Inside of the Robotaxis should be focused on durability and ease of cleaning. Easy to clean floors, dash, seats. As few nooks and crannies as possible. Tesla needs to plan on customers that don’t respect other people’s property and the occasional passenger throwing up.
Suicide doors are not scissors. They open like a normal door but the hinges are at the B pillar. So they open backwards.
Spot on I had a Vauxhal Wyvern with Suicide Doors. I remember my mate grabbing the passenger side door handle and opening it while I was zooming along at it's top speed of around 55mph for a bit of open door yahooing. BOOM, he was left holding the handle lol. If the handle had not come off I am sure he would have had a very sore arm or been out on the road for a nice slide. They were called that for good reason!
ALTERNATIVE EXPLANATION FOR THE SEAT DESIGN: Perhaps those 7 white cushions for the seat are 7 separately removable parts which can be easily clicked back in and out after unlocking. This would allow for very easy cleaning. In fact you would not have to clean in the car, you would replace those 7 cushions in less than 1 minute by clean ones. Then have some simple system clean the elements outside of the car and make them ready to be swapped in the next car that needs cleaning. Just thinking..
Elon has said model X wing doors were a nightmare and shouldn’t have done them
Good job tying the back door camera to the cybercab guys!
The problem with two screens, especially large screens, which would be very desirable, is they get in the way of the airbags. If the airbags could be deployed down from the ceiling between the screens and the passengers, it might work. However, if the passenger was leaning forward, it would be disaster.
Love the show, it is my belief that it will come online in August. I believe it will be in Austin. The reason for Austin is because the have a ton of data from there, since there are a lot of Teslas. Also to put 1000 Robo taxis on the road you will need about 85 fast speed chargers. Each car will get four thirty minute charging secessions per day.
The point Nico makes about the lease vehicles is mind-blowing. True Elon.
It seems to me that the camera mounted up high just behind the front door is there not so much for traffic, but to view/record the passengers approaching and getting into (and leaving) the robotaxi. If it was needed for traffic, it would already be in the other models. Perhaps the robotaxi will identify passengers based on their account picture and maybe approach them before unlocking the door. Maybe even open the door for them? It will also be necessary to record who gets in and how they get in in case they fall or if there is a problem such as an unauthorized person attempting to get in. Uber drivers confirm the client picture with their face before letting them in.
2 seater, if you need more order more taxis. Or this will also allow uber and lyft drivers to take up the slack.
I’m going to make a bold guess that Tesla will roll out two autonomous vehicles on 8/8. One will be a two seater the other will be a transport van 9-10 people.
Brilliant Hubert. So relevant.
Hubert is stirring it with the others. Interesting guys.
FSD is improving daily, it sees hand signals, potholes, isn't make stupid turns. Jeannine
The doors have to be able to easily close themselves, so the scissor door makes sense.
That door opening also makes it easier to quickly clean (hose down the inside??)
Robert Hirsch was right. The three does not have an unobstructed roof. Either they showed us the Juniper Y or the 4 seater robo taxi.
The higher side cameras also probably help with safety calculating from a higher vantage?
didn‘t see the doors till now. Swinging doors confirmed 👌
That nice white seat in the cybercab where there are multi folds maybe an upgraded seat that you can buy but not the included, standardized one.
Thanks for the discussion and wonderful panel. I would live to see James from IA on the show again.
Elon saying that putting out that information wasn't his doing, may be for legal reason. He has already been in trouble for releasing information through the wrong channels, that can be material to the stock price.
My thought.
On the materials of the cyber truck, based on other vehicles and materials.
The underbody will be aluminum. Castings with a giant plastic bumper assembly and trunk assembly, similar to existing plastic bumpers, and it will have a glass roof and 2 giant Stainless steel doors that cover the whole side of the Passenger cage.
That was not a 3 highland at the 5 sec mark, it had the full glass roof, c'mon guys! Brian you should have got that one LOL
chairs are for max confort, you can strech your legs just like you are sitting on your couch, they will most likely use the ex skelton to make it durable so they do not have to take out robotaxi out for body repairs as often. Make it safer and less law suits if there are accidents
Regarding the placement of the cameras. Did you notice on the model y the shape of the windows, including that little spot Where the camera would go on? The new car are nearly the same shape on the cyber taxi as on the model. Y. Could it be possible that they would use the same shape windows so as to increase Quantity of the same part?
Three wheels are really only practical in places that tax larger 4 wheel vehicles but not small motorcycles or three-wheel minicars. 3 wheelers are not as stable on highways and trunk space is funky.
