Got to admire anyone who travels alone, i couldn't do it. Although you made it possible for us all to be there with you. That station cottage did look so cosy!
My mum helps clean the station 🙂she has been cleaning the station for over 10 years now. We have just watched your video, love it 😃 So happy you enjoyed your stay. If you ever visit again there is a public footpath through the field to Kirkby to save you going against the traffic. I’m brand new to this channel and I love it!! What an amazing, sweet, and delightful host. I love trains (I’m in the NY/ New Jersey area of the U.S.) and quite familiar with our trains & stations. Most nothing to write home about though. 😂😂 keep up the wonderful work! 😁

Great Video G! One criticism - When walking country roads follow the Country Code - which is "Always walk facing the traffic"! This is so that you can see "disaster" coming! LOL!
Really enjoy your videos.. So much so my wife and I have joined the Settle and Carlisle group.. We plan on staying here soon it looks great. I shouldn’t admit this but I’m a train driver of many years and still love the railway which is why we enjoy your vlogs. Thanks..
Fantastic video, very much enjoyed watching it. Staying at a railway station hotel (whether self catering or otherwise) in a rural location is s great way to combine a love of all things trains with the countryside. I've done something similar, albeit in city centres where I can watch and film busy tramways from the hotel bedroom window.

This is a fantastic video, the enthusiasm and humour don't crowed the content, you have a knack for good balance in your hobby/life it would seem, well that's how you come across, while I'm not fanatical about railways and trains, living in Doncaster 55 years has an affect with regard to railways and their impact globally. I don't drive (medical reasons) so public transport is important to me for getting about but also for enjoyment, we are incredibly lucky in the UK in this regard, sadly public transport has been taking a hit recently in particular and the south (greater London) getting the funding which the North should have got over the last decade or so. I have travelled the settle-carslile line several times and many times in parts, the walk back from Kirkby Stephen to the station is a steep one with a full rucksack. Oh loved the dog Christmas cards, I'll be looking out for those in a few months, take care :)

This wonderful video poped in my suggestions, I know very little about trains, or the Northern network. I have gone back and started with day 1of your videos. You have a wonderful passion for trains, you seem totally down to Earth, while I am watching you, I find myself being drawn in. Your giggles are infectious. I moved to Wales to 18 years ago and my pronunciation of places is bad, I find it hysterical that equally your diction on some locations can be a little warped too. 😀 It lifts my spirits watching your antics. Love the fact you found a great place to stay next to the trains. I felt the same happiness when i found my current home next to the busy wcml. I spent 18 months looking for an ideal place to call home that would suit my sons who are mad about trains.
Their reaction was fantastic, my youngest was dancing round the house and even now 5 months after moving in he still runs up stairs to see what freight is passing!
This was just brilliant. Such a fun video, brimming with positivity and your enjoyment and happiness really came through!

I liked this so much that we decided to stay at Ribblehead Station Master’s house. Such a great experience in very wild weather and grand scenery.

What a super place! Looks like you had a cracking time there, and it took me a minute to realise what that was on the Christmas jumper... Fun way to spend a Christmas break, and I could imagine doing something like this. The other half would hate it, though 😄

Looking back through that visitor's book, was there an entry for day 39 saying 'A person appeared, filmed some clips, sang a song about knickers and then left again. Wow Georgia that was exceptional, what a beautiful cottage that is, the views where out of this world and to top it all off it snowed as well ( I have to say I got a little emotional). amazing looks nice might have to do that myself one day .you'd love the station inn in ribblehead its a pub with a barn with bedrooms plus the ribblehead viaduct .plus you could get the train to settle which is a nice little town to visit take care all the best for 2022
Fantastic video G! I looked up staying at Ribblehead station masters house but decided for one person it was too big and a lot of money for one person. I also realised I will probably spend most of my time on the railway anyway lol. So stayed in Carlisle and had a wonderful time visiting Settle,Ribblehead and Appleby over a couple of days...Carlisle is also a wonderful station!

What an excellent video.
The scene of the snow on the station was so atmospheric and it looked like you had a great time.
I particularly loved this vid, G. I used to go up there quite a bit when me Mum lived in Penrith. I used to up by the Settle to Carisle as far as Langwathby then get a lift over to Penrith. Apart from just edging out the West Coast Mainline for scenery en-route... it was about a quarter the cost to go from Kings Cross to Langwathby changing at Leeds than it was to direct to Penrith from Euston! I *think* you can also stay at Dent station too, but I think it's fenced off from the platform. Again... great vid, thanks for posting!

Have you ever tried Rail Holiday, G? Quaint old rail carriages on the platform at St Germans in Cornwall. Just as magical! This looks equally as picturesque and unique in its own right.

I sort of stayed at a station a couple of weeks ago. I stayed at a hotel next to Glasgow central station. And the view from my window overlooked the whole entire train station! It was amazing, and I would recommend it! Bye the way great video like always.

Just realised all the time I was watching that I was smiling 👍driven lots of trains through ks but not for a few years now. Diverted virgin trains and the dalesrail when I was cross country. A pleasure.
Absolutely infectious video and your effervescent bubbly personality really sells the whole concept!! Are there other stations doing this, or plan to do in the future? I would like to give this a try whenever I ever make it back to the UK. (I was stationed at RAF Upper Heyford in the late 70's for 3 years. I loved everywhere I went so much, I asked the British Consulate how I could become a British Citizen. Short story, I was denied that request...my definite loss!)
In any event, I will now watch ALL of your other vids, as I just retired. Thanks for a job well done and keep up the great work! I look forward to many more to come!!
