!!

    The Tesla charger didn't work because the generator has a floating ground. They make a little plug you can get from Amazon or wherever that you can plug into a different outlet on the generator and it will tie the ground and neutral together which will make the charger happy.

      That makes so much sense! I should have brought my other cable. Welp, next time.

    I just hope the rider is ok - though I do think that you wouldn't be so light-hearted about it if something really bad had happend.
    With all those long-winding corners, it looks like a track my Model S could more or less survive. Not with me driving, though. I'm a 43 year old man with only about 80 pct brain tissue left.
    About that Pirelli made in China thing: Pirelli has been a plaything of Chinese stock holders since 2015 (complicated story), so it's no surprise that (part of) the production takes place in China. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pirelli)
