This lesson is loaded with information. I plan to play this lesson over and over until I have all this information down pat. By far, your lessons are terrific. Thank you so much.
Cedar Creek Dulcimers I received the DVD today. Haven’t watched it yet. So I don’t know if it’s just part 1&2. Anyway, I hope you will be able to make more with 1-4 on it. Sure don’t mind paying for one.😊
I always tune to the traditional dulcimer tuning. Most people refer to it as D AA. However, that is just one of the many keys you can tune to when you use the traditional Ionian mode. For example, in this video, we learn that if we tune to the traditional tuning key of G (G DD), we are able to play all kinds of chords we could never play tuning to D! If you've not already found it yet, I do go over tuning in this video right before we start the first song. If you would like to learn more about the traditional Ionian tuning, I explain it a little more in Mountain Dulcimer Basics lesson #1. You can find all our videos on the Cedar Creek Dulcimers TH-cam page. Thanks for watching! Always remember, if you're having fun, you're doing it right! Troy

Looks like you swiped my Violin design?
When are you going to do Lesson 4, part 3?
Allen, sorry its been so long since I've had a chance to record anything new. Hopefully I'll get that lesson and others out shortly.
Thanks for these great lessons Troy. Will we have to retune to play in flat keys? As in Ab Bb and Eb
You can either retune or do the "cheater" versions of those cords.(especially if it's just needed for one or two songs for example)
For more info on that check out my video; "More on chords."

The piano may very well help some but it makes it hard to hear the dulcimer. Thanks for the lesson.
