    Thankyou for your amazing description of Kitchener stitch...I always use it because it makes an exceptional finish, but learned it from another and always in terror and never get a rythm going...your description is soooo good and simple and non scary and I began to understand what was going on and get a good rythm (my pattern leaves me with 28 stitches over two needles) thankyou

    Thank you. I come back to this video every time I have to Kitchener stitch. It's so clear (uh, even though it's, um, blurry. Unclear but clear, I guess. ;-) ) I just had to graft 120 stitches, and I could hear your voice with every one: "Knit off, purl on; purl off, knit on; knit off..."

    I just wanted to say... thank you so much for this series! I actually followed the Hermione’s sock pattern that I saw you’ve previously done! You were so helpful for all of those bits in the pattern that were new to me as someone doing her first pair of socks! You are so clear with your explanations and were a total lifesaver with the heel turn and Kitchener stitch cast off. Thank you!!!

    Thank you SO much for this step-by-step tutorial. I am just learning to make socks and trying different methods. So my current pair are very odd with different heal styles, soles and toes. But, they do both fit, so I will wear them, but will use my favourite parts from the different styles for my next, and hopefully matching, pair. Thanks Jana! 🥂💐💖

    Wowzers, I've completed 1 sock & it looks & fits perfectly. When my partner gave me sock wool as a Christmas present I looked with horror & trepidation. But you came to my rescue, what an absolute dream your videos are Jana, I'm sure I wouldn't have made it to the end without your guidance & easy to follow instructions. I'm loving Kitchener for it's neat finish, here's to matching sock... Keep up the great tutorials & thanks again

    A friend just introduced me to knitting again after a 40 year break . I grew up in Switzerland and in high school we were allowed to knit in all our lessons! Now living in Scotland I followed your excellent instructions to remind myself of sock knitting - thanks for making it look so easy and for the detailed instructions!

      Most of the time when posts are declined in the group it's simply because the required information isn't there. We ask that you include the pattern (if there is one, if not just say you're using my tutorial) and also the yarn that you used.
      I'm glad you're enjoying the tutorial! Thanks for watching.

    I love, love, love your videos and I’ve been able to knit a sick fur the first time ever!!! I do have one question and that is do you subtract any from the measurement of your foot length to allow for the stretch of the sick? Or does that ease become less after you wash the socks the first time?

    • @PurlTogether
      @PurlTogether  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I personally don't subtract for length, but you could if you want them to fit tighter in length. 5-10%
      I don't trust the people in my house with laundry!

    The only thing left out was weaving in the tail at the beginning, so that the edge looks flawless. Other than that, and the glitch in the focusing ... seemed to be focused on the woodgrain, rather than the work ... GREAT video~!!

    when you knit a shadow wrap heel, do you have to also knit a gusset

    • @PurlTogether

    Why are the "tutorials" with the tiniest needles and finest yarn?! Its a TUTORIAL - use GIANT, non ombre, strong contrast colors materials? Its for demonstration!

      Many knitters like to see the demonstration with the actual materials that they're using. You might prefer this series instead, where I have indeed used worsted weight yarn to knit a pair of socks:
