Been with Papa John's for 7 years, can guarantee that we slap our dough as the orders come in. Even if we premake or pre slap doughs we have a limited time to have it ready. 30 minutes max for a slapped skin, 15 minutes max for a dough that has toppings on it, Also our dough has to be within a certain date and temperature range, I take pride in what i make, scored a 9.05/10 last week from a corporate inspection if that tells you how much i pride myself
I would have to say I work there they're dough is not made fresh every day but it is fresh always it is kept in the walk-in fridge and delivered 2 to 3 times a week depending on your store volume by Papa John's Factory themselves
that's hilarious how he thought the pepperchini was a jalapeno, and even more hilarious that he thought it was hot. I'm pretty sure black pepper has more spice to it than a pepperchini
The dough is made at the company's commissary(depending on location) balled into trays and shipped via tractor trailer(above freezing temperature, hence never frozen). once at the store there are specific handling procedures to ensure top quality. and yes.....those little peppers are called pepperoncinis. (Asst. Manager)
Papa Johns is one of the best chains around this area. I like the sweeter sauce, but can't do that fungus LOL :) sausage, pepperoni and green pepper is my favorite. And the crust dipped in the garlic sauce is the bomb! Thanks for another great review that has me wanting pizza at 9:30 AM :)
In America papa johns has deals where their specialty pizzas are 50% off a few times every week when you order online, so that's $9, though last year it was $8. The works pizza when on sale for $9 is awesome for the price.
As usual another great video! I'm glad you enjoyed the Papa John's Pizza! I wish it was that good here in the states, lol. Thank you for putting two of my comments in your video very nice of you! :D
I've worked at a Papa John's for the past (going on) seven years. That is correct, absolutely nothing is frozen, dough is shipped in every two days, and stored in a walk in cooler until used. Then left out to proof to the right temperature and is hand slapped, made to order. The crust is one of the best parts, in my experienced opinion. And the pepperoncinis aren't THAT hot, c'mon!
I know it's been 2 years but here we go. I'm currently in college and i'm a shift leader at papa johns. Our dough is never frozen. We receive dough into our store twice a week, and it spends two days proofing to the proper size. We round our dough into pizzas every time we receive an order. Papa Johns is very good about practicing what they preach. We keep fresh ingredients in the store, and are very meticulous about dating and removing old product. The attention we put into our crust on our pizza alone would drive most people crazy. We are often graded on how well our pizza looks based upon a 10 point scale. We also hold pizza games in Florida each year where the best Papa John's crews compete for a large cash prize.
I always get pepperoni and canadian bacon on my Papa John's pizza. I hate mushrooms though. I have to say the current special double cheeseburger pizza they have is actually surprisingly good...it isn't their usual sauce it's like ketchup, mustard, relish ect. mixed up. You really should try it before March when the special changes and it's gone, Ken!
I work at papa johns currently and everything is true on the poster! Everything is fresh, the dough comes once or twice a weak delivering dough that gets proofed where we eventually hand toss it, every single pizza is hand made. Even the vegetables are cut fresh in store! Garlic cup was my favortie thing about Papa Johns and ive worked there for a long time now and still havnt gotten tired of their pizza
Canadian bacon is nothing like American bacon. Different sections, preparation. …and that was a pepperoncini pepper, not jalapeño. And they’re very mild. Canadian in America is Canadian bacon and pineapple.
They do indeed make their dough fresh every day. I remember working there and once in a while they would guess how many pizza crusts to make for the day and make the crusts and any we had left over (usually 1 or 2) went to the employees. Yum!
Papa John's Pizza is quite near my university. I've tried it for the first time, I remember, like ten years ago when all my team was finishing an art project in Saturday. I was surprised of the quality of its ingredients comparing it to Domino's and Pizza Hut. It deserves a better advertising campaign, because it didn't grow from that time to nowadays.
I love Papa John's Pizza..have you tried their garlic bread sticks or garlic knots. If you like their crust..you'll like their garlic bread. Do you stuffed crust pizza? I don't. I miss thick crust..thick, crispy and airy..I get and recommen: BBQ sauce, grill chicken,🍍 pineapple and 🥓 bacon..you won't be disappointed!! Now, you're making me want 🍕 pizza!!👌 :)
