@@Jaindike True, there was a frankenstein like driver package available before to trick your pc thinking the card was dx 11 , which worked for some games, however it seems the website no longer exist.
I had this exact card, i loved this thing. It was an upgrade from a 8800gts and a whole house heater to boot and yes the loud fans is exactly what it sounded like brand new out of the box 😂
At the time I got crazy deals in semi-new hardware among the Portuguese benching community, they would use and review them for about a month or 2 and then sell them at half the price, so for a couple of years I had top-tier hardware on the cheap. 1st I got the 3870x2 and after the 4870x2, but the huge leap in performance I had was when I upgraded to the beautiful 5870 (single GPU) afterwards, it almost doubled the performance. It I ended up in a Mac Pro, just PuP.
"ATi's last dual GPU card" ATi HD 5970 was their last ATi branded multi-gpu card, even has dx11 support too so it can launch alot more modern games, cs2 runs with crossfire on it with afr compatible settings even. great vid!
hey man are you sure the hd5970 runs cs2 with crossfire enabled? I have this video card here and I've already tested CS2 on it, but only one of the gpus works
back when i had a crossfire setup with 6850's i had to ensure that the game profile was loaded in Catalyst control center and also be in full screen mode (not borderless window or anything else). some games were specific to the driver since the driver would introduce a profile for that specific game.
there's nothing wrong with your card. its fine and fully working i have a few of these cards in my collection. dual gpu crossfire games are touch and go and take very good care of this card there getting rare and expensive to get hold of now.🙂😜 i nearly have every dual gpu graphics card that ever came out. im only missing a few models in my collection and will be making videos about them in the future.
Crossfire not working might need you to enable a crossfire profile after adding the game in to the drivers, like a game profile that uses x or y settings when launched. Or renaming it to another game that has the same game engine for crossfire to work, only messed with it briefly myself with a pair of hd 5770's but i read that's sometimes needed for it to run better.
Gt 730 4gb ddr3(1100mhz mem clock version), Intel c2q Q8400/Q9550 and 4-8GB DDR3 Ram. Lets see how this setup plays recent games CS2 GTA 5 BeamNG Drive Apex Legends Valorant And some classics like L4D2 ,Half life 2 etc
lol I have a 7990 beast, liquid cooled with EK water blocks, one 240mm rad for each gpu, dual pump Koolance res, 3 fan slot card to help cool the rest of the card. It's running in a current amd 5 set up, it's hard to give up that memory interface of 384... unless you are gonna drop over a grand, it's hard to get a card with more than 256... mini heater though that thing.. got a 700 watt power supply all to itself, ya I know overkill but hey, go big or stay home ^^
I beleve the 4000 series got dropped pritty early with driver support and much like most of amds line needs some community made drivers to get the best of it.
SLI / CrossFire died to pave way for temporal based technologies such as TAA, TAAU, and later DLSS and FSR 2.0+. The GPU needs data from the previous frame to 'reconstruct' the current frame but with multi-GPU setups, that data is on the other GPU... which poses a problem, to say the least! Anyhow, the best way to get rid of fan noise on these old GPUs is to take off their fan shroud and use 2 x 120mm fans mounted on a GPU cooling bracket which you can easily find on ebay, Amazon, etc for around $5-10.
Finally a new video after a long time
Had the hd 4870X2 was really a beast back in the days. Nice to see this card gen again to see whst it can handle nowadays 🙂
It's a shame it doesn't support dx 11.. Would've survived alot better

Had one these, it held up for many years and kept kicking ass before I bought an HD 6950.

Wow, that screen tearing during CSGO is the worst I have ever seen
Good video. Google your motherboard model and crossfire to see if it supports it.
Will do, thanks
Can it run bean battles?
I'm not sure the DX requirments of bean battles, but if it's dx 10, this card definitely can
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Impressive performance compared to my 10th gen core I3 integrated graphics. For reference I get 28 FPS in GTA 5 at 720p lowest settings.
I guess todays IGPUs ≈ 2008 Flagships
I love it for the retro games

can you try the weakest crossfire gpu ever? (Hd 7450 + Hd 7450) might be an intresting video
I used crossfire in gta v by default on my two 290Xs, I remember when I switched to 980Ti my frames droped from 150 to 100
also test 7990 Devil 13 😢

Didn't know that, thanks. Never experimented much with custom cooling for GPUs but that sounds very effective
doka doka💃
Ah, you remind me of R9 295x2
I'd love to check that card out. Dual GPU graphics cards are sick
OMG the screen tearing! Turn vsync on lol
Half of its the screen tearing.. the other half is my crappy capture card. But your right lol
Dude i just farted
Wait a minute, how are you playing csgo? It has been permanently shut down and no servers are online
The footage was recorded before hand. But I believe in CS2 launch options you can choose to start csgo. Community servers may still be up
nice card
Dual GPU 😍
Yes, but can it run Crysis? Well no, no it cannot.
Oh wow i’m first
Jaindike OG right here
