  • @KeRaySh

    I just ordered the Odin 2 mini Pro and instantly started getting doubts because I fear the smaller screen will be too small when playing games in 4:3, but that screen size comparison makes it seem like the full sized Odin 2 screen isn't "significantly" bigger so it's not a huge difference.
    The mini has the portability and hopefully better screen factor going for it.
    The smaller battery is a bummer, but I mostly play.this thing at home and never for more than 2 hours so it's a non-issue for me.
    This video helped me get these doubts out of my head. Thanks!

    I not really a big fan of smaller units, but with a 5" screen, and only $33 difference in price for the Odin 2/mini what the hell I'll give it a cheers. 🍻 I love to see the clear buttons making a come back, but no led lighting in any of the pics. I guess we have to wait and see from reviews if there is any, I'm betting there's isn't, really a shame. I did love the looks of the new face plate, ( the front) the nice cut around the front facing speakers is a nice detail. great video Joey as always 🍺

    Got my Retroid Pocket 4 Pro back in early April because I wanted a pocketable device that could still play GC/PS2/Wii games. The Odin 2 was too massive for me. Had I known this was gonna release, I probably would've waited. 😳 Seriously considering picking this up. It's significantly more powerful, it has a higher resolution screen AND it's mini-led?? AND it's practically the same size as the RP4Pro? I'm impressed. Didn't think a device like this would come out this year, mere months after the 4Pro.
    I just wonder how the battery life will compare to the RP4Pro since they have the same size battery.
    I'm thinking the Snapdragon will be more power efficient, but it also will be driving a higher resolution screen, so I dunno. 🤔 Very interested in seeing what reviews say, but I'll probably pre-order it anyway. Even if the battery life is only as good as the 4Pro, I think that'll be fine.

    •  28 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Does the retroid pocket 4 pro attend you well? Can you play GC/PS2/Wii well on it? I'm thinking about buying one
      (even though I own an odin2. I'm thinking about selling it because I only play Gc and wii on it, I never play switch and don't plan to do it). In my country, I could sell odin2 for a more expensive price (even considering its used) because people don't want to tisk getting taxed and would have to wait too long to buy an odin2 from ayn website. I could sell it for around 600$. I'm thinking about buying a retroid pocket 4 pro and and keep an extra 300 dollars for myself (I'm including shipping, the case etc)

    • @jakehooker
      @jakehooker 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I have the RP4 Pro, and I’m very happy with the PS2 emulation right out of the box! I also have the Odin Lite, and it’s great, but I’ve often found it too big to carry around. I think $340 is too much, especially considering that Retroid will likely have a comparable processor by the end of the year, and it will probably sell for much less.
      I highly recommend the RP4 Pro, though RoeTaka has directly told me the Odin 2 is worth the extra money.

    I literally just got my regular Odin 2 pro a few weeks ago... why would I want to "upgrade" to a mini when that means a smaller screen and more than likely less battery power? (the only advantage I can think of to upgrading is for a more pocket-able handheld, and considering the fact that I usually wear bulky cargo shorts with deep pockets and can already fit my nintendo switch in them, that's really not a big deal for me)

      I'm really digging the concept of all that power in a smaller package with a Mini-LED screen, but I can't figure out for the life of me why they would straight up copy the Vita! Don't get me wrong, I love my Vita's, I bought the OG 1000 series in 2012 when it released as well as a Slim later on and I still have and play them both, but... they're MISERABLE to play for more than 30 minutes or so at a time unless you use a grip! They really should have thought twice about aping the Vita design, but I'll still probably get one, lol.

    • @jeremy__hopkins
      @jeremy__hopkins 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@dsmgx916 Sony dropped the ball with the Portal at least they did for fans of their classic systems. This is roughly the device I wanted from Sony for a Vita 2.0 and odd that it has to come from a 3rd party. PS1, PS2, PSP and some Vita games in this design isn't bad but I agree that a grip accessory with the added butt cheeks would make this far more comfortable. Generally I think AYN has the right idea. The next Steam Deck will probably be sleeker and more refined but doubtful an x86 handheld can shrunk to this size. I understand why people wouldn't like this handheld but design ideas aren't bad.

    This would be perfect if the screen was 5.5". I would've canceled my Pocket S order, but now I am not so sure. I am paying $499 for 1080p 16/512G Pocket S, and this one is $399 for 12/256G with a few years older chip and less premium material. If you compare apple to apple Odin 2 mini may be more expensive than Pocket S early-bird price. But I really like the sticks on my RP5 pro, and that's causing me to sway. And seemingly, repairability would be an issue with Pocket S. This indecision will cost me sleep for a few days.

    • @arty8478
      @arty8478 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Before you buy the Pocket S, watch some recent reviews. Problem is the Pocket S suffers horribly in switch emulation due to turnip driver issues because of the new Snapdragon processor, whereas the Odin 2 and by extension the Odin 2 mini perform excellently because the drivers support this older processor.

    • @I.M.T.S
      @I.M.T.S 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @arty8478 Yes, I am aware of the graphics issue with switch games on pocket s. Considering Adreno A32 is a new gpu unit, I expect it'll take some time for custom drives to catch up. Considering the latest turnip driver already supports A32, meaning the team received a pocket S to work with, I expect it to get better over a few iterations. And you can be sure there will be more devices in the future that'll use this exect chip, most probably even Odin 3 will use it. So, I am not concerned about this chip.
      Personally given the opportunity, I want to have the latest chip and more ram in case Windows emulation becomes mature on Android. Also It seems Ayaneo is working to fix the dpad issue reviewers had and postponed shipping.

    Mini LED is something between VA and OLED in terms of quality, imagine OLED colours but the contrast is not quite there since the pixels do not shine by themselves and instead have dimming zones (yet the contrast is a lot better than VA and certainly trillion times better than the shitty IPS) there are great videos about Mini LED on TH-cam, the biggest advantage is, that it is the closest technology to OLED that does not have burn-in and is even cheaper.

    I don’t know, man. having the odin 2, vita, oled deck, modded switch oled and lite, the mini although attractive is hard to justify. in an ideal world, the odin 2 should have 6.5 inch screen and the mini with 5.5 inch oled on the 556, 5 inch screen is just a little too small. also with yuzu gone, vita 3k half baked, having another powerful android handheld is kind of pointless. if those two emulators are a-lot better than what they are now, then it will be a instant buy, since it can replace both the vita and switch lite. having repurchase the vita recently I find myself often use it with the horri grip, i imagine i will do the same with the mini, which makes the size and weight advantage disappear.
