I was gifted one for Christmas some years ago, and it has surprisingly turned into my favourite knife hands down (Peltonen M07 is getting up there too though). Yours looks slightly older than mine. The grind one my knife is ever so slightly convex which is amazing to use and maintain. I will say that one should be careful about putting a lot of torque on the tip. I bent it pretty bad on mine once, but I just bent it right back, and it's been completely fine since then. I was surprised that it didn't just break off. My friend picked up the UHC version this summer, and I would not be comfortable doing the same to that one. It does hold it's edge amazingly though.
I really don't trust harder steels. Much rather have something less brittle. I don't mind if I have to sharpen it more often. I actually enjoy sharpening my knifes. Awesome gift to receive. Thanks for watching mate.
@@KuukkeliBushcraft It's the only knife that I've written my name on, that I didn't make the handle and sheath for myself, because I'm sure I'll never sell it. And needless to say I own many excellent knives. I don't even know how many lol. It's perfect for what I need to use a knife for on a daily basis working in outdoor education with young children (making shavings for lighting the stove, teaching basic carving etc). Great for skinning as well. If I ever lose or misplace it I'll buy another instantly despite the arguably high price. Enjoy your weekend :)
I had some lovely sunny weather and some beautiful views when I filmed this. Also had Unni trying to be the centre of attention as usual 🤣. She is a good girl, very well behaved but a little needy.
Thank you very much Jeff. Glad you enjoyed it. It is so nice to film here when it is sunny. Those days will be over soon 😂. Thanks for stopping by buddy.
I have been more than happy with the Roselli blades that I have built handles and sheaths for. Could not find a better knife at just about any price. More beautiful, yes, but not much better. You get a lot of knife for the price, money well spent in my estimation. Great video of a well above average product. Would love to see the German woman, that you took birding in the spring, making one of her Puukko’s.
Sorry mate, Mairaike is not here anymore. Our guides typically come for just 6 months or so, in fact I am the only member of staff here year round. You can see me doing some knife making soon though. I have a couple of blades to work on. The Roselli carpenter is a really nice knife. Thanks for watching mate.
Nice video review, Tim, of my all time favorite knife! My arthritic fingers complain when I use try to open or close most folders, so the Carpenter (or shorter Bear Claw) is my EDC knife. Where I live no one cares if you carry a small fixed knife. And I have reinforced the sheath with another piece of leather to make a pass through belt tunnel, so all is good. Looks like nice weather for being out and about, enjoy!
It was beautiful weather last week mate. Warmest September weather on record in Utsjoki (not far from here). Really looked like it was going to snow yesterday though. Looks like it might not ever stop raining at the moment. I think you told me about your belt loop reinforcement in a comment on my last video of this knife. Either that or someone had a similar Idea. Thanks for watching mate.
Definitely a nice knife. Twelve years ago I bought a carpenter blade blank from Roselli and made my own handle to suit my hand and I have been using ever since and love it.
Roselli carpenter R110 puukko new here in Canada is $150.00 canadian shipped from Germany. Humm. They also make the R110F with a full Tang. I do like that you have a choice. Nice Puukko.
Thanks Dan, they are pretty damn expensive, but nice knives. Looking forward to the day I find one of the full tang models second hand too. Thanks for watching mate.
Gracias amigo, es un buen cuchillo. Nuevo so muy caros, entonces mejor comprar algo mas viejo y hacer un poquillo de trabajo. Gracias por ver el video.
Love your videos. I find it interesting that most Scandinavian knife makers don’t finish their leather edges with Tokonole and a burnisher. I have many Finnish and Norwegian knives and these aren’t cheap knives that I had burnish the edges myself. Where you live is amazingly beautiful. What a place to do a video. 🎸🔪
I do have a couple of Finnish knives where the leather is burnishes but not many. Thinking about it only 2 I think 😂. I actually filmed this video in 2 places that I use a lot. I filmed the video and some of the footage looked dark. I went to the other place a few days later and re filmed a lot of the video while I was there. I am lucky here, there are some very picturesque spots. Thanks for watching mate.
I always wanted to pick up Rosellis smal hunter in his standard HC steel...just to dang spendy for me...I do hope to still acquire one some day before i croak...lol...thanks for sharing and demonstrating that awesome knife with us Tim...atvb...woods
Cheers Woods mate, yes they are very expensive. All of my Roselli tools are second hand. I am lucky to be in Finland, they are not uncommon on the second hand market here. The carpenter was particularly cheap, but as I said in the video, it wasn't in great condition. Thanks for watching buddy.
I have had one for about six years, lovely little carver but a bit limited, so I find myself leaving it in the pack as a backup blade. The Mora Kansbol is hard to beat as a lighter weight all around knife for less money. My thoughts.
The Kansbol certainly is extremely versatile. I definitely prefer the carpenter for carving tasks. Saying that, it isn't the first knife I pick up if I want to make a spoon. I do find that handle extremely comfortable though. Thanks for watching mate.
Ha ha ! ..bless the Unni beast and her floofy tail !! 🐾😂 Kule knife and sheath there Tim bro !! ..awesome !! I have hands like 💩shovels.. lol but I could probably handle that knife on a good day !! lol Blessings and cheers mate !!
Naughty streak my Unni? What are you talking about 😂 I just hope that when the snow comes she doesn't bring any more sleighs full of confused tourists to the workshop looking for me 😂. You can't be naughty when you are supposed to be a lead dog. Thanks for watching Jas.
Yes mate, they are expensive. I got mine second hand (as I said in the video). I wouldn't be able to justify spending that much money on a knife otherwise. I don't do expensive knives (unless I can get them cheap 🤣). Thanks for stopping by.
Looks pretty cool .My personal opinion is if you take a ferro rod with you if you have a decent striker, you don't need a sharp spine ,that sheath could have had a better belt loop for sure ,great video brother thanks for the hard work you put into the channel. God bless you. Lee
Ferro rods generally come with a striker anyway. You're not exactly saving much weight by leaving it at home. A sharp spine is good for scraping wood and fatwood for tinder though and the ferro rod is a good way of demonstrating that. On the other hand you can also use the scraper on your ferro rod for that too 🤣. I have a ferro rod and striker on my keys, so I never leave home without one, hopefully (otherwise I am locked out 🤣). When I don't do the ferro rod on a video someone always asks does it strike a ferro rod, It seems to be important to a lot of people.I do sometimes find it easier with a knife. Depending on the technique I use. If I am pulling the knife over the top of the ferro rod It helps to maintain a good distance over the tinder, the way I did in this video of I remember rightly. Thanks for the support Lee. Great to hear from you and God bless you.
It's a nice little knife. I got a BPS Finn lite yesterday. That's a nice little knife too. The Roselli is much better I think, but more than 5 times the price. Maybe the scales will drop off the BPS tomorrow and change my mind 🤣. Thanks for watching Alex.
@@TheDavewatts I will show it on the channel very soon mate. It has it's pros and cons, but for the price I think it's awesome. Sheath certainly nowhere close to as good as my other BPS knives though.

I should have mentioned the price really. They are expensive, I would never have paid full price for one. They are really nice knives but compared to a Mora companion when you take into account the price difference? For some people it is worth paying the money. For me it's actually nice to have something that I bought all beat up and fixed myself. Thanks for watching mate.
