He has no idea of what our country would’ve been if this RESPECTABLE PRESIDENT wasn’t CONTROLLING things in GHANA.
This is a ploy. This is how the West advances their negative narrative about Africa.
This journalist allowed himself to be a puppet of the white man. These questions and statements were calculated to inspire sensationalism and negativity.
Africans worldwide open your eyes, don't allow yourself to still be hypnotized by neocolonists whose only agenda remains the same since granting so called independence; which is to paint Africa negatively at all costs. Yes we have problems and bad leaders in some "countries"...BUT we do not need white people to fix our problems. We can do it on our own for our own. AFRICA BEYOND AID, especially since that "aid" is only to distract us while they steal all the resources to build the West and leave Africa broken.
They are wolves in sheep's clothing. They never did and never will wish any good for Africa. They are angry that Ghana 🇬🇭 has began to see the depth of their trickery and started processing their own cocoa. Switzerland is mad about that as well. The French are mad because Mali 🇲🇱 and Guinea 🇬🇳 have woken up and are chasing them out and taking back control of their resources.
The pawn interviewer should have at least answered ONE question just ONE !!!. All he did was spew negative statements. This interview is trash and agenda driven. It's plain as day.

He's full of crap. In the United States, every single monetary transaction platform has at least a 2% fee even before the first $100. In Ghana the government proposed a 1.75% fee on Mobile Money transactions over 100 cedis; this is under the assumption that most, if not all people transacting 100 cedis on Mobile Money are at the upper-lower class or above. Therefore making it acceptable to deduct a mere 1.75% from the transaction. What a waste of an interview with one of the most innovative leaders in Africa. Shame.
In Ghana, the government officials ride in $100,000 SUVs, cars that are not gas efficient. They don’t pay for gas, the poor Ghanaian does. They ride around in convoy’s of over 30 SUVs .now do the math. Over $3 million dollars and depreciating. Cars that are meant for snow and desert, non of which Ghana has. and the only reason they ride in those cars is because of bad roads. Common sense should tell you to fix the roads, so you don’t have to ride in such expensive cars. Meanwhile women are having babies, and laying on hospital floors with their newborns. Because of lack of beds. School children sit on dirt floors, under trees to study. People don’t have access to clean drinking water. Government officials leave Ghana to the west to seek medical attention, buy homes in the US, UK, Dubai etc. Whiles Ghanaians a left to deal with bad medical system ,schools, housing market most of them can’t afford. Ghanaians are one of the most easiest people to deal with, doesn’t take much to make them happy. Why can’t they be respected and treated with dignity. There are no jobs, Ghanaians had Covid tax imposed on them and now e-levy. With all the resources Ghana has, a country the size of Michigan, Ghanaians shouldn’t be suffering like they do now. I think no Ghanaian government official should seek medical attention outside Ghana, shouldn’t send their children to school abroad, shouldn’t buy homes or any type of property abroad. It should all be illegal. They should declare all their assets and financial statements before they are appointed. And these records should be public.

Everything you described is spot on, I experience what you said everyday here in Ghana. The roads especially baffle me, and I ask myself, is not the Ghanaian government embarrassed about the potholes and rock roads?

This is a BBC reporter right! He knows people in UK are now choosing between eating and heating their homes. Some parents just eat the leftovers from their children. Even people are rejecting free food from the food banks because they can't afford to cook it because of the energy crisis. Moreover they have increased taxes on top of all these. Let me give you one very simple example of why taxation never works in Ghana. In completing just that 19km stretch of the tema accra motorway, one could count over a 1000 vehicles that paid tolls to use the road. So imagine how much was generated in a day. We paid toll to use the motorway for decades, yet government after government, authorities refused to keep the streetlights on, refused to fix potholes which became manholes, refused to ensure highway patrol to enforce road rules, refused to provide tow service, refused to expand lanes, refused to even pay toll collectors decent wages. This scary highway has claimed uncountable lives and caused so much damage to vehicles. Same story for all the other toll roads. All that money generated for years and years disappeared into the pockets of the very people we trusted to protect the public purse. And this is a form of tax we could all SEE was being given to government, yet its benefits were not being felt by the ordinary people.
We’ve been paying various forms of tax for decades, and just like the tolls, we don’t see the benefits because our officials use our sweat to cushion their lives. This e-levy is nothing but legalised robbery, and he is very well aware of what he is doing.

After your income tax, you pay sales tax on every item that you buy in the country even online items and even water.When you get bonus pay from your job you get tax up to 50%. When you work overtime, you get taxed more. There are all kinds of taxes, and not paying will take you to jail. Before we compare standards of living, tell me how much taxes people pay in Ghana to build that standard of living?

There is a huge fiscal deficit in Ghana and hence they might find it difficult to secure new loans, in short there is a shortfall in a government's income compared with its spending. So they need tax to increase income so they can take more loans that they might never be able to pay, thats how this whole cycle of over taxing citizens for more loans will remain in the loop. Our Politicians are just wicked and self centered infact politics in Africa is a way out of poverty for many.

The President was spot on. We all know the country’s going through hard times like nearly everywhere else in the world at the moment. He’s trying to mitigate that by putting new structures in place i.e. the Ghanacard, SIM card registration, Free Shs etc and introducing new taxes on new industries that’s racking in loads of cash to help Ghana/Ghanaians recover.
