I'm back with another piece from my arrangement to-do list. This time, for the first time on my YT channel, I’m dedicating myself to the music of the renowned Greek composer Vangelis. With his soundtracks for "Chariots of Fire", "1492: Conquest of Paradise", and "Blade Runner", he left a lasting mark on the world of film music, particularly through his innovative use of synthesizers.
The epic main theme from "Conquest of Paradise" is definitely my favorite work of his. I’m especially fascinated by the impressive blend of orchestral and electronic sounds, as well as the memorable yet somber main melody, which later transitions into a hopeful, heroic B-theme. This music has touched me deeply ever since I was a child. I still remember how often it played on the radio in the 90s, especially here in Germany, where it became famous as the entrance theme for boxer Henry Maske.
For a long time, I doubted whether this piece would work well on the piano - particularly the B-theme, which consists of only a few notes and relies heavily on the unique instrumentation and sounds of the original composition. However, I’ve often had similar doubts with other soundtracks that I eventually dared to arrange.
Now, I’m quite happy with the result, and I hope you’ll like it too!

As a greek, thank you for honouring this man's legacy, his work is so impressive and endearing to me. It is so sad however to see that he is not known in Greece as far as I am concerned, as I've never met anyone who knows him or his compositions. I do though and, from my heart, thank you for this arrangement!
I think we definitely know him but maybe he isn't as famous as Mikis Theodorakis or Manos Xatzidakis

Please never stop doing what you are doing right now, because I'm clearly not the only one affected by your music, you are greatly helping others discover their talents as well.

This one reminds me of your own composition Binary in the sense that it has two contrasting melodies, one with a darker feel. Never heard of this one but will definitely have to check out the original now! I absolutely adore your style of arranging it blows my mind how you can make a few keys sound like a full orchestra. Wonderful performance as always!

I saw you mention a couple times you weren't sure if certain musics would work well on piano. Please try to get rid of that doubt, your way of arranging is always giving justice to the original, no matter what kind of music you're playing. It might also make you arrange musics in ways you never have before, we never know!

I was listening to this in the background for the first time yesterday and when it got to 1:43, my jaw literally dropped and I had to stop and play that part again. Honestly this is your best arrangement yet Patrik, and the rhythmic transitions from quavers to triplets in this one particularly was mind blowing. Another masterpiece of an arrangement, can't wait for more of your compositions too!

Didn’t think I’d hear a pure piano version of this wonderful Vangelis piece, very well arranged and played.
I AM ASTOUND! The day I have a military exercise know as the toughest one they make early soliders go through, and which they play this exact theme at the ceremony they have at the end when they give us the main reward, a beret hat, you release this piece of art. It's almost as if you knew this day was comming for me lol😮 I swear we live in the matrix
