Mixed Doubles is great fun, especially to play!

Back in the 1960s & 70s mixed doubles was extremely popular. It used to generate much media attention and the matches were always shown on TV. In fact there were special tournaments which were mixed doubles only.
Interesting how nowadays much of the game is dominated by the women who rely on skillful play whereas the men rely on power play.
I think the game of mixed could be improved if the ball was modified and had less exit speed. This would neutralize some of the men's power game and make for a more interesting type of match.
@@merccadoosis8847 lucky in Badminton, it is normal thing now. Mixed is more fun than single and mens or womans double
@DiM but he does have another angle which is worthy of consideration, combining men's play with female players is a good way to keep the game fresh and add another dimension. sure you are taking away the sheer competitiveness but you are adding tactical adjustments, communication, a little more drawn out plays
@DiM competitive men's sport like this is also just for entertainment.

I have to say Bopanna was the weak link in this match, he missed a lot of relatively easy forehands and Babos was on fire, I think she even took that overhead just because she didn’t want him to miss. Pavic also played really well it would’ve been awesome if he was on the same team as Babos

Came here after bopanna won the AO doubles title , certainly wasn't his best performance, babos was stronger . nonetheless, an entertaining highlights

I thought the etiquette of mixed doubles is the men only serve against the men and same with women. Afterall, a professional man's serve will overpower even the best female tennis player
Well obviously not because we literally saw the women be able to return the mens serve.
