daves is on a whole other level compared to these two tho for sure, not throwing shade but its the truth, another channel i highly recommend is royalty auto service, they go in a deep dive for specific diagnosis with scanners and testing with different equipment to find the problem not just checking for codes and throwing parts at it
Only way to do it brother, not sure where you’re located but it’s too hot in Florida to do anything else. Last week we touched an all time high feel of 112 degrees.
I like the love and honesty. I try to give a sales pitch of why I'm an attractive option being mobile but its never a good feeling to throw someone else under the bus to boost yourself nor does it look professional. I'm sure shop mechanics are at the top of their game and in a whole nother league above me but I'm happy to accomplish smaller jobs and provide a rewarding service. Both have their pros and cons. Shops charge more and some mobile guys are hacks that skip town. Being honest about it will scare away the trash talkers. Thanks guys, I appreciate the comradery.
Awesome video bro! Only thing I noticed is it was kind hard to hear you guys at times. Besides that thanks for the video, very informative and motivating!
Hey Ty you should create a course going over the basic automotive systems and everything for beginners or whoever wants to become their own boss and mobile mechanic
Excellent collab! As a mobile mechanic, I have a 10 mile radius. People say they will pay me extra and I refuse because they think it will be $20 extra and not double. I will drive for friends and family and good customers who move away and know they have to have enough work for the whole day which usually involves servicing 3-4 vehicles at once so it actually cuts down on the total driving I do on the day. I torque lugnuts because my last day as a service writer before getting promoted to run a shop, I drove a customer home who had a wheel fall off. We smoked a joint and talked about making sure the shop was liable and the kid working on it got sacked even though nobody there torqued tires and continued not doing it. They are using cheap air impacts from harbor freight and not even using torque sticks.
For me it’s more over tightening lug nuts. Especially on fords, jeeps, and cars with aluminum caps that like to swell. I’ve had shops torque them down too much and I’ve ripped my aluminum caps trying to get them off. I just use a torque limiter on my impact to get them all in the same range.
I'm working as a diesel mechanic for a mobile repair company making 1300 a week but billing like 2000 to 6000 a week. It doesn't make much sense for me to be a employee when I could be the boss with those margins. How do you start your own business? I wanna do it independently but no idea how I have been a mechanic in shop for years and just started mobile and see how much money companies and people pay to have the work done on their property or on side of road.
I’ve been in auto for years and just got into diesel maybe 4 months ago and went Mobile been training for a month now… any update on doing it? I’m thinking of doing some side work
Do it just get started now. You already have the skills and knowledge. You don’t have rebuild engines or transmissions as a mobile mechanic unless you want to
Great video.. I have a 2006 corolla with a p0420.. Where do I start to check.. And any how to change the catalytic converter replacement.. Or find the source first... My stft is low Ltft is 12 -13% on idle But when I'm driving 25 % Thank you have a blessed day and be blessed
I have nothing against anyone who torques lugnuts I applaud you it’s an extra sense of security. I’m not a fan of the countless people that call me a hack or say that I don’t know what I’m doing because I don’t torque lug nuts. I’ve been working on cars for 12 years and whether by impact or half inch manual ratchet tight is tight I’ve never had a wheel come loose.
Per my policy, I torque all lug nuts to the manufacturers' specifications; I perform a double torque procedure and document it for my records. Mobile auto repair business, Owner/Operator of “ICDT Automotive, LLC
Love your vids bro hopefully one day I can get more into mechanics like you it was always my dream just never had the money to get started or learn it anywhere.
I’ve been turning wrenches for 12 years now almost 13 years. flat rate pay those i do timing chain jobs on everything chevys fords Nissans Hondas acuras Toyota lexus you name it. I’m just starting my business right now barely wanted to gain the service experience including the office I always torque wheels
Last week I had a mobile mechanic come to my house and it was kind of weird he brought no tools or anything he came in a car took my car for a spin and told me to diagnosis of it change one of the motor mounts and my car is still acting the same.
Fresh mechanic or not, a torque wrench will cover your ass. With wheels a tq wrench should be used. I use it for that same reason. It separate me, from those that don’t. Plus if a customer see you using it, they will have a lot more confidence than if you didn’t.
Not a competition we serve different purposes. If people wanted to pay OEM pricing ide use only OEM parts. TRQ has quality aftermarket parts a lot better than some of the stuff I’ve seen online. They offer lifetime warranty and quick shipping. Alex uses Autozone which I use 90% of the time as well. People complain about Autozone. Everyone’s got an opinion.

I don't touch poor clients personally. Not worth the hassle.
