Salute to our greatest prime minister Pandit Nehru ji ❤. He laid the foundation of the biggest democracy iin the world. Swami Vivekanand had said ' the temples of the modern India will be industries and foodball grounds ". Nehru ji priotorized education,science and technology in all areas which propagated tremendously diversified India towards a self sustaining economy rising from 96% illiteracy, hunger , terrible poverty and backwardness.
Genuine warm welcome gracefull and dignified. No jumlas, no bombastic statements. Reflects the statesmanship and the respect Nehru commanded. The present pm is undignified and a self bombast, with no substance.

@@MrAntonysimon Statesman:: Indian statesmen were undoubtedly respected before 2014, but after Modi came to power, he had to be “tolerated" by the West for trade and strategic purposes (keep China and Russia on line as was always the case prior to Modi too). If the bhakts believe that Modi is popular abroad, then that may be true with his psycophants who are Indian by ethnicity , adorning a large red dot on their forehead (primarily young Indians on a student Visa and sometimes senior citizens). There are large swathes of them studying at Rutger in New Jersey who are the ones beating the Modi drum. In UK, people like this are seen as “wierd" and ignored and not especially “respected “ , but they just exist like every other foreign nationality living there

The grace and sincerity reflected by President Kennedy through his mannerisms for Pandit Nehru was so genuine and remarkable. It’s out of the world now. And both these leaders didn’t live long after this historic meeting of theirs in Nov-1961. RIP, both of them.

India's 1st Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehruji visit to USA during early 60s and meeting with one of most iconic American Presidents John F Kennedy is a historic moment.This is one of rare occasions where we get to see a colored video of Nehruji and this was one of those rare occasions where a video of Panditji and his daughter Indira Gandhiji (who became India's 1st lady Prime Minister) together.
What is more impressive was that this was actually his third visit to the US and not his first and even then the public treated it as a first visit. People of all races - young and old stood waiting at the airport to see him and cheer him. It is a sign of great respect and excellent manners - at least that is how I saw it.
A highly educated principled heavy with experience of the India which emerged from slavery to this present sloggish illiterate uncultured incompetent incapable goons n jail birds holding the reigns of our great nation. It's a horrible disgrace we have a unqualified disrespectful indifferent hard nut as PM.
The respect and admiration in USA and the world towards Pandit Nehru was for the individual. India in 1960’s was not what India is today. It was hardly 10 to 15 years after India became a republic and was not economically or otherwise a powerhouse. Pandit Nehru’s charm and personality is unmatched. The critics of Nehru today completely ignore the ground realities that prevailed then. Nehruji’s policies, were shaped considering what was good for the country based on where India stood then. Some of his policies did go wrong, but that is in hindsight. The faults in his decisions were more on account of the fact that he was a gentleman and expected the leaders elsewhere were also like him. But the world leaders, especially China, Pakistan etc were of different mindset which he failed to realise, more because Nehru was not cunning. His economic policies were also based on the fact that India then was poor and had little resources. The present day industry tycoons were not there and their presence was less noticeable. So, the Government had to step in with planned economy model. Nowhere in the world, except in Banana republics, the present leaders find fault with their predecessors like it is being propagated in India.
Of course! It is not to be taken as a blame on Mr. Nehru. It is the progress India has made since that time! There is no doubt that to day we have clearly shifted from one of a poor nation to a powerful one! It is made evident by the words and action of the present PM, Mr. Modi! Unfortunately we still try to belittle one or the other!
I will say that PM Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Rajeev Gandhi did handle the situations and economical models that were the best options during those times, considering lack of our industrial support from private enterprise. Please keep in mind, Rajeev Gandhi was the one who opened up the multinational companies to setup their operations during this PM years. That opened up jobs and access for an average person in india to leap into the technology.
A leader's first and foremost duty is towards his country - the people who elected him/her. The leaders of China/Pakistan did what they did to safeguard their country. PM Nehru or rather the officers advising him should have anticipated that. The current leadership's focus appears to be to build support for their party with the masses that are not very educated. The easiest way to spoon feed loyalty to a party is to bash the opponent I guess. So personally i don't think the current PM undermines what Pt Nehru did. For all u know he may personally hold him very high. But his current position needs him to bash his predecessor to build support for his party specially in the hinterlands. India is very vast and diverse. For many it makes us so uneasy to be able to identify with this embarrassing facets of current India.

What a grand, what a lavish reception the Americans gave to Prime Minister Nehru and Mrs. Indira Gandhi. Both the PM and his daughter looked so classy, dignified and good looking. And Mr. Nehru spoke so well. This shows that education and breeding are of great importance indeed for a Prime Minister of any country.