I work at Pizza Hut and I will let you know that the dough is brought in frozen. Since I do the cooking and preparations for the next day, I have to put the dough in pans and trays with oil and dough release spray. In the mornings, we put the dough in a warming fridge to rise the dough. I must say. Everything is fresh, including the meats and everything is kept at the right temperature.
Your a lucky dog because there used to be a Papa John's here back when I was a youngster... god I loved their pizza with garlic butter sauce!!! Now-a-days, pizza hut and others have to do except for a town centric pizzeria called Sparky's which is our high school's mascot. They used to be called Michael's Pizza until they sold their recipe or something.
I used to work at a Dominoes in The States, and the dough of the original pizza was already made and frozen. That dough is used to make the breadsticks, cheesy bread, and the cinnastix. I've only had Papa John's once about 9 years ago, so I can't compare the two.
When I watch your videos I always think about putting myself in your place eating all delicious food and I think about at 2 am man I am still hungry that time even when i am watching your videos man am I starving
If you decide to do another papa johns review anytime soon I would definitely recommend the Tuscan 6 cheese pizza its amazing and I feel like you would really love it. Also great job as always on the video man!
"That's a nice touch, though!" LOL As long as the Jalapeño adds something to the pizza, It doesn't matter if the tongue burns or not. LOLOL Great video, Ken! Subbed & liked! :D
Papa John's is my favorite pizza! It is delicious I give it 1 million stars on how great it is! The Garlic Sauce is delicious to dip the pizza in; I didn't notice if it was sweet or not I will try and pay attention on July 25th my next time I am going to have it!
I love Papa John's Pizza. The sauce is sometimes closer to sweet, sometimes closer to tangy and sometimes both at once. Did you dip the crust in the garlic sauce (which is garlic butter)? It makes it quite a bit like Crazy Bread from Little Caesar's!
Over here in Ireland all the Pappa Johns are attached to an Irish fast food place called Supermacs which is probably my favorite fast food place..! I always get the garlic sauce with my pizza it makes it so much better :D
Had it in Cancun Mexico when I went to vacation their, it was great. Never knew it was in Canada until now. Unfortunately the closest one to me is in Toronto which is far for me.
Hi Ken! Old reply, but FYI that is a banana pepper (Pepperoncini is a brand name there of) & it is a sweet Italian pepper, and generally MUCH less spicy than a Jalepeño (hal-a-pen-yo, the ñ or Enye makes a 'ny' sound. Hal-a-peen-yo is also correct just heavily Anglo-American). Keep up the good work!
im a driver for papa johns in the uk, our dough is fresh everyday we like to keep all our ingredients fresh. all our vegitable is cut and prepared everyday.
KILLER TIP GUYS!!! Order your regular crust a little thinner than usual (not their pre-made thin crust) and have it baked 1 1/2 times. You will thank me. If you do take out, take the garlic butter out and keep it cool. You will see why.....
the manager on duty threw your pizza together, and you must have come in at a good time because he told you it would take ten minutes. You were dealing with a seasoned vet inside that store. Dude memorized how to slap that pizza together because it was a specialty item for the time, and he knew it would take 7-8 minutes for that pizza to roll through the oven. 2-3 minutes to put toppings on a pizza is damned impressive considering all the diversions that can occur while working in a pizza joint. I'd go back in that store and give that dude a tip despite them not being a driver or anything, just because they are O.G. about it.
Oh God ... why I'm watching this at 2:00 am , I'm starving right now thanks to Ken :-P Amm, the garlic sauce is a nice touch to dip ur crust into it .. it would be more delicious .. too bad u didnt :'( Anyways thanks for eating those three slices of PIZZA "just for me" :-P
I use to like Papa John's when I was a kid but now my taste buds have changed. Where I live we have a good pizza place called Sal's Pizza and its waaaay better than any Papa John's pizza we have around here.
Dough is usually made the night before, you need time to let the dough rise. Usually two hours is needed. So it is quite possible to be made that day. Plus sooo glad I down loaded the scratch and sniff! Way better!
That pizza looks great, wish we had a Papa John's around here to try. Apparently they always give you a pepperoncini, it's kind of their trademark thing.
I would love to have bacon on a pizza but in the UK, crispy bacon ia an alien concept. All catering astablishments under cook bacon. I'm not sure if I'm the only one but I find the rind of the bacon inedible if it's not crispy. Wish this country would cook it properly like the rest of the world. Lol!
I do work for papa johns we make our dough all day long. The dough is fresh never frozen. Out of the whole store we spend most of our money on dough and our cheese :) I'm glad you enjoyed try our new ultimate meat pizza. I would love to hear your review:)
Your channel and reviews rock!