I think back to how I safe trikes were and I have trouble believing they'd do a 3 wheel design. Maybe a 3 wheel Robotaxi exclusively for inner city driving.
Kinda hoped fit something a little more futuristic, being the cyber truck is so unique in design.
Robotaxi w/ massage chairs 🤯
Ooh.
Or nearly lie flat seats for longer rides?
Herbert wins the GOLDEN ticket! 👍
I am even mO interested in the breakdown of the cybercab dEn dA cyber truck - by Sandy!!!;)
Is a front splitter!
16:41 Three wheels.
Reduced cost because a fourth wheel part is no part.
Suicide doors opened backwards. In early days kids would pull the handle and the movement of the vehicle would swing the door open throwing with the kids still holding the handle throwing them out of the vehicle. Thus “ suicide”. All newer vehicles with doors it open backwards can only be opened after the front door holding them closed is opened.
Will be interesting to see if and win Optimus is used to clean and maintain cyber cab
How much range would a two-seater like this have?
I would imagine that it would be at least 250 miles.
Wayyy too in depth on the picture analysis. The original Franz design depicted, will be likely recognizable within the new car's design, (that's why they are showing it) but it will not be the same.
After watching countless hours the past 5 years of Rob maurer, dave lee, farzad, james douma, munro live etc. I truly appreciate Herbert Ong!
But not for the reason you think maybe. The bar is incredible high, so I dont mean to punch "down!" altough im lower haha!.
But Herbert feels more like a hype-man than a analyst.
I’m not sure the lease returns are the big deal you think it is. They can snap their fingers and buy up a bunch of their existing service loaners and also just purchase new cars from themselves (which would probably be the right move).
They’re not in a position where they need to “stock up” on a fleet.
Nick sets it straight for all those hopeless romantics that think Elon will not let us down for free 😂
It’ll be interesting to see what they end up doing for entertainment/screens. The concern with airbags is valid. If there are 2 screens, you’d have issues with airbag deployment. Part of me thinks there will only be one screen and maybe some kind of split screen media option.
It looks to me that the black bumper image is the front bumper which will also match the rear bumper. Similar to the Porsche 914. By law, cars need something soft that can absorb low-speed impacts. Cybertruck doesn't need them because trucks have an exemption. Normally you have a rounded color-matched bumper, but you can't do that with the cyber style. Delorean tried matching the stainless with silver-colored plastic, but it didn't look right. The goal in a taxi is to be cheap and practical, not super stylish to show off. Indeed, there may be an optional 2 sided display screen on the roof for advertising. If people don't have to drive, they will be bored and possibly looking out the windows. I would pay extra to not have advertising displayed on the internal screen in front of me.
19:28 There is no way in hell they are using the Cybertruck platform as you have suggested in the past, Herbert. This needs to be cheap, light, and they need to crank out millions of them.
I think Connecting the Dots’ suggestion makes more sense. They will use molded colored plastic for the outer shell, so they can eliminate the paint shop.
21:51 Google has 3D map data, and Tesla is already using Google for navigation.
Doors? The best part is no part😂
car will look like a Dolphin with wheels. Air will flow with little resistance
A swimming dolphin or a BYD dolphin?
My car on V12.3.6 has done an unprotected U-turn; it did it on its own, and I did not force it.
Starting logic is probably better to start from the human element, the most certain. Then seats and dashboard (which needs to house airbags (like the passenger side), ventilation, no glove box, which makes the dashboard protrusion make sense. There may also be room for a desk/tray. With no roof rack, scissor doors make sense and may make repair from damage easier as well. Should be a super roomy arm reach and leg room as a two seater and no steering wheel. Bench seat may allow a small third person? Lack of driver, occupants would also have great visibility/distraction because they will only be passengers, but these could be used for tourism. The side cameras would be the highest visibility, maybe the rear?
There will absolutely be a 4 seat version! 😊🙏
nothing on the vote in Canada TD bank
Its guna be Lamborghini doors 100%, you guys have missed so many images showing that style door. It's not falcon wings.
I have (besides my Tesla) an EV with “suicide doors” and when I cleaned it, I hose it inside and outside. It’s now 12 years old… Guess what car I have???
It looks like a fish to me. What wing door?
I voted TESLA/ELON in that order
I agree with the title of this video, Tesla is dropping!
IT"s my baby too
3 wheels
Model 3 coupe = cybercab
I think on 8/8 they will drive folks home from the event🎉
nvidea is up 1600% in the past 5 years ? go tesla go 😀
Lol, TSLA up 1266% in 5 years as of today.
@@jwlafferty i read it was only 800% ?
If FSD is real and the $25 k car is utility based, why would a steering wheel be needed?
