      +Aye! LetMeTellYouWhatHappen maybe learning one more programming language will be enough. Python is bad at teaching basics, because it's high level (high level means easy)

    • @JohnEthan777
      @JohnEthan777 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just to add, as I feel it may prove helpful-high level isn't just easy, often the easy way is the right way to go in programming,(thats why JS and python are so popular) but what it definitely means is that you don't learn some computer science concepts that low level languages such as C and C++ have, such as bitwise operations and memory management.
      Agreed, those are hard, but in the situations where those languages are used-performant systems, these skills and concepts also help give some insight into what a certain high level language like python is doing.

    What are the prerequisites to learn/begin toying with AI? Do I need to understand hard differential and integral calculus? How about statistics?

    • @YEASTY_COMMIE
      @YEASTY_COMMIE 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I think knowing all the math (differential and integral,matrix, tensors...) is a big plus especially if you want to go further and play make more advanced models but you can still make a lot of things without, there are also many deep learning libraries that will do the math for you. I think you could start with simple things and learn the math when you need it

Thanks for just being you...and keep that up ok?

    I'm a 3rd year CS student and i just can't trust myself to be doing something worthy of money. i love programming and A.I. and i am currently learning tensorflow but i just feel like all i can do is school assignments. when it comes to the real world i have a great fear of not being enough at all for a real project. i dunno why, maybe because i've never done it before. i've never earned money by my own work.
    i always hear "the real world is not like school... the real world is not like school... " and it builds up my fear and lowers my confidence as i get closer to my graduation. i dunno how it's gonna be like.
    maybe i sound like a crybaby and i dunno maybe it's partly true. i just wanted to express what goes through my head since the topic is relevant.
    Thank you Siraj for the video :) i'll search these ways.

      How do you feel 1 year after? I feel the same way actually. I did all my school assignments, got A in all of my programming classes, then went to several hackatons and was sooooo lost because the scope of those projects was wayyy beyond what we've done at school. Had multiple job interviews but no offers yet, which is killing my confidence in my programming skills...

    Hey Siraj great tips, another idea for programmers to make money is to build integrations for marketplaces. Example like shopify, magento, or even a plugin for woocommerce. Trick is to hunt around for the connection that is missing. We get plenty of requests to build different connectors into systems and like you mentioned on your video we go to upwork to get them built. Thanks mate keep up the videos.

    I am coding and learning hardcore at work and outside of work roughly about 10/12 hours per day... I can build some basic android apps, code a few websites and maybe something basic with database/servers. How the hell do you get to the level of competency and broad knowledge that these guys who do bounties have?

    • @chicken6180

      i always wonder that. i see crappy websites from businesses around town, with outdated visuals and confusing menus, but someone got paid to do those. so i know that at least some work is out there for making sites that i can find, where my (meager) level of skill is enough. however i always feel like my skills really aren't good enough and im not sure how to determine and prove to myself that im ready to actually try to get paid...

      Yea I totally feel you there dude, I am glad to hear I am not the only one. I am trying to keep up with Deep learning news and trying to find a way in, but even the python basics were tripping me up :(
      I was lucky enough to get a role as a graduate in the bank and I work for them now, but its COBOL mainframe.. really old stuff lol, but they are changing with the times now, maybe you can do something similar?

    Thank you very much for the video and congratulation on your wonderful book. I want to learn how to program but don't want to do it for profit yet. I'm still new to programming and I believe it will take years to sort of master it. Once I am capable to write an application then I'll think about it. The language I want to conquer is C. There are various reasons why I chose that language, and I know there are other languages that are easier to learn and work with. Any books you know that will help me learn programming challenges like Google Code Jam or Hackathon?

    would you consider making a video with tf and/or opencv for object recognition but with a purpouse? for example for a rc car with rpi or sth with just camera(s) image to avoid obstacles, maybe one distance sensor up front?

    Hello Siraj, first of all, I love your videos, and I need an advice. I'm from Brazil and here the Python language is extremely underrated, cause "don't you get a job". But I think that Python is one of the best languages to learn, because of it's extension of applications. And I'm learning the basics of python and focusing on AI/ML, by now studying the Intro to statistics with Sebatian Thrun/Udacity. So how can I eventually make money out of my skills with python ??

    Hi Siraj,
    Your vdo really inspired me of how amazing machine learning is. I am currently a final year student studying radiography and wondering how machine learning can be combined with diagnostic radiography. What would you suggest for a person with no programming background to start with? I've found a guide on github about data science - github.com/open-source-society/data-science. Is it a good way to start with?

    Jokes aside great video as always dude, the contractor part I think it's worth another video mainly for strategies to avoid having your listing buried by code farms that spam those sites.
