+Portuguese Because you've never played anything competitively or at high skill levels. You can't understand the satisfaction of competition if you have no interest.
What you're doing is more like watching people play FIFA Waching sports is just a more direct thing. You're closer to the actual thing. Esports adds another layer to it that just moves you further away from the actual thing. That's what weirds people out. Im not judging but this argument is everywhere and it sucks. Meh

+Qylo I bet they'll say it's a "physical game" and try to justify that sports are for "physical activities," even though we say e-sports and not sports.
tielohnoms I see a sport as a game you're trying to win, where you have control (as opposed to board games where it's on a board) and with multiple people, which esports are, nothing has to be physical so their point would be invalid
People play competitive pool, poker, chess, fishing, archery, and more non of which are highly physical yet require incredible skill to do at competitive levels, gaming is no different. These people are just so isolated and have no clue about gaming in general and see it as stupid, but guess what, football is fighting to move a ball past a line... It's just so culturally ingrained and praised that you don't ever think about how pointless it is, yet DOES require skill like gaming or any other sport.
Why do you think it is? Physical strength, endurance and agility are not required to be a good archer. (Don't make the argument that they help, those help in everything you do, even taking a shit)
Actually virtual games of boardgames and acknowledged sports are sport.. not football and shooters etc.. but chess is considered training for the real thing as it’s 100% the same wether online or not. That is.. for the vast majority of people
For all intents and purposes it is a sport. Can you tell me one *good* reason that it can't be a sport? Because I'm willing to bet that whatever you come up with will not be a solid reason, just your current mentality about it.
Wait what? So you have no sports team in your area (not all are completely professional)? No friends you can play with? You can just go to a football field and ask if you can play with them. Nowadays you can even look online.

Balance is important, you should train your body and mind through competing in regular physical sports. And the leisure of gaming and the competitive online pvp setting can be a place to train your mind on top of that, it at least beats the passive watching of TV or listening to music. I'd say anything that is able to sustain itself economically and is worthy of competition is a Sport. be it physical like UFC, be it intelectual like Chess, or virtual like Video games if it has a fan base thats passionate and big enought to make some of the "athletes" make a living out of it I'd call it a sport. Hell, the only reason we are not banging rocks and sticks together still is competition, humans are always competitive, like it or not. if we're not doing something for fun or for love, we're doing it to get better, to stand out, to be recognized. It's kind of silly to see people like these on TV ignore the potential of Video game Competitions, the data is there, its real, its growing exponentially every year, and yet they cease their chance to get onboard with it
To be fair, they are essentially the same game. 5v5 with unique hero characters trying to destroy each others base. Still sloppy though not showing correct game :)
Enoch Annor agree , but you dont need approval of what you like, just enjoy it, people dont get it? fine , esports scene at this moment is supporting itself without needing to impress or convince skeptics. I mean its not an ‚intellectual sport‘ as i understand it. Of course there are a lot of smart people playing video games, who develop amazing strategies and outplay their opponents, but being smart is not a requirement. Its more about the skill and endless hours of dedication the players put in to become the best. Its like ‚regular sports‘ in that sense. Its just another set of skills thats needed
Chris This intelligence is very important I mean I don’t see these below average iq news anchors playing games or a stupid person ever winning a tournament
@@christhis9597 I've heard there's been a study that said something in lines that most of pro League players have high iq. Yeah because they're athletes who have lived the lifestyle of a basketball player or a football player, they have done it their entire life to become the best of the best, fat retards playing cs go have nothing on actual athletes
"Fat retards playing cs go have nothing on actual athletes" LMAO how much more stupid can you get? Pro gamers have way faster reaction speeds, so much more muscle memory and the mental strength to play the game at the highest level. Also you need to understand the game better than 99% of the rest of the player base. Yes there is strategy in football and basketball but it can only go so far. All video games on the other hand have meta shifts that can change the way a game is played entirely and that means coming up with brand new strategy's.

How do you make a profession out of driving a car around damn oval. 4. How do you make a profession of cooking. 5. How do you make a profession out of PLAYING POKER! The question that's asked referring to video games can easily be asked for literally anything sports related. I sometimes worry about humanity when hypocrites talk like this XD. And yes you can make a living out of it considering that games were mostly geared towards younger audiences. It'll get more publicity Edit: Thanks for the upvotes guys. My point wasnt to shit on sports. My was mostly made due to how much Esports is mocked because of how the media views gaming. It's really rude and disrespectful and is treated like a joke. I feel like that isn't right to mock another community just because it doesnt fit in with your standards or your interests. As a gamer myself, It feels like we're being looked down on as a community and seen as lesser beings. I like playing games because of the art aspects of it. I would never make a career out of it but I can respect those who can make a career out of something they love. Pro gaming and MLG is really demanding and difficult just like regular sports. Sure you're sitting down looking at a screen, but you have to dedicate time to get good really good at it. You also have to have a healthy life to be a pro gamer. Some gamers adress this. You have to be in good physical health and good mental health in order to produce top results. Just like sports, not everyone can pick up gaming as easily. Everyone has their own preference and can find a game they'd like. That's why the gaming community has so many followers. I just want people to give it a bit more credit and show some respect.

