Engl makes a killer amp! I don't prefer to have so many opitions as this particular amp has but each to there own. Engl also does not need a Mr Scary mod or an overdrive to achieve high gain where most Marshall's are lacking and need a overdrive and a mod !! Personal preferences, you said it all there Euge. Thanks for a great rundown video again and have a great day ! Keep rockn brother🤘
Yeah bro, that’s me. I was on the list, but I’m glad I said no. Just way too many options. Currently I’m just playing the Amped3. A few knobs and foot switches, it’s small, and has different “tube” voicings as well as channels. I really don’t need much more than that!
I have an Engl PB2 and an JCM 800 2203. I love both amps but in general im a bit Marshall biased. But in this Demo i really liked the Engl sound as it sounded more Hi-fi and mix ready. Obviously the 800 sounded great as always, specially the compression you were able to dial in the amp for this demo.
I have the original E670 Special Edition and is really a killer amp. It has so many options and all add to the sound in a pleasant way. It has no bad setrings, it always sound good. Its a keeper for sure...

Yeah I changed fresh strings just before filming and didn’t stretch them enough. That happens sometimes 😎. But in general when you take your time to really rip & stretch the strings those work great. I have those on many guitars 👌.
ENGLs are good workhorses, nowadays i think you cant go wrong with any tubeamp, if its reliable and gets the sound you want, youre golden, no matter the brand.
These type of amps are like computers to me 😅 you don't dial them, you program them. Not that there's anythong wrong with that, I just prefer the plug in and play type of amps. Awsome vid!
I’ve taken an interest in Engl lately but as much money as I’ve put into gear the last couple of years, I may have to settle for a preamp pedal based on one.
Dude...your 80's riffs are so spot on, If I was in your shoes I wouldn't play anything else. There's nothing better than a 120bpm melodic bar chord-ridden riff that you can crank up in your car at a stop light, so f**king loud it rattles the review mirror off your windshield. But, I only hear you do it during gear demo! Why is that? Does one of your bands play this style??? I almost forgot this was a gear demo. ENGL makes great stuff, especially the Artist, Retro, or even Fireball, that's not being pushed specifically towards these 7-string, chugging "rivet-heads". And, even in this case, the tone had so much fizz to it, that it lost clarity, and articulation. For whatever reason the Germans think that the more buttons on an amp the better. A lot of players, these days with "tech-overload", would walk right past this amp. If I've got to break out a manual to figure out an amp, then forget it....I don't care how good it "could" sound. Most players want a Marshall style circuit with a good master, these days. I'm sure it could sound spectacular for the players willing to sit down and figure it out. BTW...If you can get a-hold of a Splawn Quickrod in your presences, I think you'd fall in love with it. It's my favorite amp beyond an SLO. Killer demo! The opening riff was worth the video in and of itself.
Thanks Phil! Really glad to hear this! That 80s stuff is always in my playing no matter the band and some has more and some less of it. My next solo album with different vocalists is all about this kinda stuff so stay tuned 😎🤟. The first single / music video will be released in the near future.
I think the Jcm fits your playing well and both you and the amp function great. That said, i really liked how you played with the ENGL. The warmth and saturation sounds huge.
Hi Euge! For someone that already has Marshall amps, but interested in the ENGL sound - which one do you like the best that isn't trying to do the "Marshall thing"? Because for that, Marshall is already king :D
Ive just listen the comparison section... i like so much engl, fireball most, but in this comparison marshall kicked a... the engl to my ears😂 sorry engl, too many knobs 4 too few difference sounding. Simplicity and royalty won the game to me... A dream in this chanel: a review of purple nightmare amp, to me, the gherman king tube... wish u read this Euge and take in mind if possible...😊 thank you!
I feel like that from listening the comparisson, then in hindsight, the ENGL could've probably been dialed to match the other amps a bit more with some more treble and presence. If it's anything like my Savage 120 MK1 you can really dial in the balance, but it's not as straight forward as a JCM800 or a 5150 of course. I some times get really annoyed at the Savage 120 for having too many buttons 😹
I really appreciate your videos but next time please use a different guitar. It's frustrating listening such a good amp with a constant out of tune instrument. 👍
@@EugeValovirta230V I also have a fireball 100 that I have had for 11 years. The fireball is like a Porsche and the mark five is more of muscle car vibe if you can relate! I enjoy them both but they are different beasts!
I enjoyed your comments but the engl is the modern high gain beast of today, yes expensive and very complex. Your my fav guitar player my friend. All my research believes me to say it's my favorite high gain of today. Yes your other amps you compared are awesome but from another timeliness thanks Jack!
I don't know what the market for this amp is. Players who need so many options, already go for Line6, Axe-FX, etc. Any tube amp with more than 2 channels is out of place in 2024 imo.

Yes, Euge. You called the Savage a space station, and ENGL sent you a space colony. Lol.
🤣
My Engl Savage mk2 el34 for my Taste Sounds better ! I Like your Bad Boy and 5150 better Than This Founders Edition
Awesome intro song!! 80s riffs are the best!
Cool riffs and guitar! Love the ENGL, really like the sound signature of those. It's like it's made for metal :)
Thanks!
Love your ESP as much as I love the ENGL.
Moral of the video? Get yourself a Jcm800 or 5150... the ENGL is ok but not GREAT.... nuff said! :D