Why is a special vehicle needed for Robotaxi? 1. If I hire a taxi, do I care if the vehicle has a futuristic look - no. 2. Tesla has tons of Model Y and Model X's (Model 3 is probably too small). Why not use those vehicles. (add front cameras and HiDef Radar) 3. Tesla needs new vehicles for car buyers. The S,X,3 and Y are getting old (even with refreshes).
They don’t. Every Tesla car can be a robotaxi.
Lamborghini Countach
The best wheels are no wheels. It will have 3 wheels.
Looks like the seating position is not suitable for elderly people or people who are limited in mobility for some reason. IMO it should be more like a coach seat or something where it's easy to step in and out (more elevated) and have a more chair-like seating position. From talking to many car users that's nearly always the main reason why the suv body type is preferred.
I'm wondering if that's the back window? Safer to sit backwards? Less anxiety for the passenger? I think I'd like to see ahead, but why? I'm sure I'm wrong.
@@middle-agedmacdonald2965 I can't imagine that they pur the seats faxing backwards. Lots of people get sick when driving backwards.
There definitely will not be model X gull wing doors. Elon had talked in the past how expensive they are, hard to design and manufacture. And terrible for scale. That would be the Ultimate dumb thing to do for a high Volume vehicle
I bet what you are seeing in 90% accurate to the final product. Most people do not read the Elon book or slow videos like this. This is a cybercab to me.
Nick gave that absolute worst example.... The chances that you are going to paint my house well in 30min is 0. So the effort does counts. If what you said was true then Elon did not need to sleep at the factory to get the Model 3 out, but he did.
Tesla could be his baby.... DNA check?
Fsd not perfect at least another 5 years.
Can sometime drop the time stamp where they talk about the elephant in the room? Nvidia coming over to Tesla’s FSD neighborhood and eating their lunch. I mean… gotta talk about it. FSD is a side project for Nvidia and FSD is everything to Tesla. FSD is how Tesla will get their margins back. Elon said it himself. Tesla looking really… really expensive right around now.
Even if Elon decided he will not leave if his comp plan isn't approved, he can't say or even hint that. Otherwise, people will vote not to approve it. Obviously people are greedy and short sided and figure if they don't pay Elon, it means the value of their shares is retained by the big cost savings in payroll. He has to threaten to leave. All employees must threaten to leave in order to be paid what they are worth.
I’m worried about this vote more than anything. If Elon doesn’t get the comp package, he could take all the talent, sell all his shares, and restart everything at X Ai company. Am I not the only one in this boat because of stupid stock holders?
The board should have a new pay package ready to put up for a vote, if the current vote fails.
@@darylfoster7944 true. Then we still have to deal with Delaware. Thinking they are Robinhood.
Imagine a family of 3-4 attempting to hail a Tesla Robotaxi for a trip to the ballpark or the movies! At least a minimum of 4 seats should be provided! Of course a two seater would be ideal for dating!
The back area can have two fold down seats or for luggage. If you need more room, then you can hail a Y or 3.
It's called a scissor door.
It does not make any sense to make the Robotaxi a two person car. The roadster is a four seater and the Taxi is a two seater? Elon has this one backwards, just like firing the Supercharger Department.
You should really stop pumping the stock due to FSD progress. The FSD Tracker shows 12.3.6 as 135 miles driven to Critical Disengagements in the city. In order for that number to be 10x safer than humans, that number should be 5,000,000 miles since the average accident rate for humans is 500,000 miles. There is still a very long way to go.
Even with 12.4 being 10 times better, it's not even close. I hope they succeed, however Elon has been promising FSD completion by years end for the last eight years. Quite frankly I have stopped believing Elon.
Keep drumming up $TSLA and continue to sell hopium. I am off to my $NVDA holiday.

Common sense a taxi should be at lease a comfortable four-seater passenger car. But I guess Tesla is going to make a two-seater clown car big mistake! Remember the two-seater Smart car (Smart Fortwo(C453/A453) you hardly ever see to many on the road in the U.S.. Why no one want to be seen in a clown car! 🤡🚖
Smart cars are mega popular in Europe. We see them *everywhere* in major cities. They aren’t popular in USA because they are less profitable to sell for Mercedes which prefers to maintain premium status. A 2-seater taxi is 100% the right choice for robotaxi/cybercab. Will occupy less space on roads and serve 80% of journeys with _much_ lower weight and thus cost per mile. Great decision.
The Smart is too small for American tastes. Virtually no utility. But a car that size could work for ride share.
Over 80% of Ubers have 1-2 passengers. They are targeting this market share first. The only clown is you!
