  • In this behind the build we build a custom transmission cross member, modify our front bumper support, get a start on the exhaust, realize we bought the wrong radiator, test the brake booster and lay some more primer! Very exciting stuff...

    This is the type of content that is really inspiring. Sorting out how to move and reinforce things is the most intimidating part of taking on a hybrid project like this. You are showing that this type of thing is really possible. And if you dont have money, you better have time.
    Also, my OCD would require symmetry in as many aspects as possible too.

      @@slightlyMADcustoms it's not that silly. Just give supporters access to the video 1 day early and maybe a brief thanks in a credit screen. What might be only a couple bucks a month for viewers might be hundreds or thousands of dollars. It can be used to help build the channel, buy parts, tools or even cars. Merch is cool to but for someone who isn't in the US it can get pretty expensive. I'm happy to give to creators I think deserve it.

    Awesome build, so are you looking at putting the Mazda 626 master cylinder in? Also what are you doing for the brakes? On my build I'd like to put radial mount bmw 135i 6 piston fronts with 4 piston rear(factory brembos) fairly cheap, 1k or less for a set, great brakes for the lightweight rx7 buuuut no parking provision. Was looking at a custom rear mount that allows a wilwood parking brake to keep the factory handbrake but it's possible to use a conversion kit to use the handbrake hydraulically with the rears, just gotta keep it in gear to make sure the pressure does bleed off over time if left

    • @slightlyMADcustoms
      @slightlyMADcustoms  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Those are some great ideas! For the time being we’re planning on just keeping the factory brakes. This build will mainly be seeing street driving and won’t need any more breaking than what was needed with a factory FD. And then once the car is built and on the road, we can look at changing up the brake system if we’re not happy with it!

  • @jan-hendrikdejager6315
    @jan-hendrikdejager6315 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great work so far guys. I do have a question. Why don't you guys go with a different technology for the brake booster. I saw the hoonigan using a hydro booster on they're donk build. Have a look at that if space is at a minimum.

    • @slightlyMADcustoms
      @slightlyMADcustoms  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nah there’s a fingers width of clearance which is tons relative to some of the other clearances on this build 😂 I’d take a brake booster over hydro boost if I have the option because it’s so so simple and reliable. Hydro boost adds more high pressure oil lines to the car which just means more possible problems