And they mostley earn that money by Ad-revenue and some by stock markets. Same with E-sport the biggest amoung of money the teams make is from ad-revenue. beeing it having a partnerschip with moster something like that. They don't make money by selling a product. But as any sport they make money primary by entertainment aka those who are willing to pay for a ticket to see them play. So you are right when it comes to your avarage YouTouber or Streamer. Well as a goalkeeper I can say it is different physical action as you are certainly not jumping around, but in terms of reflexes and state of mind it certainly is no big difference. Just as a Boxing Champion requires more strenght than a footballer a footballer might require more stamina than an e-sportler and an e-sportler better micromanagement than a boxing athlete.
What people don't understand that both football and pro video games are played the same in the head. I've played both football when i was younger(competitively), and now video games(again competitively), and all i can say that sports need more psychical presence, esport need more mental presence. I don't know much about science, but both are used through the brain. Both need training everyday to keep it in a good shape or improve, so it's kinda the same. If you do any of these in a higher level, i guarentee that you gonna sweat like you're in the goddamn desert. Also calling something crazy that is more popular than the show where they're talking about it(well i'm not familiar with these "shows", but i don't think that they're anywhere close to the whole esport industry), is just gonna be a really goddamn bad "advertisement" for that show or the person. It's like calling Einstein stupid, you won't be too popular/liked with that statement.
I don't like having someone say something without backing it up, tell me the motherfucking difference. I could say that the fucking sun is black, without any reason, but it's retarded like that so is what you just wrote almhtarif 1. Is it because they have psychical activity more? What do you think what is behind all the fkn psychical activity? It's the brain muscle connect/memory. You need the same fkn thing in esport.

Instead of testing physical limits, you test your skill at the game. These guys aren't sitting on their asses relaxing they are pushing themselves to their best performance, it is competitive and thus it is by definition a sport

Umm..

Edit: Thanks for the upvotes guys.
@ADAM TWOMEY so does gaming. No one can just easily pick up an controller or keyboard and mouse and become a professional.
@ADAM TWOMEY you just proved my point
I like da tird wan.
I don't know why you aren’t gonna make it as a sports athlete without the proper equipment and it is talent to be able to do what these guys do just look at it
Dude if you tried playing in the higher ranks of overwatch you would literally die every two seconds if you didn’t have the same skill as them, also the fact that it will take months to get out of plat if their hard stuck. If gaming isn’t that hard , I dare you right now to go to that friends house and play overwatch
"Brace yourselves... Video Games"
I bet everyone expected it except for her
Gotta love that logic... My sister says she is too grown up for immature things like video games, yet she spends all of her free time watching movies and Korean doramas
Antony A.V she is brain dead, doesn't know about gta or some other R rated game. She should play one of these and see if those games are mature or not
@@FATMAC2 immature? Have you only seen fortnite and fifa?
PeeCeeMusturdFace you didn’t get what he said
@@thekingcreeperissexy games like gta are immature

“8 hours a day looking at a screen that can’t be good for you” yeah that’s average screen time a day the people saying this prolly do as much watching tv and looking at their phone
The average guy watch a screen for 14hrs/day
Worse than that, most of their jobs involve doing just that, I'm a developper, And sometimes spend close to 16h a day in front of my screen.
This is an average online class time
When it comes to looking at screen for 5 DAMN HOURS for school it *doesn't* count as looking at screen
But when it comes to gaming for 1 hour only
No no no you looked at it too much get off
I lost 300 braincells while typing this reply
This video was posted 4 years ago, even before 2020. So yeah boomer media is slowly dying off.
8 hours? that’s nothing
“It’s not a sport it’s a game”
“Let’s go watch a football *game* “
"I'm sorry, I can't think of anything less interesting"
I can't think of anything less interesting than some women arguing that gaming isn't a sport.
"It's not a Sport, it's a game"
Me:Sport is a game
"Esport is not a job"
Me: Many people make money from games by livestreams and competition.

Ok
Gaming isn’t a sport it is a activity which you can do on prof lvl change my mind angry redditors
If someone laughs about esports, tell them how much money the pro players make and watch their faces change completely. When you mention money, all of a sudden people take it seriously.
yea its stupid sht they only care about the money not the passion nor entertainment it brings
Ignorant fools getting nuked by the truth bomb and realise their life has been a lie
that don't earn that much compared to other sports, unless they become streamers aka Shroud.
@@coreyzelez838 well true but I - for example - played first league rugby in Germany. Didn't earn a dime.
If you are beeing payed plainyg sports is not (!) depending on the sport or the class you are playing in. It depends on how much money the sport in of itself earns.
And they mostley earn that money by Ad-revenue and some by stock markets. (but majroly by people who are willing to pay for a ticket to see the match)
If no one is interested in a sport the players wont earn shit.
Those in a professional esports team get money from the team and the team makes money off off ads and partnership deals.
@@coreyzelez838 That may be true but look at it this way it still makes way more money than any 9-5 job most people can get.
That blond chick is the best
+12SgtDeath agreed.
+12SgtDeath That is Julia Hardy, I encourage you all to go sub to her youtube channel
YES!
+12SgtDeath Yeah she seems really passionate about it

Sport or not, no one will remember you in the Esports scene
I don't even know who tf watch these lmao.
Once you die you no why would you care to remembered? No one remembers you after your death, if you are super famous, people will pay attention for a 1-2 days max then it's all going to be a move on thing. The earth is not forever neither the humans just temporary stuff

Bless Rick Fox and everything hes done for esports. Seriously, more people like him change the world for the better.
Yeah he truly respects skill and training that poeple do what a great guy
It's a shame what happened to him, he was the esports dad
They always say its a game omfg :D Did they realize that football is a game?, soccer is a game, chess is a game, ice hockey is a game...
They mean video game. But that's just as weird for me as chess, they both require no physical aptitude whatsoever, and yet chess is ok
You need the same fkn thing in esport.
that's why it's called esport
News: Esports isn't even a real job
Me: hold my money
They make fun of esports but they don't even earn half the amount of what pro gamers earn 🤣🤣🤣🤣
