- Rimac don't do things the boring way, the Concept One being quite clear evidence of that! With over 1,200 electric horsepower and 1,600Nm running through separate motors on each corner to allow complete torque vectoring control, it gets to 62mph in just 2.5 seconds - in silence...
With a distinct design, the Concept One represents an example of the technology Rimac are creating. As a technical partner for projects such as the Aston Martin Valkyrie and Koenigsegg Regera, you know immediately that they know how to do things. The Concept One is also particularly rare with only 8 built in total, each in different configurations.
For the run up the hill at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, I'm joining Rimac's development driver, Miro, to show us a bit more about it.

It's unbelievable that a car like this came out from my country, Croatia, considering we never produced cars before. But this car is absolutely amazing, Rimac did a great job!

Destroyed? Lol. Out of three races it beat the old Veyron once! And yes that was the only race they showed...
Well it did beat them, and the LaFerrari and Veyron were raced against a prototype. It's even quicker now. And then there is the Concept S which is about 200hp and 200Nm more powerful.

You wouldn't believe how hard I tried...
i think he says somewhere electric (motor) sound like a ufo... guessing electric motor plus bearings from the tires/tires surface sound.... could also hear air moving around...
The whirring UFO sound comes from the motors. There are four of them, and rev up to 12k RPM - electric supercars may sound quiet from the outside but believe me they are not silent.
It's worth noting that the Rimac does sound different to most electric cars because of 1) the gearbox, and 2) the chain drive. Yes you'll hear the motors, but that's a high pitch whirring. By contrast, the gearbox and chain drive have a lower note to them, and are louder (naturally - they've got more moving parts, are more complex, and lose some efficiency - which is converted to heat and noise - but the gains in performance from the versatility the gearbox brings makes that very worthwhile. It wouldn't be a hypercar without it.
+Matthew Ducker (xorxornop) I don't think the Concept One has a chain drive, that's the E-Runner Pikes Peak racer they developed with Tajima. *That* car sounds like an absolute monster.
The rear motor gearbox on the Concept One does do a lot for performance though.
I wish my wife was as quiet as this car.

Hi Tim,Good video as always! That's the truly "sound of silence"! jokes aside, that's the most stagering electric car I've ever seen ! I have been impressed most of all for the incredible seamlessly shove and the eeirly going on in total quite,the only noise was the rustle of the four electric motors!!

Thanks Tim for showing the extremes of electrical power in cars. I think only by experimenting can you exploit the full potential of both electric and petrol power to enable the best compromise to be made for the future. We have used Lexus hybrid cars (RX450h and GS300h) for a few years for airport transfers and it is quite eerie when on electrical power only. Looking forward to more innovative videos. Wow, this car's a rocket! I imagine the motor whine is like horror movie strings to match your terror as you're whipped around the track.
The Rimac Concept One is amazing it's so fast and having like 1,200 electric horsepower can make this car so fast! And I love the technology they got in there and it was a lot to take in! And I love the customizations they have if this is going to be a production car. Carbon Fiber in the interior and exterior and if anyone buys this they will love it a lot but it's really awesome

Tim, you are currently my favorite car youtuber. I can list a couple reasons why.
1.) you have a lot of fame on TH-cam (subscribers) yet you still don't change the way you act/content you deliver
2.) you don't create drama on TH-cam
3.) your content never gets boring
However, not every TH-cam channel is perfect, and there are some things I wish you can fix.
1.)Please change the intro
2.) please get a proper haircut (it bothers me as a fan of your channel to see your hair although no hate intended)

I'm not a fan of EV, especially Teslas but that Rimac definitely changed that, it looks really good and it seems to handle very well too.

All that momentum and kinetic energy while from the initial impact to the road beneath him onwards would've have caused the roof, a b and c pillars to come folding down on him and the fuel tank to have started a leak and caught flame while it was still rolling. Cos after all, Volvo's aren't made of carbon fibre, have a fuel tank and an ICE
Hammond is a Rimac Concept One KILLER!
The scene when driver Miro and the author Tim were passing silently in Rimac Concept One all the other noisy petrol supercars was the show of inevitability. Those petrol supercars looked so old, surely old-fashined if not already dead (yet, unknown to them, of course). Petrol supercars are gone. My prediction is that even F1 will have to adapt or die.
What I was thinking when he was driving by all other supercars was: you drive in silence, among all this beasts, and you are faster than any of them.
This car is not only super fast, it is absolutely stunning. It's more beautiful than all new Lamborghinis and Ferraris, just stop the video at 1:01 and look at it! Every part of the car looks smooth and makes sense, unlike new Centenario or Ferraris whose mirrors, doors, back, and all parts are weird as fuck.

So many automotive channels like Shmee's only talk about the superficial aspects of a car
They show the exterior, the power numbers, then spend the rest of the video on the screens and buttons in the car..
I want to know more about the engineering of it!
