In this video, we chat with Erik from ‪@GuardedCrown‬ , an expert in vintage Rolex watches. We showcase some incredibly rare pieces and Erik shares his knowledge on all things neo-vintage as well as some unique historical facts!
Erik, who among making bespoke jewelry focuses primarily on Rolex models from the mid-1990s to mid-2000s, explains the appeal and robustness of sports models like the Submariner and GMT due to their durability and water resistance.
We discuss the advantages of newer Rolex models that incorporate sapphire crystals and ceramic bezels over vintage models with plexiglass crystals which are less durable and harder to replace. We also touch on the rarity and value of original dials in vintage watches and the significant cost and difficulty in restoring them through Rolex's secret department.
We showcase several unique Rolex watches and mention other brands like Patek Philippe and Omega. We conclude by sharing insights into his background in the jewelry industry and his plans to open a new lifestyle-focused store!