I don't know what it is, but your videos relax me, and I take my mind off things. Good work, keep them coming!
Im from Louisville, Kentucky where Papa Johns started. Everyone i know smothers the whole top of the pizza in the garlic sauce and let it soak in lol
i do that lol
Do the garlic sauce trust me u will love it
I hate papa John's pizza but that sauce slaps
that's hilarious how he thought the pepperchini was a jalapeno, and even more hilarious that he thought it was hot. I'm pretty sure black pepper has more spice to it than a pepperchini
Lolol yup
**pepperoncini
A pepperoncini definitely has more heat than black pepper what are you talking about lol

I agree! They do have a little tiny kick to them I still like them tho

Ken, the way you review these fast food joints... If you took a trip to Europe to test the different cuisines you would lose your mind.
I know it's been 2 years but here we go.

The garlic dipping sauce is the bomb!!! Hopefully you gave it a try.
No Papa John's near here! Was going to say it would have been good to see you rush back in for the bill but it came up on the out takes! Great!
if u order a large pizza at little sesers it's about 5.00$ to 6.00$ also they don't charge more if u get it delivered.
At dominos you can get a large 3 topper for 8.00 $ monday thru thursday
Oh God ... why I'm watching this at 2:00 am , I'm starving right now thanks to Ken :-P
Amm, the garlic sauce is a nice touch to dip ur crust into it .. it would be more delicious .. too bad u didnt :'(
Anyways thanks for eating those three slices of PIZZA "just for me" :-P
I use to like Papa John's when I was a kid but now my taste buds have changed. Where I live we have a good pizza place called Sal's Pizza and its waaaay better than any Papa John's pizza we have around here.
Youre my fav youtuber Kem !
Minimum wage in NZ is $13:50. Also a can of coke is about $1:50 maybe near on $2 sometimes. Love your channel!!
Thanks for sharing that awesome information :D
Ken
Papa John makes the best fast food pizza. Love their unique dough and sweet tomato sauce, and also the pepperoncini.
I can get a large 16" cheese pizza from an Italian place up the street for $7.99.
$15 seems like a lot, especially for a chain pizza.
Where do you live?
Southern New Jersey. Most places around here are 9.99 for a large with no toppings.
I think it is in Canadian Dollars which are worth less
Dough is usually made the night before, you need time to let the dough rise. Usually two hours is needed. So it is quite possible to be made that day. Plus sooo glad I down loaded the scratch and sniff! Way better!
That pizza looks great, wish we had a Papa John's around here to try. Apparently they always give you a pepperoncini, it's kind of their trademark thing.
Did anybody else catch the spit or food or whatever fly out at around the 2:32 mark?
You need to dip the crust in the garlic sauce!!! Man it's gorgeous!
Its not a jalapeno, its a pepperonchinni, you can squeeze the juice from the pepper onto your pizza and it'll be like hot sauce.
WHAT? $1.25 for a can of Pepsi? Where I live it's about $0.5.
This comment did NOT age well. Reporting in 2024 to say $1.25 is CHEAP today.
i always have a jar of pepperoncini peppers in my fridge yummmm i love them
HOLY SHMOKES! That's £6.52 in the UK. Holy mother of heavenly mozzarella!
Is that considered cheap or expensive by UK standards? :)
Cheap. Way cheap. You'll end up paying around £16 on a 14" Papa Johns Pizza int he UK. That's about $26! :O
Yeah, its funny to think if we bought a pizza this size from dominos over here, we would be paying the equivalent of 28 canadian dollars for it.
TheChunkeyNinja here in dominos and pizza hut you pay the equivalent of $20 USD for 2 yes you heard me 2 14" pizzas
in indonesia it's 4.5 britpounds for pizzas much larger than that
Awesome video, awesome pizza Ken! Staaaarviiiing! ...again... XD
:D
I would love to have bacon on a pizza but in the UK, crispy bacon ia an alien concept. All catering astablishments under cook bacon. I like to dip the crust of the pizza into the garlic sauce to turn it into a type of garlic bread
in nz u can get a large and a coke for $6.80

You should try their garlic Parmesan bread sticks....sooo good
