As far of Jesus calling a 12 year old a little girl it depends on the translation, for example The KJV uses the word damsel which means a young woman of marriageable age. Mark 5:41 King James Version And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise. The word damsel here is being translated from the Greek word korasion which according to Google can mean a girl, damsel, maiden

God also made a one wife for one man rule by instituting marriage which even several major biblical characters broke and sinned. I have always taken the ages, by the standards of the past. Namely that a man to be accepted for a marriage would be at the journeyman status of a trade, which was around late teens to mid twenties. A girl would be considered of age around mid to late teens as she must be considered grown enough to handle household issues. Remember that in the Bible, the wife runs the home while the husband is out earning money. She could not be a mere child and do this with any true capability. So like as not Joseph was 19 to 23, and Mary was 16 to 19. Very close in mental age and physical age. It is silly to assume she was barely flowered at 11 to 12 and married off to a man 60 to 100. Like most of the Apocryphal notions, this was written as religious fanfiction that tries to shoehorn in unbiblical traditions for a confused audience.

I heard that Joseph was really old hunchback wrinkly and frail. He was crusty with a foul odor on his breath. He also walked with a walking stick. Mary was 12 and very virginal. Beautiful young glowing skin and a vibrant spirit. An odd couple. Yet they went on to have children later on after Jesus.
