@@holpcs2 Amen! We aren't perfect, but we try! All that we can do is comfort the ones that stay on the narrow narrow path. We celebrate and rejoice in each other's victories. I celebrate you. I don't know you, but, with my heart, I celebrate you! God bless you!
I am not a man who has taken religion but this song hit me for 6 the first time I heard this all those years ago. I would sing it to myself to help me through tough days. I was saddened to hear Harry Stewart (Sweet) had been struggling for years but I was heartened when he started his own TH-cam channel. I would love to meet him one day to thank him for bringing this song into my heart.
Mr Mike:Just read your comment after I had listened to the 2019 version and then the version from the movie. "Chills" is the word--exactly! Loved the movie as I do a lot of military/war themed movies. This one is special because of the song and that there is a MESSAGE in the movie, and I believe it's primarily that Charlie Sheen's character learns something about himself. Yes, back to your comment. I respect your opinion, so this is not a sermon. But I am compelled to say, as a suggestion, that God is speaking to you through this song. I confess that even as a Christian, I DO have trouble hearing & understanding what God is telling me. Maybe my faith isn't as great as it should be? And here's why I said I have trouble. This is the very short version: In 1978 My fiancee, the girl of my dreams broke it off with me. We should've been living our own version of Camelot NOW as I write this. INSTEAD, I in 1984, I win 2nd prize---I marry a woman who put me through a living hell for 31 years. She was unfaithful in more than one way and finally died from cancer/complications 5 years ago. It wasn't until AFTER she died that it finally dawned on me--that my "special mission" was/had been to be with her & support her for the last 31 years. And while you won't really want to hear this, I believe I finally heard and understood what God was saying. No burning bush, thunder & lightning, visions or anything. Just a rather calm, low key realization of the only possible reason for the 31 years. Just maybe you will smile when I say that now I "argue" with God about why my 2nd go around with that 1st fiancee has been going downhill for a while. I CANNOT fathom why we aren't together after 3 1/2 years. As I said I respect your opinion. There's a reason I came to this page--on the surface it's to listen to one bad-ass song--that's the easy part. Harder though is to decipher "why this page", why I read your comment, and why it tripped my trigger. I will say this w/o apology, nor to antagonize you: May God Bless You. Bye for now.
This song puts it all into words no matter who you are or what you believe. We all want just a little more time when the end finally does come. Such a beautiful song sung by a man who sings it from his soul. Fantastic.
evryone feels the same way i do this song touches evrytime i hear it this woke me up 1 day wen it was on tv beautiful song just aboslutely amazing makes me remeber all my loved ones who have moved on god bless their soul

scintillating - captures a powerful emotion deep within us, wrestling with all the others that complete our natures, may the more positive ones win. / Thank You Harry !
God bless Mr Stewart where ever you are, this song reminds me that there is more to life, and I would like to be in that place where God will say well done thou good an faithfull servant. Lord I will seek to serve you better, day by day
I'm not a believer, but this song is beautiful. I won't have a funeral or memorial. I've told my wife to just send this and another song to my friends.
the first time I saw this film I was expecting a film about Vietnam as thousands of flms but that's my stick on my seat and I could not take off my eyes from the screen, and this scene, especially if wanted but tears out so harry Stewart's voice is beautiful and wonderful song, a short film and especially recommend a great movie
I spoke (email chain) years ago to a NYPD officer who knew this very talented man. Veracity of info on the web being always in question this person said that he died penniless, and was unable to make it above and beyond this song and this movie. It is truly a loss for us, but the kingdom of heaven is heavy one more great soul. Justice will greet him there... possibly for the first time. RIP and thank you for this gift. I cannot hear this one without tears streaming down my cheeks.
I saw Harry Stewart TODAY - 1/23/12 - singing his own material and he sounds incredible. Have had the great privilege of knowing Harry since the 1980s and he is outstanding in every way. God bless !
Love this film. I’ve always wondered what Sweet did to end up in the stockade. He’s a quiet bible loving man. In real life, he’s a Gospel singer as well.
it really is a fabulous song....the lines, "Almighty God give me just a little more time To right all the wrong that I have done" gets me every time.....*sigh* Lord You know that I've been bad So there's no use in lying to myself Heavenly Father please forgive me I really don't want to disown myself

I've been looking for this song from this movie. I remember feeling very inspired when hearing it. It has touched me and the actor/singer sung it brilliantly. Thanks for posting
I have this song in MP3 format if you want it for your ipod. I found this song about 8 years ago on the internet. It's the actual recording off the movie at the end when they are running the credits. It's someone named Harry Stewart.
LOL sweet just dominates this group. It's like Larry Bird playing against high schoolers. I'm guessing this chaplain's group has never had a singer like Sweet before. Even the chaplain keeps looking at him like..holy shit.

If you can here that and not get religion you're dead inside
Complete honesty .
We try, but we never get there. Praise the Lord for the atonement of Jesus Christ, taking away the sins of man.
Amen! Thank you!
