I watched OLTL since early 70s; this storyline was amazing. NOwadays, baby switches are run of the mill plot devices. This one had incredible power, because we cared about the characters. I still cry when I watch this.
God, this was so sad... and they whole truth took over two years to unfold! Brynn Thayer and Nancy Snyder were subtle, yet beautiful in their performance, nothing over the top. And I loved Robin Strasser and Margaret Klenck as the antagonistic friends Dorian and Edwina respectively. Two bad "ONE LIFE" shown here as a "Daytime to Remember" only got two weeks of memories - if I recall they weren't going to get any, but ABC changed their minds and made it happen, sandwiched in between three weeks of "ALL MY CHILDREN" and I think three weeks (if not four) of "GENERAL HOSPITAL"... Thank you again!
And I actually got to meet Brynn Thayer and some others at a few fan club gatherings in New York in the early 80s. Brynn Thayer was an absolute sweetheart. So friendly and warm.....just a wonderful person.
@@1990758 No, but I would love to. The whole set up was great, because you knew the moment Marco and Karen switched the babies, it would be found out. And when it was found out, even though Marco and Karen's rationale was totally understandable, there would be anger and sadness felt by Jenny towards them, until she realized they tried to spare her grief. Luckily, Jenny's relationship with Kat was a positive one - from the moment Jenny learned Kat lost her baby, she offered to let her be Mary's babysitter, so it was natural that Kat would allow Jenny to always be a part of Mary's life - good writing.
I wish they would have introduced Susan Haskell as Mary back in the early 90's, she would have been age appropriate since they rapidly aged Kevin, Joey and Jessica... They could have kept the same storyline just jettisoned the whole "lonely, rich girl" character.
@@snowhiteo I was excited and remembered when she mentioned her real name as being Kristine Karr that the possibility of Nancy Snyder returning wouldn't be too far behind.
It took 3 years for the babyswitch to come out ?? Wow. So gabrielle switching the babys only lasted 3/4 months. Gabby was sentenced to 10 years for that ( but went to a halfway house instead & then got pardoned for busting the black market baby ring ) tina got 6 months for just overhearing about it. How did karen & Marco not get like 25 years? I read this is 82 & Marco shows back up in 89. Also I agreed w/ max when he was yelling 10 yrs was too much. The baby was gone for only 4 months & gabrielle came forward so little Steven was so young he wasnt attached to Micheal he would not remember he was ever switched. Nothing bad happened to him either. Poor mary is 3 & certainly is attached to jenny & will probably remember this. Wasnt Katrina going to give her baby up for adoption ? So I think I get why Karen thought it was a good idea at the time but the pain was greater for jenny instead of finding out right after the baby died rather than 3 years of mothering her. So sad. Also in my 30th anniversary oltl book I got I read that brad raped Karen. How did he get away w/ that ?
Hi Natalie, re: the fallout from the babyswitch, I feel like it might have come down to pressing charges - I think Michael pressed charges against Gabrielle, but Jenny did not against Karen (her sister) and Marco. However, in the latter baby switch story, Dorian did lead a crusade against Larry and Llanview Hospital for being negligent - I think as Herb said to Kat so she could get back in power at the hospital (and probably revenge on the hospital board for them firing her seven years back). Also, re: Brad raping Karen. That did happen, and I think I read that when both Larry and Marco found out at different times, they beat him really good. He went to jail for a time, and during his prison stay it was "inferred" that a male convict made him "less of a man" - so her in turn got raped. I think it was during Brad's rape of Karen and learning of his infidelity that Jenny went into premature labor.
@@erikandrus4387 I know. I was about 11 when I started watching her and one of the reasons I really liked her as I thought it was cool that they had someone with my name on that show. She was one of the best characters. I’m embarrassed to admit this, and I was then, but when I saw that she died, I actually cried all night. I was only 12, what can I say.
Uhhh Katrina was giving up her baby so why should she get to have the child back? I'm so confused 😂 Soaps really are a roller coaster. I wouldn't give her back believe me! Especially when she didn't want her in the first place.
This was definitely One Life to Live back in it's heyday. Good stories and great acting.

Two wonderful actors! Great writing. Miss this type of storytelling!
Brynn should I won an Emmy for this performance!
Wow! So powerful!! Katrina and Jenny were amazing without being typical soap opera.
This was when I first started watching OLTL. This story hooked me
I remember coming home every lunch period in high school to watch OLTL-an amazing storyline!!
Aired on ABC daytime Friday, August 13, 1982.

OLTL was so good...This was before soaps became some what campy..
Yes❤
I just noticed it, but Brynn Thayer and Judith Light LOOKED like sisters. Great casting!

Yes !!! I remember that......that OLTL got less weeks than the other two. At the time, I remember feeling cheated !! Haha.
Have you seen any episodes when the truth finally came out.
Yes.....I saw them all when they originally aired. I wish I had more on tape.

80s OLTL with 90s commercials.
I always liked Brynn Thayer. I understand that she and Judith Light (Karen) are still tight in real life.
I heard in 2011 they wanted to make Aubrey the daughter of Katrina Karr.
Yes it was happening but the show ended😿 That would have been awesome to see the story unfold of Mary back in Llanview after all those years 😻

I wonder how this all played out with Mary? Poor thing!
Bryan Thayer played a good part on that episode
Was,that kid talking? Boy she was smart.
She was three I believe, and so yes, three year olds are pretty verbal :)
Jenny’s death was always odd. Body missing in an avalanche?
Do you have any episodes with Olympia Buchanan in them? I loved her.
Unfortunately, I don't. I sure wish I did.
I loved her too - and incidentally, she went by the sobriquet Nicole Bonnard. A very tragic character for the year or two she was on.
PS I don't know how they redeemed Asa after what he did to Olympia, over one affair - when he made adultery literally a career!

Jenny made the better mother.😢
Why did she rip her away from Jenny? Qutrina had the baby signed up to be adopted from the hospital as a newborn.

Wasn’t Brad the father of both Jenny and Katrina’s babies?
Do you still have Karen's final episode
Yes......they'll be coming within a week. The upload times just take so long.

I couldn't stand jenny rinaldi
