This is one of the best examples of "looks harder than it actually is." I remember learning this at university in 2012 and once I had dissected the music and looked at how each of the chromatic runs were structured it was memorized in about 2 weeks. It's so comfortable in the hands and I recommend every pianist take a crack at it. You'll be amazed at how nice it is to play.
i know. every one is scared. i remember my teacher saying me that i have crazy courage in learning new pieces. i start them whit no pullback even they are incredibly hard. i was never scared of a hard piece. i just was figuring out what a long time i have to practice. in this way i mastered crazy pieces like op 25 no 11 chopin, fantaise impromtu, hungarian rhapsody no 6 and much more.
Haven't learnt it ofc, cause I just started it this morning, but I've spent 1.5 hours on it disecting it and taking it into chunks, and I've memorized the first 21 bars (moving onto the bit where it goes to downward thirds) and as you said, it fits perfectly into the hands thus far, and further on it looks like it will as well! and in regards to the guy further down saying he jumps into pieces without fear, I jumped into Ballade no.1 and multiple Rach preludes without hesitation (mind you the Rach part came after learning the Ballade) and my hardest piece before this was Clair de lune. I learnt so much through 1 incredibly hard piece and now can use all that skill and knowledge to learn, somewhat equally yet less hard pieces. Rachmaninoff and Chopin are just gods in my opinion, followed directly by Liszt and Scriabin!
Excellent performance, nearly as good as Lugansky's (which is the best in my opinion) It's a really difficult piece and not many people can achieve this level of clarity, even among famous concert pianists

Hi, kylendry!:) I've watched your video for a long time. Your rendition is amazing and beautiful. Someday, if you allow me to play your arrangement, I'd like to play it. Thanks much.:)
I literally watched all the pianists who played this phenomenal art piece. No one played it as you can. Some would say that there is some exaggeration, but for me, it is exactly how Rachmaninoff played and expressed it. I guess you can still do better))) Keep it up. Imo Rachmaninoff IS the human definition of exaggeration lol. If you get the feeling a pianist is being extra when playing his pieces then it's probably being played correctly XD
Oh kassia my favorite piano piece of all time. Especially 2:12 onwards this sfffz banging accord oh i love it so much. Rachmaninow did a great work imo

Rachmaninov is a legend period. He is like an alien he has UNBELIEVABLE compositions that are so amazing so Powerful that you can melt in place. Mozart, Bach, Beethoven none of them can ever perform or compose such a piece
Remember not to throw around names like that, they were all legendary composers, and they also set the foundations that led Rachmaninov to create such masterpieces through their structural ideas. They all come together in Rachmaninovs compositions, along with his own unique style added which we all love.
I really wanna see your channel blow up! You clearly have a very high level of talent with such a clarity in your playing. I won't be surprised if you reach a million or even ten million by the end of the year!
