I presently have the S22 ultra. But I do agree on the benefits of the S23+ totally. I don't use the s-pen enough to justify the upgrade and am getting tired of the large size. Unless an S23+ magically drops into my lap, I am going to wait and see what the S24's bring next year.

A lot of reviewers are not giving the Plus much love. Personally, I wanted a bigger screen, preferably flat and wanted to try the new UFS 4 etc. I find the size and weight comfortable plus the balance is nice (S22 Ultra and Pixel 6 Pro were very top heavy IMO). I've been very impressed with the battery and overall performance for my use case.

I have an S22 Ultra and I love it, but I would really like if Samsung went with a flat display and more rounded corners, basically a bigger version of the S22+ or S23+. i love the size of the S22U and S23U I just am beginning to not like the squared off corners and curved screen. Hopefully since Samsung got a new designer they will makes some changes to the Ultra line for the S24U. I'm hoping for an under-display selfie camera, flat display and rounded corners.

I don't mind the size, it's the pointy corners that turned me off. I tend to rest my index fingers on the corners of a phone while holding it in landscape for gaming (which I do often). Doing that on the Ultra actually is quite uncomfortable, so I don't regret getting the S23+ over it.

Coming from a note 20 ultra to the s23+ because I was tired of the curve edges, it was a nightmare with screen protectors that's why the 23 ultra wasn't even an option. I miss my note, i wouldn't have change it if it wasn't for the edges, but this phone is pretty cool, I'm enjoying the flat screen soooo much, also the size change wasn't big of a deal, and the design is gorgeous. The S23 Ultra was never an option for me this year. Size and sharp corner being the major deal breakers. Having owned an S9+ for years and carried it in my front pocket, I knew for a fact the ultra size was never gonna work for me. I'm not gonna change my clothes for a phone. Moreover, other than the extra ram which is always helpful in the long term when apps get more demanding, I didn't care about S-pen or better camera. The S23+ camera is MORE than enough for my use. The 2k v 4k display res was also uninportant as on my S9+ (which had both) I couldn't see any difference even when looking close, and ended up preferring the 2k for longer lasting battery life. About the 200mp photos: I now have the S23+ and I don't even use the top 50mp quality as I'd rather save storage and take pics whenever I need. 12mp is more than enough quality for memories, and even wasted when used on social media, as they'll automatically reduce quality upon upload!
Honestly though, if the Ultra was as big as the plus, I'd have probably had a harder time choosing between the two phones.

First, THANK YOU Ryan - this is very helpful.
Thanks neoroger510. I'm looking at the S23+ as my next phone. I am about ready to switch from my S9+ which I still love, but they aren't updating the software especially security - anymore. If by chance you read this, did you have much "getting used to the new device" trouble, or is it fairly straightforward? The S9+ is my 3rd Samsung, and my wife uses a Samsung also, so I want to stay with the brand.

    • @neoroger510
      @neoroger510 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@Jaxun1 it was straightforward, but of course there are a few new features you might want to learn. There's the "Tips" app in the app drawer that'll help you with that.
Also, you can use SmartSwitch to transfer date from your old S9+ to the new phone: I recommend using it for settings, wifi, wallpapers etc, and storage files (you can select which folders you want or just transfer everything). But I installed all apps myself, one by one, without Smart Switch to avoid any issues.
Don't forget to backup settings and all with Samsung cloud before switching.

This is probably a joke, but a serious answer to this is that Samsung uses ai processing tricks to get the moon to look the way it does on the ultra. The camera's are not physically wide enough to capture enough information so a good portion is artificially made and sharpened. That being said, the ultra does take better moon shots but most people would probably not be taking these photos in the first place.

The Ultra is very uncomfortable in my hand and I have pretty big hands.
Maybe it's just because I dont think it's practical to need to hands to fully use your phone. At that point you might aswell get a tablet and commit to the discomfort

    It's very easy, listen:
Ultra is the note and + is the S+.
If you want the stylus go for the note. I have always used wqhd when I have the option, just upgraded from note 10+, wqhd there also ;) . It's buttery compared to fhd. If you have the money guys, don't think twice the Ultra is the one 😅

So few people did reviews on 23+. Thank you very much for making this video. I've been using Flip 4 since August and am thinking of switching to the 23+. I love the Ultra, but it's really too pricey... The flip 5 will not be much of a difference this year except the larger screen. The S series seems to have better camera than my Flip so, something to think about . I also need better battery life. Any thoughts?

Glad it was helpful! About battery life, in general because of the new processor all the S23 phones are more efficient. I just wish the battery capacity in the S23+ was bigger. They could've easily put a 5000mAh battery there!

@RyansTechMedia I'm like so obsessed of all the phone review videos lately. Honestly I like the form factor of the Ultra, but it's really expensive. In Canada I can get 600$ off for the trade in and now the discount but it still costs me 1200CAD or even more for a better model... sigh. So I guess I might just get the 23÷

S23U with a Samsung leather case feels excellent to handle same as it did on my S22U. I think the main difference from the plus models is the SPen & Camera. I'm at the gym alot. Way better than lugging around a clip board or tablet to document my workouts. Write to do lists, or be in the cold and have to take my gloves off to touch my phone. Honestly if the plus model had an SPen i would give it a go, but then again if I couldn't take a random moon shot I'd be disappointed.

Honestly, I bought the Plus and even though it's really all the phone that I need, I still find myself regretting not getting the Ultra. Yes, I would probably use the s-pen like three times before forgetting about it. Yes, I would probably barely use the camera just like I do on every other phone I've ever owned. Yes, I wouldn't notice any other difference at the end of the day because I use it for like 10 minutes a day... But still, just having those things and having those capabilities is probably worth the extra 200$. I will say, the Plus barely fits in my hand as is. I was super hesitant to even get it over the regular s23 because of its size. I have toddler hands basically. Very tiny little fingers. So, I'm not even sure I could use the Ultra without dropping it constantly. I do require a basic amount of useability with one hand, and I just barely get it with the Plus. I definitely prefer smaller phones just for the functionality with one hand.

tbf that depends on the needs of the user. If you are someone who plays graphically intense games and want to run multiple apps in the background as mentioned in the video you will have some trouble. 16gb is quite overkill in most cases, I don't think I have ever capped 16gb on my PC running 2-3 AA titles simultaneously using a 3070.
