Man, Victrix makes some great minis. I really need to dive into some of their other ancients, like the Carthaginians or Numidians. Thanks to this review I’m tempted to go weirdly nuts with Roman heads and wolf skins.
None of the local stores for me do either. Gotta get it all online. They really are quite nice kits. I have a few more kits that'll be showing up on the channel in the near future!
Auxillia were native soldiers who fought in their own unique (non roman) fashions. Pila were an Etruscan invention that was integrated into the Roman armoury early on during Romes expansions. Since Auxillia used there native equipment Pilums weren't a common weapon among them. Instead they'd use Javelins or there own native missiles such as Frankish Auxillia using throwing axes.
The one from Warlords of Erehwon, right? That's the old Wargames Factory kit. I've got a few sprues laying around. I ought to compare those with the Oathmark goblins...
The only down side to victrix kits is they have a ball neck joint with the recess in the head where as frostgrave guys have a ball joint on the head and the recess on the body BUT a tiny bit of greenstuff usually can fix it, if you want to kitbash which I usually do other than that they are great I have 24 gallic cavalry sitting there waiting till I get them together
I've spent most of my day hemming and hawing over picking up some of their Gallic cavalry too... I'm afraid I'm going to pull the trigger on them before the day is done!
@@ObscuritiesinMiniature Oh nice! yeah a battle elephant carthaginian or whatever it is?...I'd like to see a scale comparison, I think victrix do them is that the one? with a howda and crew?
I think it would depend on what sort of arms you use- they need to connect to the body at the elbow. It's an interesting challenge. I'm going to see if I can cobble anything together....
Please change the title of this video 🙏 there is NO "auxiliary legionaries" in the Roman army. One thing are auxiliary, no Roman citizen soldiers, and another very different are the Roman legionaries who ONLY serve in the Roman legions all of then ROMAN citizens with full rigths.
Keep the Victrix reviews coming!
