    I love the prybar functionalty of this tool. Its basically like an urban environment survival tool, in my mind. make sure if you make it to make it thick enough. this has got to be one of the most useful blades around

  • @beamerfan
    @beamerfan 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    That's a beautiful blade with a good weight, and good engineering; I could definitely find a few uses for this.

    Actually, no. The ACB-90 is the United Cutlery M48 Kommando Survival Guthook Knife. Unfortunately it is no longer in production.

    I remember when mine was all new and shiny.
    But not any more, I can process 1 foot thick oak logs with it and the "gut hook" is the first thing to go, it shatters when hit but other than that its a great knife/tool....

  • @knivestown
    @knivestown  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    No. There is a safety on it that prevents it from being thrown.

  • @Poonard

    the question should be, are they good serrations? I don't mind serrations as long as they shred the hell out of things, like they're supposed to.

  • @Leap623
    @Leap623 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    No, I emailed them and they said they weren't stocking it.
    Then I found out that the blog and trueswords had the wrong name, it's actually the united cutlery m48 survivor knife. (which you can get off amazon for less than 30 bucks)

  • @knivestown
    @knivestown  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Actually the hook is sharpened. It is sharp enough to cut a seat belt at least.

    Different colour and very slight differences with the blade, but that's gotta be it. Damn nice find.

    what in your opinion is better the tops pry knife or the becker tac tool?

  • @Richardpahern
    @Richardpahern 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    is this a good choice for "batoning".....i have looked into the Ka-Bar USMC knife and they have had bad reviews for batoning.

  • @HolyDeltaWings
    @HolyDeltaWings 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Oh yea I'm not knocking this knife at all, in fact I am thinking of getting or making one similar to this. Like the pry bar aspect just I hate serrations on knives. They are for people who don't know how to sharpen a knife. Just saying the ACB-90 is the m48. I have a knife I made from a leaf spring which is really close the the steel used to make these and might reshape it to be more like this without the paracord hook. That seems to be a flaw if you were prying hard.

    Every knife has a use. No knife can do everything, some are close, but, no cigar. I'm buying this, If I sharpen it, it shouldn't let me down.

    if you're talking about that retractable folding thing, its just a fancy razor. no way you could pry stuff with that.

  • @StonerMcWeedSmoke
    @StonerMcWeedSmoke 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    have you tried to cut seatbelt with it?

  • @JoakimfromAnka
    @JoakimfromAnka 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    You should show a video where you put this knife to use for it's various purposes. :) Perhaps make a comparisation towads the ontario sp8.

    No Becker & Ka-Bar actually make the blades in the USA with American steel. They list on the website the type of steel used and where the blade is from since not all of their products are American made. The cheaper products come from Taiwan like the sheath.

    it just came in today, it's sick looking. I would hate to have to use it but i'd rather have it and not need it. great survival knife.

  • @HolyDeltaWings
    @HolyDeltaWings 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    OK to clear things up the ACB-90 from battlefield 3 is NOT NOT NOT this knife. It is modeled after the United Cutlery's M48 kommando survival knife.

  • @megalizardfreak

  • @damdembones

    Oh and this isnt an acb 90 if your looking for an acb 90 its actual name is the m48 kommando guthook survival knife

  • @Leap623
    @Leap623 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Damn....other than the orange folding handle, that's almost a complete match. Too bad the one place claiming to sell it doesn't have a page for it any more.

    Emm, no.
    If your looking for a budget tool that come close to this Becker, look for the EOD Breacher Bar. Highly customisable and very affordable HC steel.
    But this Becker is something else.

    Well, I was interested enough to check this tool out and started reading the reviews. Most are 5 of 5, however I've noticed a trend. It appears that the blade is designed primarily for right handed folks. We lefties are, once again, left out. Too bad. I was considering getting one.

    • @sweetcostarica
      @sweetcostarica 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Get the Ontario SP8 or one of the Silky Nata Japanese Hatchets (double bevel). These go for about the same price (the SP8 is cheaper though).
      The Nata is a 5 out of 5 for sure. The SP8 is a 3.5 to 4 rating IMO.

    the hook isn't really sharp. its more for like pulling something toward you in a situation where you are unable to move. Could save your life.

    knife is very nice but dont like the face that its only one faced, if both sides looked the same it would be great

  • @TheBackcountryLiving
    @TheBackcountryLiving 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    you should consider actually testing the knife. then give us a review. The knife is solid but is useless for any fine tooling, skinning, or carving. makes a great ax. line cutter couldn't cut warm butter. handle is slippery & needs a replacement or an added grip for any real use. on the good side this knife is tough i don't think you could break it if you tried. & you can always try to sharped the single edge blade yourself. it is a good tool but not what i would consider a knife.
