I gotta say, this guy is just different. The internet is covered up these days with fingerstyle freaks playing 8 parts at once. The separation here is not skill. It's musicality. Well done!
Rick Beato also brought me here. I didn't know such things could be played on a single guitar. It blows my mind how good someone can get at something as long as they have the love for doing it. I've subscribed. This is the content youtube needs to be pushing.
Thanks to Rick Beato I was introduced to your guitar playing and wow! Rick was right, you are a phenomenal!!! Loooooove this song! Nirvana was such a pivotal band that influenced me in my early teens! Great work man, I will be sending some of my musical friends to your channel here to witness your Art!
Absolutely unsurpassed use of the baritone! Just like in Wicked Game, you conveyed the whole amazing range of emotions and mood of the song. Thank you for everything, Nathaniel. With love, a fan from far eastern Europe.
Damn, this is good. You and Michael Lemmo have a knack for Nirvana arrangements. Also, another reason I need a baritone. Currently crafting an argument to present to the wife. Thanks for the video!
Hi Nat, i just have to ask you: how can i learn from you? Where I can find your guitar courses or a way to be your student from remote? Or even infos so i can check options and prices...as a musitian i don't have a lot of money (yet) 😅. Thank you kindly
Amp? Twilighter? Stereo? Effects? Signal chain... Inquiring minds want to know. And Thank you Nathaniel for sharing your gift. Hope to see you at The Dallas Guitar show. 😃
I subscribed and then unsubscribed because of the overwhelming skills Nathaniel has🤩it made me realize that l will never be able to play like this…keep on rollin‘, you‘re gifted❤
Hey Nathaniel. Inspiring as ever. Can you please do Trent Reznor's Hurt? Very similar feeling to this cover here. I have a feeling it would be incredible.
Don't hate me, but I never really even liked HSB... until this. I can't get this out of my head. The baritone is perfect for this arrangement, and vice versa.
Sweet arrangement Nathaniel! The baritone guitar suits the melancholy nature of this tune so well. The octaves sound beautiful. I'll have to admit I'm about 300% more interested in baritone guitars since these Castedosas came out. Cheers man
For the melodically impeded among us, please can someone musically clever explain why the resolution of the main riff in this song is so damn satisfying? It’s kind of eery, yet very wholesome all at the same time. A bit like being enveloped by a big warm storm cloud
What a great question. My take on this is the clever mix of minor & major tonalities. A mix of "happy" and "sad" (a bit like mixing "big warm" with "storm cloud"). Nathaniel plays E minor - C - A major. We would expect A minor in the key of E minor. A major gives us a fleeting Dorian moment. The riff ends with the notes C# to G (same notes as Kurt singing "I got a new complaint") which mixes the major 3rd of A major (C#) with the minor 3rd of E minor (G). The interval between C# and G is also the famous "tritone", the most dissonant of intervals, which can be used to great effect, as we hear in this song. Combine that with Nathaniel's sensitivty, accuracy, baritone guitar and tone... envelop me big warm storm cloud!!! Might be a stretch, but you could extend this to Kurt's lyrics as well: "I got a shiny, brand new... complaint". (paraphrased to highlight the "eery, yet wholesome" mix).
This is excellent. Would love to have the tab to this - but given that it's on a baritone I'm guessing that's unlikely as the audience for it would understandably be limited. Sounds wonderful though.
My god that sent shivers through my body! Scouser again, Nath what is that guitar your playing? Don't shout I'm a total noob mate, but I know when I'm listening to something special and that was amazing.

And there amazing fingerstyle guys that have musicality as you say
Nathaniel Murphy is possibly my favorite living guitarist! His arrangement of Wicked Game on baritone is also incredible.
I’m flattered! Thank you
Such talent!
LOVE THIS!!!!!!!

This sounds eerily like the no time to die theme song.
Guitar virtuoso
Holy shit this is amazing, what's the tuning here? Just drop D?
Ahh just saw its a baritone guitar in the description
Yeh standard baritone tuning but with “drop D”
🤯🌟🎶💙🎶🌟🤯

Is this Nathaniel’s official channel? Beatto also brought me here
It is!
Thanks!
@@Zeppelinbarnatra nice. Ur great man love your covers
If Kurt Cobain and Chris Isaac bumped guitars.
Where can we get your music? 🎼🎶💽
Great arrangement and playing, may I ask what gauge string is in the low E and is it flat wound thanks
Not sure what gauge. I just know it’s a baritone set of strings. Standard gauge per baritone I imagine
Anyone able to tell me what tuning this is?…
