    I like the idea behind this, and the shave does look close without irritating skin. The technology however seems aggressively overpriced, don’t think a rechargeable heat pad on a normal razor is worth 200$ , very curious if there are any cheaper / knockoff brand versions of this .

    • @averageguytested
      @averageguytested  3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      I would have to agree with you. It works well and is a great luxury gift if you can afford it, but it should be $75 or less. IMO

    • @CRShaves

      I was thinking about that too. But then got to thinking the exfoliating bar will fail on the lower grade Labs razor. Whereas the metal is less likely to fail, the tech will fail but the bar will still heat in hot water. Penny for your thoughts..

    • @CRShaves

      So it seems like it needs to prep itself for warm up then once complete it goes to standby? Correct me if I'm wrong. Damn. Gonna be spending money on this now. Also, Are the Gillette Labs Heated blades different than the Gillette Labs Exfoliating bar blades or the same deal?

    Hi, my name is Meir from Israel
    I watch your videos
    And I wanted to ask you which of all the Gillette razors and razors is the most comfortable to use
    I tried a Panasonic electric machine, not so experienced and also makes wounds.
    I have now switched to the new giilette double blade knife
    I haven't tried the heating one, it doesn't seem useful to me, the company every time releases a new gimmick with the same knives.
    So in your opinion, which Gillette can you really say is the best?

    • @averageguytested
      @averageguytested  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think that Gillette makes great razors - but based on what you’ve said here I’d say that you should try the SKINGUARD or stick with the old Mach3. To me, less blades are better.

    • @מאיראליהו-נ6י
      @מאיראליהו-נ6י ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey
      Thanks for the comment
      I think he continued to shave with the Gilt Fusion Felix Ball Power.
      You also discovered that a brush for applying the shaving cream helps to lift the hairs and thus shaving is easier
      And in addition, it is always better to shave after showering
      In addition, what is your opinion on gillette labs, is there a difference in shaving with this knife compared to Gillette Fusion Felix Ball or is it a new gimmick by Gillette to sell something new,
      In addition, in the new model I have already seen that the coating of the handle tends to peel off.

    I've been out of the Gillette news cycle since 1998 when the Mach 3 came out. Used it for a few years to 2006. Then switched over to DE Gillette razors and have a nice collection.
    I went to an estate sale and seen the Gillette ProGlide Flexball razor new in the box and thought "Whoa whats this?" Brought i home and by lick my wife was using the Fusion blades that fit onto this ProGlide Flexball.
    Thought why not.
    OOOOH BOY what a shave. Beautiful shave. No knicks, blood and most of all NOT A HINT of razor "burn". Usually when I shave some areas I am a little bit aggressive with the DE razor.
    But with this ProGlide Flexball I was astounded. Amazing shave. Didn't care for th vibration feature as that left my finger numb. A gimmick to me.
    I am curious about this heated razor now that I've gone down the rabbit hole.
    A lot has changed in almost 20 years. Wow. Amazing.

    I started looking into this, glad I found your review. I've been using the Gillette Stylus for the last few years, I love it. I've tried other razors and I've also tried dollar shave club, none of them compare to the quality that my razor gets. The main feature that it has which I benefit from, is the vibration. It looks like this razor does not have that feature, but please, correct me if I'm wrong. With my face, I don't think there's any other way I can get a good shave without that feature.

    • @averageguytested
      @averageguytested  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This doesn’t have the power vibration feature. Try the new Gillette SKINGUARD- it’s really good for people with sensitive skin.

    Great review as always but what is the warranty for this ? IMO when that razor starts to age , a seam may separate and allow water to leak in. Another issue is the heat factor which is another enemy of plastic . In time, this may cause the handle to warp and separate . Of course this will happen whenever the warranty expires . Maybe if it was all metal , it would have a chance..