Thank you for posting a rare video from archives, otherwise we would have missed this. Humbleness and dignity were the order of life of such heads of Government of world's largest democracies. Its unfortunate that some members are making comments on the attire, looks and character. This is because they don't know the social, economic and other circumstances existing those days. As one friend mentioned most of such members have not even borne at at time and are,being carried away by the lies and inappropriate things being circulated wantonly to defame our great leaders of the past. They were not politicians, they were not heads of governments, but they are real statesmen. The country has been built on the very foundation laid by those leaders. 🎉

He was not willing to advancement of our defense forces. It's a written history. Our soldiers were brave enough but without sophisticated weapons and even without winter jackets and shoes. They had mostly only 303 rifels. Most of the chines troops were members of Chinese communist Red Army. Nehru ji underestimated threat from neighbors that's why whole nation paid the price.

India at the time of Independence had nothing. 70% of the people were in poverty. You think it was a good idea for a poor nation with zero infrastructure (hospitals, schools, universities, research centres) to invest money on advanced army equipments when 70% of it's people don't even have food and suffering from Malnutrition? He chose to invest in people of India who were suffering from poverty and illiteracy rather than the defence of the nation. Is that a crime? And his investments on the infrastructure and people is the reason our economy is booming today if he had invested in army in early days rather than infrastructure there would be no difference between us and Pakistan today as Pakistan did exactly that.

Between 1947 and 1960, Nehru'/country's priority was doing everything for self-sufficiency in food production...Owing to the efforts of Nehru and Indira Gandhi, India became self-sufficient in food production in the early 1970s, thereby preventing starvation deaths of millions...Nehru and Krishna Menon began modernising India's defence but China, at the instance of the then Soviet Union, attacked India in 1962...But for the efforts of Nehru and Krishna Menon, India could not have defeated Pakistan soundly in 1965, 1971, or 1999...Our beloved country is almost a superpower now, and we owe it all to the efforts of Pandit Nehru....Jai Nehru Ji, Jai Indira Ji, Jai Rajiv Ji, Jai Sonia Ji, Jai Rahul Ji, Jai Congress, Jai Bharat.

US was & is never friendly with India. During the tenure of following US Presidents we had wars with our neighbors Harry Truman : 1947/ 48 Pak war John F Kennedy : 1962 China Lyndon Johnson : 1965 Pak war Richard Nixon : 1971 Pak war Bill Clinton : 1999 Kargil war None of the above US Presidents came to India's help. They used our country only as market for their products. In 1971 indo Pak war Richard Nixon teamed up with UK , all Gulf countries and even asked China to join against India. Only USSR helped us .
The History shows US has supported Pakistan during India pak war in 70's .... Nothing was in good terms with India and US, till China became a rival with US. (Enemies enemy is my friend concept). Hopefully there could be a better understanding.

The greatest dichotomy is USA dropped the only 2 nuclear bombs in its arsenal at that time in 1945 on Japan, yet America-Japan friendship and trust is most notable and praiseworthy even today. Can you imagine if this happened to India, would India have ever forgiven USA or continued the bond of friendship with USA ?? India is unable to patch up with China or Pakistan. If USA or Russia had a border with India, India would have problem with them too. The fact is India is unable to get along well with any of its neighbors. SAARC has sunk in the Indian Ocean, while ASEAN has gone from strength-to-strength.

The grace and sincerity reflected by President Kennedy through his mannerisms for Pandit Nehru was so genuine and remarkable. It’s out of the world now. And both these leaders didn’t live long after this historic meeting of theirs in Nov-1961. RIP, both of them.

India's 1st Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehruji visit to USA during early 60s and meeting with one of most iconic American Presidents John F Kennedy is a historic moment.This is one of rare occasions where we get to see a colored video of Nehruji and this was one of those rare occasions where a video of Panditji and his daughter Indira Gandhiji (who became India's 1st lady Prime Minister) together.
What is more impressive was that this was actually his third visit to the US and not his first and even then the public treated it as a first visit. People of all races - young and old stood waiting at the airport to see him and cheer him. It is a sign of great respect and excellent manners - at least that is how I saw it.

