Historians have established that the sound of the human voice, which originated from the nomadic pastoralism of the Mongols, developed into a form of singing art from the time when people began to live in Mongolia! More than 10,000 years ago. Thank you for your good explanation of the art of the throat! UB MGL
By far the best reaction video I saw on The HU and their cover of Sad But True. Not only genuine and fun, but also very informative. I am not in the domain of singing, even music at all, but even dough I could follow your explanations and be entertained. Must be a great coach and teacher.
The Hu Band is THE BEST! Thanks for posting this MV and sharing your comments. Throat Singing 🎤 and the Morin Khur can and often imitate Nature Sounds traditionally. The Hu Band are longtime fans of Metallica and so negative 👎🏽 comments are Disgusting. I’m unsure 😐 but you seem to be more or less “promoting vocal lessons” here??
Dude, my throat hurts just by hearing you demo various fry and scream techniques. My ears might be forged in the heart of a dying star but my throat was made by Skoda.
To be honest I was VERY impressed that you pulled out your own throat singing as easily as any other style. I was NOT expecting that. I only recently (in the past few years) even heard of throat singing let alone listened to any. The few times I have listened to it I have enjoyed it as the lower resonance that it creates is almost ASMR-like for me. It is a pleasant form of droning sound that is very enjoyable to listen to. Thank you for breaking down the mechanics behind it a bit more. If I were in my 20's or 30's and were interested in being a singer I would definitely practice this technique. I, however, will be 51 soon (and a smoker for 35+ years) so any singing I do now is just for my own enjoyment of the music I am listening to at the time.. and is not intended to be heard by others LOL.
The Hu is a Mongolian folk rock band formed in 2016. With traditional Mongolian instrumentation, including the Morin khuur, Tovshuur and Mongolian throat singing, the band calls their style of music "hunnu rock",
I'd like to see a reaction to Choke by Bury Tomorrow. I'd really like to hear an educated opinion on their music, and I haven't been able to find one yet.
I just tried the false chords. I know I did it wrong. I made myself gag. I love this version and I love the Hu. But I'm also loving the information your giving out. I'm learning something new
I'm glad you're learning something new, although gagging doesn't sound too good! If you'd like to take your learning further, drop me an email at kardavox1010@gmail.com to learn more about our private lesson offerings!
You are the only vocal coach I've seen who can break down the false chord anatomy for throat singing/ gutturals. Would love to hear you react to Uutai or Olox or Eivor, all of whom come from indigenous northern Old World traditions. And all of whom will blow even your well educated mind I think.
funny thing you said using Kargyraa to help get false chord and guttural I did it backwards myself. I discovered Tuvan/Mongolian throat singing from the blues musician Paul Pena
Fuck yes! I also learned about them through Jedi Fallen Order. That song in that game was sooo awesome to set the mood and tone for the intro to that game.
There's an amazing live performance of the band Sunn, and partway through, the vocalist (Atilla Csihar from mayhem i believe) goes into full throat singing mode with whistle tones and everything. It's pretty incredible
Well done for a break down of how it is done! Nobody else does it like throughout youtube. Even the women, they don't take the simplistic aspects of a tone, and explain it. Thank you. I subscribe to you, on one condition. Relax, calm down, and listen to lizzy hale with the hu! I may jave missed it in your uploads, but, if I find it, ...... I sub.....
Sick! I would love to see you analyze the newer Mastodon song called “Fallen Torches” more specifically the grittier “singing” from the bassist Troy. It’s not as “brutal” as some other bands you’ve covered, but there something about it that truly packs a punch.
I learned how to do this back in 2015 I was trying different breathing techniques out n stumble on it. It's so fun. I might have to relearn this just for fun lol love it man. Great video
BMTH's newest album "Post Human Survival Horror" has some stuff that reminds me of 2010-2013 BMTH, one that really stands out is Dear Diary, probably the heaviest song in the album. Definitely recommend giving it a listen at the very least.
describing the process of throat singing in my opinion is even more hard to describe than a Death Growl. I always say I'm pushing my voice into a natural overtone but I know that's probably not what's actually going on.
I’m not an expert on throat singing either, but that throat singing or “buzzer” sound is how I form my basic distortion (if I’m doing false chord), and then I use a regular vocal chord note to get good projection, and then I layer them together to get a nice false chord scream. From there I can add vocal fry or change the compression or whatever I want to do. You can also lean more into a pitched, nasally kind of singing and tone down the distortion and you’ll sound kind of like the vocalist of We The Heathens.
You should listen to one of the best Metal Bands Finland has to offer right now: Havukruunu and their opening Track to their current Album „Uinuos Syömein Sota“
The Hu use horse head fiddle and throat singing. But i think we have a another joker in mongolian traditional art. I will advice every one who love THE HU must check out mongolian traditional LONG SONG. uyhan zambuu tuviin naran by norovbanzad is the best long song ever.
Thanks again for an amazingly helpful video and analysis, BUT I just have to ask: is this a shirt design or is it just lint? I know it happens to all of us black wearing folk, but it just bugs me a bit looking at you 😅
Really Cool Love the Hu. so amazing ...climate change...human is evil...nature ...all songs are amazing of the Hu. if you react to Sugaanaa Essena of The Hu you won't regret.
Good reaction If you are vocalist Don't forget to react to (Dimash) the song "S O S" slavic bazar, he have the best vocal you will never saw or see it again,, believe me you will shock.. and he have many great songs with different vocals.

I love the unique style and the fact that they made a whole new story that goes along with the lyrics.

The most in-depth look at the way they sing I've seen. Good job. Hopefully you'll do some more by them one day
This is so well produced! I have seen them live twice amd they can pull this off.
This is simply better then the original.
Bro this shit makes me real happy, thank u!

Damn I haven't heard of them in years, I've still got their Union of Crowns CD from way back in the day, yeah he definitely has a very unique scream
I love BT vocals! Maybe I'll suggest them next month! If you want to suggest videos you should join the patron!

This MUST become a MMORPG. With The Hu as the elemental gods you should not anger.
Makes me cry when he drops the water and the plant dies - so sad!
Careful with the jaw harp. It can split your lip and tongue.
Learned that the hard way when I cut my lip! You're 100% right on that

throat singing is originally located in MONGOLIA. People think about Mongolia because its theirs not bcuz they sound different
There is some amazing live playthroughs of slice the cake, garet is an unreal vocalist id love to see you react to them.