      @@averageguytested I would love to get a wiring schematic of this thing to see what makes it tick. I'm sure ( I hope) the wiring , chips and pc board are incapsulated (Protected) within the body of the handle. As I mentioned above , I wish Gillette made this out of metal. Four things never mix together..water, electric, heat and plastic. By the way, 1-What DE blade do you recommend for sensitive skin with course hair. 2- what is your opinion on ''Treet'' DE carbon steel blades. (I know there real old school ). When you are shaving your chin area at 8:54, one can clearly see how much the 5 blade cart is pulling/tugging!!! • @Orlyy
      @Orlyy 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      But why though? I can see it being viable. When I let my razor sit in rather hot water, then go to shave, it's ALWAYS a much better, smoother experience. In theory, this would provide that same thing, but without the need to hold it under the faucet after it starts to cool down again. I can't help but think that people would have a MUCH different opinion if it was significantly cheaper. I personally would not buy at $200, but if it dropped a fair amount, I'd probably try it.

    The Gillett Heated razor takes a while to get your skin toughened up to it. The Gillett Fusion Power razor is better for a Quick shave. The reason being. The Heated Razor doesn't have as Flexible Blade so it gives you small nicks till your skin toughens up. You also have to shave Slower to appreciate the heat. Which is GREAT! at a slow speed. The Fusion POWER doesn't nick because blade vibrates. Best razor if you are in a hurry. Heated best to feel a Nice Heated Relaxing shave if you like to feel Pampered.But it takes time to get used to it. I have had mine for a year. Harry Razors make a Good Finish for spots (especially Necks) for a supper smooth skin because they have a SUPER FLEXIBLE Neck Attachment. But for all 3 razors I prefer the Fusion POWER Till I Got Used to the HEATED RAZOR. I Found with ALL THE RAZORS the SECRET TO A CLOSE SMOOTH SKIN IS to use them (after the initial shave) LIKE A PAINT ROLLER. Pushing the razor up for the Moisturizing Strips to Work and then Shaving DOWN like using a Paint Roller on a wall. UP & DOWN, UP & DOWN. Keeping the razor on the skin. It Sounds CRAZY!!! BUT IT WORKS!!! I have tried all makes of cartridge razors over 40 years and this crazy method works for all of them. I figured it out by thinking the razors have Moisturizing Strips but they don't seem to work. HOW CAN I GET THEM TO WORK? SO... I thought why not see if they work by putting them on the face before the blade shaving stroke by pushing the razor UP. and It WORKED. So now my shaving is smooth and so is my skin. It even stopped the hidden nicking of the heated razor whose neck is too stiff to shift fast enough for the contours of your face. A flex compensated for on the Fusion POWER and the HARRY razors. That isn't a after shave menthal feeling you are getting from the razor. It is a feeling from tiny nicks. If you ever used a razor BEFORE LUBRICATED & FLEX HEADS you will know what I mean. Same feeling if you use a Blade Too Long and it gets Dull. So... This razor is Great once you get use to it and then feel Pampered by the heat. You won't want to use another. But microscopic nicking will occur if you press at all and shave too fast till your skin toughens up. TAKE IT SLOW... and use the Moisturizing Trick I told you to no matter what razor you use. It is OVER PRICED. I could see $50-$70.00 for it at the most. It should be cheaper than a GOOD ELECTRIC RAZOR that has Fewer Blade Replacement costs. And the Replacement Blades should be much cheaper. Like about $15.00 not $40.00 up range.

    In these Inflationary Times. HERE IS AN EASY WAY TO DO IT MY FRIENDs Use any hard Bar Soap, Tallow or Glycerin based Soaps out there? To fit in any Mugs or Cups? Like" (Mitchells' Wool Fat or Arko Sticks. Just to name a few of them?) You can mix and match your old Soaps? Cut up the soap on a paper plate, pour your soap chunks with the shavings from the Paper Plate into a Mug, cover the soap with a small amount of water, and microwave your soap. For about a minute or so? Place a paper plate under your mug in case it bubbles out of your cup? If it foams up, STOP. The water keeps it from burning itself up. (DON'T OVER WATER YOUR SOAP??) Easy, does it? Let cool don't want to Crack the Mugs or Cups you're using? (You just want it to Congeal in your Mug or Cup') it is very hot and watery'''''. let it cool in PLACE'. after it cools, put it in a Sunny Window, until the Soap hardens? When using your soaps, use Dry Brush Less Water. It thickens the soap, making it easier to use on your face. Save your Money, spend it on your wife, don't listen to the shave Mafia.