The respect and admiration in USA and the world towards Pandit Nehru was for the individual. India in 1960’s was not what India is today. It was hardly 10 to 15 years after India became a republic and was not economically or otherwise a powerhouse. Pandit Nehru’s charm and personality is unmatched. The critics of Nehru today completely ignore the ground realities that prevailed then. Nehruji’s policies, were shaped considering what was good for the country based on where India stood then. Some of his policies did go wrong, but that is in hindsight. The faults in his decisions were more on account of the fact that he was a gentleman and expected the leaders elsewhere were also like him. But the world leaders, especially China, Pakistan etc were of different mindset which he failed to realise, more because Nehru was not cunning. His economic policies were also based on the fact that India then was poor and had little resources. The present day industry tycoons were not there and their presence was less noticeable. So, the Government had to step in with planned economy model. Nowhere in the world, except in Banana republics, the present leaders find fault with their predecessors like it is being propagated in India.
Of course! It is not to be taken as a blame on Mr. Nehru. It is the progress India has made since that time! There is no doubt that to day we have clearly shifted from one of a poor nation to a powerful one! It is made evident by the words and action of the present PM, Mr. Modi! Unfortunately we still try to belittle one or the other!
I will say that PM Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Rajeev Gandhi did handle the situations and economical models that were the best options during those times, considering lack of our industrial support from private enterprise. Please keep in mind, Rajeev Gandhi was the one who opened up the multinational companies to setup their operations during this PM years. That opened up jobs and access for an average person in india to leap into the technology.
A leader's first and foremost duty is towards his country - the people who elected him/her. The leaders of China/Pakistan did what they did to safeguard their country. PM Nehru or rather the officers advising him should have anticipated that. The current leadership's focus appears to be to build support for their party with the masses that are not very educated. The easiest way to spoon feed loyalty to a party is to bash the opponent I guess. So personally i don't think the current PM undermines what Pt Nehru did. For all u know he may personally hold him very high. But his current position needs him to bash his predecessor to build support for his party specially in the hinterlands. India is very vast and diverse. For many it makes us so uneasy to be able to identify with this embarrassing facets of current India.
& those goons r making an effort to criticise him who are known not for real development but Destruction of Peace,Humanity,Freedom & Love.

Thank you for posting a rare video from archives, otherwise we would have missed this. Humbleness and dignity were the order of life of such heads of Government of world's largest democracies. Its unfortunate that some members are making comments on the attire, looks and character. This is because they don't know the social, economic and other circumstances existing those days. As one friend mentioned most of such members have not even borne at at time and are,being carried away by the lies and inappropriate things being circulated wantonly to defame our great leaders of the past. They were not politicians, they were not heads of governments, but they are real statesmen. The country has been built on the very foundation laid by those leaders. 🎉

He was not willing to advancement of our defense forces. It's a written history. Our soldiers were brave enough but without sophisticated weapons and even without winter jackets and shoes. They had mostly only 303 rifels. Most of the chines troops were members of Chinese communist Red Army. Nehru ji underestimated threat from neighbors that's why whole nation paid the price.

India at the time of Independence had nothing. 70% of the people were in poverty. You think it was a good idea for a poor nation with zero infrastructure (hospitals, schools, universities, research centres) to invest money on advanced army equipments when 70% of it's people don't even have food and suffering from Malnutrition? He chose to invest in people of India who were suffering from poverty and illiteracy rather than the defence of the nation. Is that a crime? And his investments on the infrastructure and people is the reason our economy is booming today if he had invested in army in early days rather than infrastructure there would be no difference between us and Pakistan today as Pakistan did exactly that.

Nehru is the main reason of many current problems like Indo China problem ,accession of Tibbet by China, Problem of Kasmir, Accession of Baluchistan by Pakistan, Problem of Manipur even etc. Go and research over it that why I am saying so. And think twice before saying anything without knowing him in details.

US was & is never friendly with India. During the tenure of following US Presidents we had wars with our neighbors
Harry Truman : 1947/ 48 Pak war
John F Kennedy : 1962 China
Lyndon Johnson : 1965 Pak war
Richard Nixon : 1971 Pak war
Bill Clinton : 1999 Kargil war
None of the above US Presidents came to India's help. They used our country only as market for their products.
In 1971 indo Pak war Richard Nixon teamed up with UK , all Gulf countries and even asked China to join against India.
Only USSR helped us .
Kennedy was assassinated in 1963. But his Ambassador to India Kenneth Galbraith gifted India IBM Computers to be installed in IIT Kanpur.
The History shows US has supported Pakistan during India pak war in 70's .... Nothing was in good terms with India and US, till China became a rival with US. (Enemies enemy is my friend concept). Hopefully there could be a better understanding.

The greatest dichotomy is USA dropped the only 2 nuclear bombs in its arsenal at that time in 1945 on Japan, yet America-Japan friendship and trust is most notable and praiseworthy even today.
Can you imagine if this happened to India, would India have ever forgiven USA or continued the bond of friendship with USA ??
India is unable to patch up with China or Pakistan.
If USA or Russia had a border with India, India would have problem with them too. The fact is India is unable to get along well with any of its neighbors. SAARC has sunk in the Indian Ocean, while ASEAN has gone from strength-to-strength.

Nehru's this visit should pride Indians for the well deserved honour received from American public in general and President Kennedy in particular. Alas! we were in great depression when both these leaders departed from the world too soon after this historical visit. We remember both with great respect.
